This story begins with Cora in her new world, learning how to use her powers and finding out more about her and her brother’s role in the story. There were multiple POVs, with a love triangle and a mystery. Overall, it was okay. I would recommend it for those who enjoyed the first book and want to continue the series.

Then We Fly was interesting. I definitely didn't realize that it was a sequel to another book until I was halfway through this one. So, yeah, that kind of annoyed me but I kept reading on. Now don't get me wrong, this book was pretty good and easy to read. I also really like adventure the creatures/characters we meet along the way.

Honestly, anything with mermaids is great in my book. Plus, Cora was a pretty strong character throughout as well. At times, I didn't agree with everything she said or did but that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. It also seemed like not everything was clicking either. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

Other than that, I liked the little glimpse of romances throughout this, but I really hope we don't get a love triangle. I'm just not a huge fan of those and would rather things not go down that route. In the end, I'm wondering if there's going to be another book. The ending is definitely hinting at something and I'm hoping it's true.

I absolutely love books that have multiple POVs. And honestly who doesn't love mermaids and the like?!

This was a fun and easy to read book. I would definitely read other books by this author.

The multiple pov`s were annoying and felt random here and there.
I didn`t enjoy any of the characters.

Did I check if this was a sequel...no, but I really enjoyed this book nonetheless.

I loved the multiple POV's in this story. I often find that I don't always enjoy when the focus jumps around in books, but I think it was drafted really well.

Salas is a new author for me but I think she will be someone on my radar in future

I really enjoyed this story. It has lots of magic and fantastical creatures and the author does a great job with the world-building as well as creating and developing her characters. There are secrets and underlying mysteries that they have to uncover all the while figuring out who they want to be and how to become that.

I will admit, I have some heartburn over giving this book 3 stars. The plot is REALLY good. However, I had to dock stars because there are so many holes and jumps in the book that made it really hard to follow. I felt I needed to flip back a few pages to double-check I did not miss things because I was confused a lot.

Overall, I really enjoyed Cora's character and the unfolding of her growth as a person and her powers. I'm really glad Cora is a strong female lead that still needs assistance. I noticed the character has faults, just like we all do, and that made her relatable. Seeing her have worries about the events unfolding when she didn't inform someone was the most relatable thing I've ever read in a story. She has attractions to two people but this storyline isn't based on romance.

Lastly, one thing I enjoyed about this book is the family aspect. In the first book and the beginning of this one, Cora basically shields her brother from the hurdles she's jumping because they only have each other. She begins to trust he can help her with her journey and they begin to grow closer. The ending has a surprise reunion and, while lack of communication made things go a little less than satisfactory, the fact Cora thinks these things to herself was a great addition to the narrative.

The story catches up with Cora in her new world, she is learning how to use her powers and learning more about her and her brother’s role in this story.

A magical world that follows multiple POVs, with a love triangle and a mystery. Don’t know if there’s going to be a third book of this series but the ending hints that a battle is coming, and that Cora and Fynn’s story is now starting.

A beautifully written book that features multi-POVs, surrounded by mermaids and the underwater fantasy creatures we love but the stories we never get. Cora is trying to find herself in this new world, handsome princes causing distractions, secrets among friends, and enemies causing her to constantly look over her shoulder.
I highly recommend reading this book, as well as getting your hands on the prequel. Well done Rebecca!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC. This review was completely mine and written in my words based on my opinion.

thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

based on the concept, i love this book. i feel like there are not a lot of books featuring mermaids and selkies.
unfortunately i just feel like the plot, worldbuilding and characters were lacking. there was a lack of worldbuilding where i feel like it could've been explored in a lot more depth. i feel like there was not a lot of character development where the characters just stalled and never started. there was a lot of confusion as well regarding the spelling of the names of the characters and i feel like i could not fully immerse myself in the story.

this story had potential but i feel like it needs more development.

Just WOW! The multiple POVs were perfect for this story. I really need to read the other book that came out before this one. I am so excited to check it out. This one was so good. I love the world that Salas has created and I am hungry for more. This is a new to me author that I have fallen head over heels for.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to review this book as an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

So first off, this type of story is right up my street! Magic, mermaids, cute love interest with a heart of gold - you've got me hooked! But, unfortunately Then We Fly did not deliver.

World building:
There was very little world building, which is such a shame because I feel with a concept like mermaid folklore the world building would be so natural.

The Plot:
The plot also didn't quite come together in the end. We have a forced love triangle that doesn't really add to the plot, and the main relationship, which I think was supposed to be experienced as a slow burn, came across as almost non-existent. I mean the last book ended with both characters saying that they are in love and then the relationship basically stalls for the entirety of this installment. The bad guy seemed to be bad just because we needed a bad guy and some of the subplots just felt unnecessary (looking at you Zoya and Shea).

Character development
Other than the MC and her brother learning about new abilities, I felt that there was very little character development. We do learn more about the MC's background and abilities in this installment of the series which was interesting but unfortunately for me it wasn't enough to save the storyline.

Side note:
There were also different spellings for a character named Naida (sometimes Naiada) and a scene in the book where there was a conversation between Cora and Dylan buy sometimes the scene referred to Fynn instead of Dylan. I found this very distracting.

Final comment:
I do appreciate that this story is unique and has a lot of potential, but for me, it just didn't cut it.
