I loved this it was just so funny and I laughed out loud several times.

Prince Eugene is bored with his playboy lifestyle and becomes very excited when he finds a notice asking for people to join a quest. He decides this quest is for him even though some of the others in the quest group detest him. The aim of the quest is to solve a mystery and find out why people in a small town are missing.

And so the quest begins. Along the way there are other problems to solve including getting along with the fellow travellers. Eugene is a playboy and arrogant, but as he takes part in the quest he gets to relate to others who are not like him.

The artwork in this book is really lovely with bright colours and a nice balance between text and pictures. The story is engaging and has a fairytale feel to it and it is very enjoyable.

My only complaint is that the story is too short and now I want more! I do hope this is the first volume in a series because I definitely want more of Eugene.

Not strictly a "Dungeons and Dragons" book, but familiar to anyone who has played or watched a campaign that goes over 5 sessions. You don't decide to be an adventurer because you grew up loved and well-adjusted.

...except for that ONE GUY in the party. And here, that guy is ever-amorous, flighty, but also deadly Prince Eugene. Bored of the constant attention of servants and various comely visitors to his bedchambers, Eugene decides to join an adventuring party and see the world. He joins Michel, an elf rogue (with a dark past); Ani, a human wizard in a world which has long claimed that magic can only come from the gods; and Hocus, a devoted but bubbly paladin who teaches Eugene the wonders of ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*nonbinary pronouns!✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

This is a quick, cute romp, with a little spice thrown in. Because what kind of D&D party would it be if they didn't hook up?

I really liked the worldbuilding regarding magic. Ani is the only magic user we see who doesn't receive a blessing from a god, and she is regarded as a heretic. And like most heretics, the church is all too willing to put her to death for such blasphemy (and ignore their own blasphemy, of course). There's a lot of under-the-surface lore hinted at, and it makes me excited to see a sequel someday! I'm following the author, so I don't miss it.

A pampered prince has decided to join an adventuring group who was investigating disappearances. I love the bright colors. It is exactly what you want in a fantasy comic. It is meant for adults so look it over before you give it to a child. But it has been awhile since a book made me laugh so hard.

5 stars!

People are going missing in a nearby town. Listening to only their courage, our three heroes are ready for adventure and solve the mystery ! But they could use a fourth member for their team, so they put an ad to find someone and only very bored Prince Eugene answered the call.

This adult graphic novel is really silly and fun. Don’t expect anything serious in this story, the goal here is to make you laugh. I enjoyed the storyline. There isn’t really any break in the story. It is going fast, really fast and I loved how Kendra Wells fully used each main character in her plot. Some of them are ridiculous, especially Prince Eugene, who, because of who he is, expects a lot of things from others. I quite enjoyed the great diversity and queerness of the characters. Each of them has a special attribute which reminded me of D&D characters’ stereotypes.

**Disclaimer: I recieved a free eARC of Real Hero Shit by Kendra Wells through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this opportunity.

Real Hero Shit by Kendra Wells is an adult fantasy graphic novel about an unlikely group of adventurers who set about investigating the disappearance of some villagers.  It was published on February 22, 2022.  I rated it four stars.

Here's the summary from Goodreads:

The layabout Prince Eugene has decided on a whim that he will be a HERO . . . much to the dismay of the adventuring party of Michel, Hocus, and Ani. They are in need of an at least moderately capable fighter and it looks like Eugene, being a prince and all (albeit a bastard one), is going to be it as long as he wants in.
Life on the road is different than Eugene expected, but there's no time to wallow in pouty disappointment; townsfolk are going missing and our heroes have answered the call to adventure. It feels straightforward enough; the perfect opportunity for the prince to save the day and make his companions some coin before moving on to the next distraction. But outside the palace walls, Eugene crashes into a hard reality: the system that kept him safe in his silk-sheeted bed isn't particularly concerned with the well-being of anyone who isn't him.
Eugene will have to level-up his awareness if he means to be a real hero, and time is running short!

This graphic novel was a lot of fun.

Let's start with the art.  The colours in this graphic novel were really bright and vivid.  The characters all had a unique design and feel to them, and I really liked how it was easy to distinguish who was who.  I loved the setting in the background of the panels, and how detailed the panels were.  Overall, the art was super great.

Character wise, I loved all of them.  We're faced with an unlikely group teaming up together, but I really enjoyed the taste we got of each character.  In a shorter graphic novel, you can only really get a snippet, but I really enjoyed what I have read about the characters so far (at least I hope there will be more).   They had a fun dynamic together, and I wanted to have more and more of them.

The storyline was good.  I liked the way the characters teamed up with each other, and how it didn't focus too much on parts that didn't really add to the plot.  It really dug into the main plot, and it had good pacing.  I liked the tension that was built as they were investigating the crime.

Overall, I definitely recommend that you check out this graphic novel.

What a fun romp! I enjoyed the coloring in this graphic novel on top of the ridiculous adventure the characters get in to. I was sad that there wasn't much resolution but I'm excited to see what the next volume has in store! I would highly recommend this funny, unique take on what it takes to be a hero.

Thank you so much to the publisher and author for the review copy.

I absolutely devoured this fun fantasy romp! What a great example of short and sharp world building, snappy dialogue and fantastic representation.

Can't wait to see what comes next in this series :)

This was a fun romp in an adventuring world. Follow along as these heroes and a prince help to solve the dark mystery that is plaguing a town. There's also quite a lot of flirting and a little naughty humor. It looks YA, but might be better catalogued as Adult. An extra purchase if you are in an area that has a lot of D&D players who read comics.

Rating: 4.5

This was a short and quick fantastical Quest graphic novel following a rag-tag group of characters trying to uncover the mysterious disappearances of people in a small town.
Full of queerness and perfect for both fans and players of Dungeons & Dragons. I seriously hope this gets a sequel - absolutely delightful and fun.

A very enjoyable, very queer little romp. Definitely hope to see more of this in the future! My only complaint was that I wanted more of it!

Real Hero Shit by Kendra Wells is a fun and playful read about adventurers doing heroic (or close to, anyway) shit! This is definitely a grown-up comic, though I wouldn't stop teens from reading it. There are just some adult themes.

Fun, colorful high fantasy adventure. All the characters are well-developed and make the story enjoyable. This is not reliant on plot, it's just a nice found-family situation in which most of the core characters have an opportunity to learn about themselves and their fellow party members. Hocus was definitely one of my favorite characters, so I wish e got more time to be at the forefront of the story. Overall, I enjoyed it and will be recommending it for purchase at my library (we need more adult graphics that aren't Marvel).

This graphic novel was a very enjoyable read. The characters reminded me a lot of members of my own D&D party. I even sent a couple panels to our group chat recommending it.

I love me a snarky horny prince type and Eugene was devilishly sweet. In such a short span of time I got to know enough about the characters that they all shown brightly and you could just imagine them interacting with more of the world!

I look forward to seeing more work from the author in the future!

Loved this fun queer adventure story. Nonbinary rep, gay rep. The hot horny prince not being your typical good looking guy but still very arrogant. A little bit of enemies to lovers. And whole lot of sticking it to the church

Really enjoyed this adult swords and sorcery graphic novel. The plot was a bit D&D campaign light, but the characters were well rounded and had realistic relationships (interpersonal and sexual), the art was excellent, the universe was interesting, and I would love to spend more in this setting with these adventurers.

We start off with an adventuring party that is looking for a fourth member for their group. They find that fourth member in the crown prince, Prince Eugene. They set out on a mission from the underguild to investigate missing townsfolk. They get to the town and start to investigate. Can they find out where the townspeople have gone in time to save them? You'll have to find out for yourself!

Overall, I really, really enjoyed this graphic novel! I hope that there are many more adventures after this first book.

Real Hero Shit is a graphic novel with four main characters going on a quest.
And that's all I will say because I think this book is best to be discovered as you read it.

I like the characters in this, I think that for such a short graphic novel, they were pretty layered and really interesting.
The plot was pretty good but I felt like it reached its peaked a little fast and that the resolution was even more rushed. I would have liked a little more layering in those parts.

Still, all in all, a really enjoyable book, with great representation all around and a fun, engaging cast that I would really like to see more of!

This was so much fun! I really loved this adventure story and how openly queer our protagonist was! I loved how he completely accepted himself, despite looking different from the people around him. I loved how the group helped people and I loved the diversity in the group. This was so grand and I absolutely loved it!

This was a really snarky, fun, and adventurous comic!! I enjoyed the pacing and absolutely loved the characters. Great nonbinary and queer rep too. I would have loved a bit more of an epilogue or set up for another installment, but otherwise this was so lovely!
