I would have to say this is a 4.5 stars, but rounding it up to 5 stars for good measure. I loved this book, definitely such well written poetry that I would recommend.

Was some of it boring? Yes, but that is okay.

But also some of it was the best poetry I have ever read and I love that, and hope I can read more from this author.

We won’t all like everything author writes, and that’s the same with poetry. Melody did such a great job and I related to a lot of the poems, but others just didn’t connect/resonate with me(and that’s okay, because it could’ve connected with other readers more)

I liked a few of the poems, and was surprised to see that in general I resonated way more with the "left brain" poems that with the "right brain" ones. The cover is also very pretty. Sadly that's about all the positive things I have to say about this book. Most of the poems very repetitive and didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. My general opinion about this book is that I didn't like most of it and I certainly won't be reading it ever again.

Not every poem is going to hit you, but you're going to think about every poem because you're going to read it twice--once in a version that's inspired by the logical left side of the brain and next in a version inspired by the creative right side of the brain. As you read, you'll feel a bit like your brain is getting a workout.

This was a cool experience and I would definitely recommend reading it and then making all your friends read it.

This book had beautiful lines about self love from thinkers and emotionally sensitive person’s perspective. I enjoyed each page of the book. I definitely recommend this book to every one since sisterhood and self love can only save the world.

I love the idea that melody wrote this 2 and for her childhood self I feel like that is absolutely amazing and that's not something we see every day with an author 700 poems though is kind of ridiculous and then her idea of the left brain and the right brain is a very interesting concept this whole book is made to activate the whole brain experience not just the left brain are the right brain now you may be asking yourself what is the left brain and what is the right brain I didn't know there was a difference neither did I until she talked about the left frame bien for the thinkers and the right brain being for feelers carrying on so I put it all down home 10, I relate to so heavily, because you never know how much do how many burdens you're truly carrying, until you finally let them go, I love all of these, they are so personal, but can be directed to anyone, not just herself. This is more of an inspirational self-help home book than just a book of tandem homes. There is a poem in here, home number 40 about surrender, and the main question is fear or love, left side is fear bright side is love and palm 125 south care saved my body, say it self love saved my soul, I resonate with are on a very high high high level, you must read these poems, they will make you feel some type of way or think some type of way depending if you're a left brain or right brain, or like me both.

A big thank you to Net Galley for providing me with a copy in exchange of an honest review. While the thinkers and feelers concept was very interesting and something I have surely never seen before in a book, it was not accomplished by any means, to the point that it bothered me to see the change of font, as if anything was actually different. The poems felt very plain, in fact, they did not seem like poems at all, but actually motivational quotes. To be fair, I have seen better and actual poems on Instagram. I do not think that the content could be labeled as Instagram poetry as well, because most of the content is literally simple sentences broken into two or three lines. I could not connect with the content of this book and the poems lack distinctiveness and emotion, also are pretty repetitive. Unfortunately, this poetry collection did not resonate with me, it did not left me with any emotion, it did not give me anything to think about.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC of Self love poetry. This reminded me of the times I would reblog poetry on tumblr that was heart achingly relatable and powerful. That is what this poetry collection is. These poems are extremely empowering and motivational. They put into words the pain of putting yourself back together and finding love in yourself. Everything I strive to be has been cultivated into beautiful, lyrical prose and I’m grateful that I was able to read this.

This poetry collection has made it to the top 10 books of the year for me. This collection was very inspiring and made me feel like someone else understands where I am coming from when I struggle with my anxiety and depression. When you feel down and feel like nothing is going right for you I highly recommend that you pick up this uplifting collection of poetry and escape into a world that you might not know you need at the time!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review Self Love Poetry by Melody Godfred.
I enjoyed the concept behind this poetry book, left side of the book - to spark our thinking and the right side to spark our emotions.
I did enjoy some of the poems in this collection and enjoyed the read.
These poems reminded me that self love and self care is not selfish.

Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC!

I really enjoyed reading the poems and the format of the book was something I've never seen before, one side for the thinkers and the other side for the feelers. The poems were interesting, but they didn't wow me. Still, I love how the author decided to write poems about how we should put our self love first.

Typically I don't read poetry, however I really enjoyed this book. To start off the poems are not overly long. I've read some poetry books where the poems are really long and it makes me feel disconnected from the poem and I don't engage as well. However the poems in this book were the perfect length. I also love how this books is divided by poems for the left brain or the thinkers and the right brain or the feelers. I love reading the poems that are meant for those sides of the brain and as a person who is more right brained, I loved the poems in that section. Overall a great poetry book

I love reading poems and I can't say I am an expert into the matter, but as an enthusiast, I felt bittersweet sad. I'm grateful to have read this for free in exchange for an honest review, so I hope it would help.

The description regarding the two-fold poetry collection dedicated for the left and right-brain individuals get me excited. It's like, wow, first time to hear such execution. It arouses curiosity, per se.

Now, onto the contents. Left-brain poems are a bit stingy in lines. I know it's supposed to depict how the left-brain people process their own emotions, but it's just a bit shallow for me. It's more of like taken from someone's line then take in as a quote. I wonder if that is a poem.

On the other hand, right-brain poems expresses just fine. There are good ones and there are just repetitive lines that composes everything, but in overall, it's just fine.

I've encountered and read lots of these new form/style of poems that appears like some “quotable quotes” in its shortness (1 or 2 lines at most). I have nothing against such form/style, but I just felt a bit disappointed with the overall execution. Though not all poems are like that in this book, I just felt betrayed. The overall message is positive and uplifting, yet it doesn't move or stir me to feel something about the intended message. It just scratches the surface with words and nothing more.

This book is beautifully organized, starting off with the right brain and left brain, each following page has a "thinking" poem across the page from a "feeling" poem that relates to it. I thought I would relate more to the thinking poems but I found myself being equally drawn to poems on both sides. These poems are beautiful, they're real, and they explore all aspects of self love, and how difficult self love can be. I even wrote some of these poems down on post-its so I can see them around my house on bad days. I'll be buying a copy of this book when it comes out!

This poetry book was an uplifting collection of sentiments that will encourage anyone to take better care of themselves, especially after the global trauma we've all experienced over the past year. I liked the setup of left vs. right brain poems, even though reading an ebook version probably didn't allow that to be as effective as a paper format would. I generally preferred the left brain poems myself - they were written in fairly plain language and I think they would appeal to people that don't often read poems.

However, at a certain point the book started to seem a little repetitive and some of the poems are not the most unique ideas. There were some that verged on toxic positivity - you can't just will everything to be better magically in all situations and it can be harmful to suggest to people that they can. However, I still took good things from the book and would recommend it.

Some of my favorites included "My wish for you/If Anger sets you on fire" (pages 38/39) and "For every time they said/I set out to find" (pages 138/139)

First of all, I wanted to preface this by acknowledging the fact that the enjoyment for all pieces of literature and art was subjective in nature. This poetry collection, in my subjective opinion, is very bad. There are no emotions from any of the entries and it's too plain for my liking. I really don't like poems that are too flowery and uses unusual words, and this book was the total opposite of that in which it's just too plain and bland. I wished it has more flavor and personality because honestly, nothing stands out from the entries I have read in this collection. Tumblr has more memorable and hard-hitting poems than this collection, and I think that says something. The concept of thinkers and feelers was thrown out of the window after the second page, and the entries did not feel cohesive to the concept and with each other. In short, this was a mess that could have been avoided if each entry were polished well and has some personality with them.

Oh, man. I FEEL (if you read this book, you'll so get this little pun) like the universe put this book in my path for a reason. In her "Self Love Poetry", Melody Godfred truly did examine so many sides to what it means to be on a journey of self-love, growth, and healing. So much of what she managed to write down in such short, impactful lines resonated so deeply with me. She truly examine all the aspects and thoughts that come with learning to forgive yourself--learning to love yourself, too, for the sake of yourself first. There were so many powerful poems in this book, I felt myself tearing up through most.

I truly can't recommend this enough. If you're on your path of healing (even if you still need a little push to take the first step), this is definitely the book to read.

This is a very nice feel-good collection of poems with some very beautiful oneliners. I could not help but copy some of those into my journal.

That ís it though. I often missed the play with words, feeling like I was reading a collection of popular oneliners. I also caught a couple of 'you can choose to be happy'-bits, which can be problematic for those who cannot choose to be happy. I know that these kind of poetry collections are not meant to help people with clinical depression though, so I try to not be too harsh about that.

A very uniquely written bundel of poems. Loved how it was the thinker and the feeler side, it was really interesting to basically see the "same" poem being written twice.
