The story of the current USA Vice President - Kamala Harris is a great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series.
I love how diverse the people are that feature in these books and how each one gives you just that insight into their life story - whether it's past or present.
Kamala Harris is of mixed race and always dreamed of big things. She embraces her dual heritage and the book shows you how her two cultures celebrated her wins - in particular her race for the presidency. The story gives the reader just enough information to make them want to know about Harris's life story and the timeline at the back of the book is a really nice addition
The illustrations are bright and colorful and the language used is positive and informative. They are wonderful books to use in the classroom and can be used in every year group.

In the 63rd addition to the Little People, Big Dreams book, we meet Kamala Harris and learn about her childhood dreams taking her all the way to the whitehouse. We learn about her young years going on civil rights marches with her parents. Her school years were spent travelling across town to a school for high achieving students where she met some friends who had some problems withh their lives. It was at that time that she decided she wanted to be lawyer to help others in need. She was always very proud of her Indian heritage and would discuss justice and equal rights with her grandfather and his friends when she went to visit him. We see all her achievements and how she went after her goals and dreams. Kamala's life was full of firsts, including becoming the first woman, Black woman, and South Asian American to be elected vice president. As Kamala stated to little girls everywhere in her speech - she may be the first but she won't be the last. This book explains in an easy, illustrative way Kamala Harris' life, with quirky illustrations. I enjoyed this quick concise story of her life so far and think it will encourage young people to follow their dreams. I definitely recommend this one to parents, schools, teachers and public libraries.

Another great release from Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara’s Little People, Big Dreams series. An incredible story about Kamala Harris, the first woman, first Black person, and first South Asian American to be elected Vice President of the USA. An inspirational story for young readers to follow along Kamala’s childhood story to present day. I would highly recommend this one!

My friend recently bought me the Elton John book from this series and it was seriously the most vibrantly colored book I have ever seen (and I loved the story in it) so when I saw other books in the collection, I knew I needed to check them out. I enjoyed the book about Vice President Harris and I learned several things about her that I did not previously know. This is a very special collection of books!

This is another entry in the inspiring Little People, Big Dreams series that shows children that those who have done great things started out as kids themselves.

This time readers learn about Kamala Harris and her journey from child of civil rights marchers to Vice President of the United States. Children see Kamala embracing both her Jamaican and Indian heritages. They also find out that she valued education, attending an historic Black college and then law school. They see that Kamala achieved so much even before she knew Joe Biden!

One message that kids can take away from this title is Kamala’s belief that, while she may be the first Black and female VP, she does not believe that she will be the last. Hopefully this book will encourage children to believe in what they can achieve and to consider public service.

The text is vibrantly illustrated and there are additional resources and a time line at the end of the book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Kamala's journey to vice president has been really inspiring to black and south Asian girls around the globe. She has been the first woman and poc to do so many things as a lawyer, DA, and in politics. I enjoyed learning about her Jamaican and Indian parents and how they met as well! Perfect for the modern elementary classroom.

This is another real nice offering in the 'Little People BIG DREAMS' series of books for little kids. It features brightly colored illustrations on the pages & the easy, kid appropriate text tells about Kamala Harris & how she grew up & came to be VP of the United States. It's a nice fun read, in a format making it interesting for kids. This continues to be a great series that sheds a little light on people that kids may have heard about, each book I've read in the series has really been good! I'd recommend this to anyone who likes to read to little kids!

Another great book in this fantastic series - I always look forward to reading them and I am never disappointed.
This one is very inspiring as she wasn't 'born into money' or anything and worked incredibly hard to get to where she is.
All laid out in easy to understand pages.

Kamala Harris was born to an Indian Mother and a Jamaican Father. Her mother teaches both Kamala and her sister Maya to be gifted black women. Education is so important that they are bused to a better school where they will have more opportunities to learn. Kamala visits India where she speaks with her Grandfather about Justice and Equal Rights. Kamala dreams of becoming a Lawyer so she can help people.

She graduates Law School and becomes a Prosecutor. This enables her to offer Justice to Everyone. This is so important to Kamala. She becomes the first Person of Color to be Elected as San Francisco’s District Attorney. Next, she wants to help more and becomes California’s Attorney General. A Woman had never achieved this position before. Her Aunt in India is so excited and proud, she lined 108 Coconuts for Good Luck that day.

Kamala decides she wants to get into Politics so she can have more influence on making changes for people. She becomes a Senator and wants to become President. Joe Biden wins the Presidential Nomination, but asks Kamala to be his Vice President. That is incredible because Kamala becomes the first woman and person of color to serve as a Vice President. Kamala knows she is the first, but makes a big point of reminding children she will not be the last.

This is an extraordinary message for children to hear, especially children of color and young girls. This lets them know that someone who looks like them can achieve their dreams, so this is possible for them, too. When children realize that there dreams are not limited, that what once seemed impossible, is possible, this makes the world a better place for everyone.

Thank you NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and Frances Lincoln Books for an ARC of this book. As always, I love to get a copy.

Another terrific option in this series by Sanchez Vegara. The biography takes readers from Harris's childhood through election as US Vice President with emphasis on how groundbreaking her career has been. The illustrations enhance the information and allow readers to see into her life.
Further information is provided at the end of the book.

This newest addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series is fantastic! Our young people need access to easy-to-read books with simple visuals that highlight historic and cultural heroes.

This book follows Kamala Harris as a young girl until her recent post as Vice President of the United States. Children will read about Kamala’s background as a biracial child of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother. They will read about two well educated parents, a university professor and a cancer researcher, who fostered the importance of education and social justice. Despite her parents divorce, Kamala was encouraged by both to reach for the stars and she did … not only is she an American politician and attorney, she’s the first female, first African American, first Asian American Vice President and highest ranking female official in the history of the USA.

The need to make sure the vulnerable are protected comes across clear in this book. The timeline and photos are a nice touch at the end and I love how it encourages children to search out and increase their knowledge of this heroine who encourages and serves others.

I can't wait to get this in my classroom! Not only will it be engaging because it's about a contemporary figure, but the story is told with such energy, purpose, and hope that the kids will definitely be invested.

The illustrations are colorful and the language is clear, simple and direct. This offers exactly the message I want the kids to hear--anything is possible and helping is always a worthwhile pursuit.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
