Do enjoy dogs in your romance? How about match making dogs?? Well, dog lovers rejoice! The third instalment of Lizzie Shane‘s Pine Hollow series, To All the Dogs I’ve Loved Before not only has a dog, but she plays a pivotal part of matchmaking for this pair of former sweethearts!

Dory, an adorable rescue pup is a teeny Houdini (😆!) and is constantly breaking out of her owner, school librarian Elinor’s home while she’s at work… thankfully her former high school sweetheart and ex-fiancé, police chief Levi is pretty good at catching his pup! All of these forced encounters make Elinor and Levi question what broke them up and if they have a possible future together…

This was a slow burn, second chance romance that really hit home. The hurt over the failed engagement and their own perceived faults was palpable as I read this book. I really appreciated the attention to personal growth author Lizzie Shane gave to both Levi and Elinor to allow them to reach a place where an HEA between them was possible and realistic.

This series stole my heat from the first book, The Twelve Dogs of Christmas (a holiday must read!😉), and continues to keep me coming back for more!

To All the Dogs I’ve Loved Before by Lizzie Shane was released November 30th, 2021.

You know those days when everything in life just feels too heavy and dark? The kind of days where you really need a true escape to somewhere lighthearted and fun? This is the series I would recommend when you’re in search of that feeling, it’s so so cute and sweet. I loved the first two books and the third was recently released, it was just as delightful as the first two and by now I’m pretty attached to the characters. This one follows librarian Elinor and police chief Levi and is a second chance romance full of tender moments, lots of laughs and a dog who is the best escape artist since Houdini. And while it’s not a holiday book it covers several months so you do get a small dose of Christmas cheer and some coziness. I still want to move to Pine Hollow and I’m sure I can convince @reallyintothis and @momssanity to come with me, but definitely recommended by me for sweet small town romance fans ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you @readforeverpub for a copy of this book. I read the first book of the series and it was so cute and was happy to be back in Pine Hollow. A fun second chance romance set during the holidays. I love how Dory, the dog, played such a big part of the story and was so integral with Elinor and Levi getting back together. I also enjoyed the friendship in the story as well.

This is the 3rd installment in the Pine Hollow series and can be read as a stand alone, although I would recommend reading the others in the series first as there are some exciting developments from characters in the first 2 books in the series.

Such a heartwarming story about true love and two people who have always existed for each other, even when they weren't together. It touches on other sensitive topics such as learning disabilities and loss of loved ones. It's a perfect read if you love dogs and romance. It spans through Christmas so it's great for reading during the holiday season.

Levi and Elinor have quite the long history with each other and now it's been 3 years since they broke up and while they act like they are over each other, it's not true! Seems the whole town is pairing up and getting married which brings these two together alot, well that and Elinor's dog who keeps getting out while she's at work and it's Levi to the rescue. Watching them work together and try to move forward together brings plenty of laughs and lots of feels! Great read and wonderful cast of characters! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I've loved both of the previous books in this series, but I think this one was my favorite so far. It's a second chance romance between Elinor, the school librarian, and Levi, the local police chief. These two were childhood best friends, HS sweethearts, and were engaged when Levi abruptly broke it off with no explanation. A few weeks after he broke it off, Elinor's other childhood best friend died abruptly in a car accident. Three years later, although she seems fine on the surface, Elinor is still reeling, practically drowning in grief she can't express, and unable to move on. She is justifiably furious with Levi and it doesn't help that she has to see him all the time around town. Levi, meanwhile, honestly thought that since he was breaking the engagement "for her own good" they would somehow still be able to remain friends even after he absolutely devastated her and broke her heart.

Dunderhead, meet Levi. I think he's the most clueless hero I've read in a long time. If it wasn't for the fact that Levi has deep seated and understandable reasons for believing he isn't good enough for Elinor, I would have really hated him. As it was, I have to admit, I never completely warmed up to him, but I adored Elinor and he did come around in the end (with the help of outside therapy), so I'm giving him a pass. The other thing I adored about this book was Dory, Elinor's adopted Aussie shepherd. What a sweetheart! She was a much needed breath of joy and life whenever she was on page, which thankfully was often. Like most Aussie shepherds, she was whip smart, open, enthusiastic and an amazing escape artist that could get out of pretty much any cage, room, yard, etc and was a ray of sunshine wherever she went.

This was definitely a slow burn romance. There's no lack of connection, sparks, or interactions between them, but because of their shared history and the issues they both need to work through, it takes most of the book before they even kiss. I do wish there had been more scenes of them actually together in a romantic sense, but that's really my only complaint. My thanks to Netgalley for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

We're back in Pine Hollow for Lizzie Shane's third book To All the Dogs I've Loved Before. This second chance romance follows elementary school librarian, Elinor, and Pine Hollow Sheriff Levi Jackson, who were engaged three years ago but now are trying to remain friends. Elinor is still trying to overcome her feelings when Levi called off their engagement out of the blue three years ago. Having to deal with Levi unexpectedly due to her Houdini Aussie Dory is not helping matters. Levi, although annoyed at having to run around town chasing Dory, is glad to have a little more time with Elinor. Although he called off their engagement, it didn't mean his love for her ever left. As he starts therapy thanks to coworkers, he starts to work on unresolved issues that may help him build his relationship with himself and Elinor.

This may be my favorite Pine Hollow novel so far. It touches on matters such as grief, the death of a sibling, cancer, learning disabilities, and mental health in a well written manner that I felt does justice to the matters within the narrative of the story. In terms of the romance, it's closed door and evolves fully closer towards the latter fourth of the novel. It's a slow burn to the final evolution of their romance, but as a romance reader it's not a surprise at that outcome. Speaking of burning, be ready to burn through book titles because there are quite a few book title name drops throughout this novel. That isn't surprising since Elinor is a librarian and Levi is a big audiobooker.

If you're new to the series, I recommend checking out the other two books before diving into this one. The characters at the center of the other novels are in this one and heavily focused on. Because of that I think it would help to have a background of who the other characters are before coming into To All the Dogs I've Loved Before.

One of the secondary characters we are introduced to is Charlotte, Elinor's sister, but she won't be staying in the background for long. I'm excited to see what'll happen with Charlotte when her story is told next year with Pride & Puppies. Jane Austen novels play a part in the story of their family, don't worry you learn all about it in the novel. I'll be curious to see if her story will be like a Pride and Prejudice retelling or any other Jane Austen-like retelling when it comes out.

This is a sweet second-chance romance between Elinor and Levi in the small town of Pine Hollow.

Dory, Elinor's adorable dog, keeps bringing them together even though Elinor would rather avoid her first love. There is healing and overcoming insecurities that both need to do and I thought the growth they had addressed these things nicely. It's easy to see that the connection between them was still strong even though they never had closure after the wedding was called off.

I have enjoyed each of the books in this series so far, but I think this is my favorite of the three. It can be read as a standalone but I definitely recommend the other books as well.

This is the third book in the Pine Hollow series by Lizzie Shane in her Pine Hollow series.
This book has some characters from her other books in the series but we also meet a new cast of characters here as well. This is Elinor and Levi's story. They had dated previously and it hadn't worked out so when a rascally Australian Shepard named Dory belonging to Elinor continually escapes her yard Levi is tasked to chase the dog down and return it because he is the police chief in Pine Hollow. The last thing Elinor wants to do is spend time with Levi but with Dory the escape artist she seems to have to do so on a rather frequent basis.
This is a sweet, charming small town romance that you'll enjoy reading.

To All the Dogs I've Loved Before is a second chance romance set in the picturesque small town of Pine Hollow. I loved getting to know what was behind the bits of Elinor and Levi we have seen in previous books. Elinor and Levi have both assumed caregiving roles in their lives and taken on a lot, in very different ways, and life hasn't always been kind to either of them. Filled with plenty of the quirky small town gossip and the constant, adorable antics of Elinor's rambunctious pup, Dory, there was so much to love about this satisfying story.

This was so good! I have to admit that I picked this book up almost entirely because of the adorable cover. Yep, all you have to do is put a cute dog on the cover to get my attention. Plus, the dog is actually a big part of the story which all too often isn’t the case. I was pulled into this book from the first page and found it to be an incredibly entertaining romance.

This was so good! Elinor and Levi almost married each other 3 years ago. That is until Levi dumped Elinor without any explanation. Elinor is no longer Levi’s biggest fan which is understandable. Levi spends his days chasing down Elinor’s dog, Dory, who happens to be an impressive escape artist, so the pair ends up seeing more of each other. But are those feelings still there? I really liked the characters in this book and thought that Elinor and Levi were great together. Both of them had a lot of personal issues to work through and I enjoyed watching each of them grow as a person. I loved the chemistry that these two had and was eager to see them work things out.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This is the third book in the Pine Hollow series but I read it as a stand-alone and thought that it worked well. I had such a good time with this one that I am now eager to see if I can get my hands on the other two books in the series just as soon as possible.

To All the Dogs I’ve Loved Before is the 3rd installment in the Pine Hollow series featuring the second chance romance of Elinor and Levi. She’s the school librarian with a dog that keeps escaping. He’s the chief of police & the one he keeps getting called to find and bring the dog home.

There’s so much I loved in this book!
🐾Dory, the Aussie shepherd.
🐾Elinor & Levi. There’s a definite connection and it was great to see them re-kindle, even if there was a lot of frustration to overcome.
🐾The town gossip column at the start of each chapter. What a hoot!
🐾Dual POVs
🐾Appearance’s, and a wedding, of characters from previous books.

I love this series so much and the characters that make up the world of Pine Hollow. I cannot wait for the next installment!

I just love this small town and group of friends. And well all the dogs :) This one is a second chance or third chance romance between the now school librarian and chief of police and have been friends from childhood. We get some of the characters from before and some new ones. Dory is just super funny and keeps getting out and is a bit of a match maker for these two.

I'm super exited for more of this series and hope its a good old long one as I need all these friends -sisters to get their HEA!!

I've been really enjoying reading the Pine Hollow series. So far I've loved each of the books. I will have to say that To All the Dogs I've Loved Before has been my favorite. We had to this year put our Australian Shepard mix to sleep this year after 15 years so Dory called to me.

Now it wasn't just Dory that I liked about the story I also enjoyed both Levi and Elinor. These two are perfect for each other and it killed me that they had such a hard time realizing it. You almost wanted to slap them upside the head and say "hey, knock it off already" but of course you know that they need to figure this all out for themselves plus the fact that they are on paper and wouldn't hear you anyway.

Poor Levi had so many issues. He let his parent's life rule his own. Which caused him to make a mess of it. It will take you a while to understand why he's done what he's done but it will finally come clear. I got him but that didn't stop me from thinking he was being crazy. He might have thought he had a good reason for ending his relationship with Elinor but did he really? I was glad that he finally did talk to someone about it.

Not to worry Elinor is no better. She's so busy living in the past and the things that have hurt her that she doesn't really let herself live. I think if she had dealt with any of it she might have been more aware of what had happened with Levi. She takes on way too much and spreads herself too thin.

After a while, these two finally get it together and talk and deal with their past and move on. As we wait for that you'll enjoy the story as it unfolds. I will mention it takes them a very long time to get back together and at times I wondered if they ever would but when I wasn't wondering that I was enjoying the story.

Not only will you like them you'll enjoy visiting past characters for the other books. As a whole, this is a sweet, easy-to-read romance that you'll want to add to your tbr pile.

Elinor Rodriguez is an elementary school librarian (yay!) whose heart was broken by Levi Jackson the town sheriff. They had been on again off again sweethearts growing up and three years ago he called off their engagement and wedding with no explanation. In their small town it is impossible to avoid each other and now they are going to be part of the same wedding party. In a nod to Bridgerton and Lady Whistledown each chapter starts with a bit of gossip and the two are constantly featured.

I enjoyed this book but it was honestly my least favorite in the the series. (I loved #2, Once Upon A Puppy.) Levi is very much an alpha male and either you will like his I know what's best attitude or you won't (I didn't). It comes to play in the story as part of the broken engagement. I think because they were already involved I missed the getting to know you part of courting. Some is told in flashbacks but not enough to think this is a couple heading to a HEA.

You can read this book on it's own but because of the ongoing friendships it will be more enjoyable read in order. For example this book has the wedding of the couple from the first book. I wouldn't call it a holiday romance but it does cover from pre-Thanksgiving to New Years Eve. Shane has created a lovely town and good friendships and her writing is engaging. This one just got a little repetitive in the characters motivations for me. These stories have mild cursing and while the others had fade to black romance this one is a slow burn with only some kisses shared. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for eARC in exchange for an honest review. (3.5 stars)

💔💞A four-footed streaker keeps them close🐶

This slow-build, squeaky-clean romance had a warm, fun, small-town setting as the backdrop for a broken couple still not ready to move on three years after their sudden break-up. Is it really over when you can't stop thinking of the whys and what might have been?

But the central character in this story, and I really mean character(!), is an escape artist Australian shepherd named Dory that dearly loves to be in the thick of things, not locked in her master Elinor's house! Having finished the book I still haven't quite figured out if she had a sneaky, romance-promoting, ulterior motive or if she just had to be free to explore, streak around town to create havoc with the traffic, and spend time with town Chief of Police Levi until delivered back to Elinor.

Her roaming brings the former couple back in contact time and again, leaving the way open for them to communicate since they can't avoid each other. And Levi, a fellow with a secret that he fears will ruin him in the eyes of friends and town residents, and a sad family background that messed big-time with his self esteem, finds the will and means to make some changes. I really think he was my favorite character because his whole aim in life was to help and protect the town and those he loved. And his efforts to study up on Austen novels because Elinor and her sisters are obsessed with Austen characters was so touching.

Elinor had lost a dear friend and her dream romance, so her hurt was understandable, but she seemed a bit unbending and judgmental, egged on by her youngest sister Charlotte. I did not like her constant complaining through a good part of the story when Levi offers a helping hand.

I enjoyed the plot, characters, the gossipy chapter starts that reinforced the small-town fish bowl in which this romance plays out and the celebratory, happy end. This was my first taste of author Lizzie Shane's writing and I can see myself looking for more.

Thanks to Forever/Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Sincere, charming, and fun!

To All the Dogs I’ve Loved Before is a heartwarming, rewarding tale featuring the intelligent, sensible Elinor and the stubborn, reliable Levi as they discover that the heart wants who the heart wants, and some things are definitely worth a second chance.

The prose is fluid and smooth. The characters are warm, dependable, and funny. And the plot is a delightful mix of life, love, family, friendship, small-town living, adventurous endeavours, nostalgic moments, romance, and a lovable, four-legged rascal named Dory.

To All the Dogs I’ve Loved Before is the third title in a series that, for me, just keeps getting better and better. It’s a sweet, playful, amusing read by Shane with characters I couldn’t help but root for and a swoon-worthy ending that left me smitten, satisfied, and hoping for more!

To All the Dogs I've Loved Before by Lizzie Shane (Pine Hollow #3) 3.5 stars

This is a very cute premise of a small town couple with a rescue dog as deus ex machina. I loved the dog, but since I didn't read the previous books I felt a little handicapped. Sometimes with series, you really need to read the previous books to get the full impact of a book. While each book is considered a stand alone, the small town references is missing for me. Elinor and Levi both have a history together, unfortunately it is not a pleasant one. Both of them have to go on a personal journey and grow in order to succeed in their second attempt. The book was enjoyable, but Dory the Australian shepherd literally stole the book. I look forward to more books from this series.

In Lizzie Shane's third Pine Hollow book, she brings the same charm and dog-lovers' bliss as her prior two novels in this series. This time around, we finally get to see what went down between the town's police chief, Levi, and the school librarian, Elinor. In this dual POV tale, we really get inside their heads and see Levi start to attend therapy, albeit unwillingly in the beginning. The portrayal of such a masculine and stoic character finally getting in touch with his emotions is great to see. This book was an enjoyable read, and I'm really looking forward to the next book, Charlotte's story (Elinor's sister).

Though I must say I wasn't entirely sure I wanted Elinor and Levi to get back together. They seemed to make an excellent childhood couple and great friends, and given how much they grew as individuals while apart, I almost wondered if they were better not together. This may be a minority opinion, and I still liked the book, but I never quite "shipped" the couple.

Thanks to Forever Pub for my ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
