There were a few stories in here that I really enjoyed, and a few that were alright. I think there were a lot more that I didn't really enjoy, unfortunately. Anthologies can be kind of hit or miss for me in general, so maybe my fault for requesting this one. Some stories were also less erotic than I had kind of assumed they would be.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Anonymous Sex is a collection of erotic stories written by a group of authors. It's filled with short tales of passion and intimate encounters between friends, married couples, and even strangers. Some of the stories I really got into. I do have two favorites in this book: "History Lesson" and "Find Me."
You may want to check your morals at the door because people do enjoy affiars in this book. The moral compass is pointing South, just so you know.. "History Lesson is about a woman who has an agreement with her husband that when they are away on work trips, anything goes. They are allowed to have affiars. This one is sexy and I kind of wish it was longer, but the way it ended was very cool. "Find Me" is kind of a fantasy in which a woman is set to get married in Nevada, but ends up encountering a very sexy thief. I love the way it's written. The narrative style is really enjoyable and the way the love scene plays out - it's just really sexy.
Some stories didn't do it for me, but that may just be my personal preference. If you love reading books in which your fantasy comes to live on the page, this might be for you.

This book was not good. The stories were strange and all over the place. It just didn't seem like award-winning authors wrote these stories.

This novel was wonderful and filled with the most creative writing! It definitely kept my attention and the good vibes going. Thank you to all for allowing me to read this eARC!

This book didn't live up to what I wanted it to be....I got this because of one author I knew had submitted a story that I really like....but when I started reading the stories...I just didn't connect with enough of the stories to continue on to even figure out which was his.

This is sort of the literary equivalent of a zipless fuck–instead of an anonymous stranger having their way with you, a group of literary authors share dirty stories, leaving the reader to only guess at who wrote which lascivious tale. It’s both intriguing and a little bit of a cop-out.

As a collection, the stories are well-written, but not necessarily any better than one of Susie Bright’s best erotica anthologies, because by definition, erotica has to be sensuous, sensual, and with exquisitely rendered sensory detail. There are perhaps more stories that end on a poignant note, and the collection is more literary, with characters that discuss Rilke and modern art. Stories are prefaced by poetry, peppered with allusions, and seasoned with phrases in foreign languages (“Post coitum omne animalium triste est“). The stories cover first times, online hookup sex, group sex, prison sex, hate sex, infrequent married sex.

In “History Lesson,” a historian has a Same Time Next Year BSDM affair with a colleague at the annual conference they both attend. In “Find Me,” a historical tale of an arranged marriage between a widow and a rancher; on her way to meet her new husband to be, Eloise is seduced by a train-robbing stranger in a bear coat on the train. There is a hot retelling of Rapunzel, a horny middle-aged teacher grappling with the sexual life of her teeenaged daughter, In one rather meta tale, the narrator opens with wondering if the other included authors will recognize her story, implying she’s been involved with one of them–in another, the characters discuss how no one writes about real sex, sometimes boring and awkward and mundane and disappointing–but they will.

There are (unintentional?) motifs as well: planes and trains feature in several tales, as does clockwatching during sex. Rapunzel comes up twice, Shakespeare multiple times. While multicultural and set all over the world, no stories focus on trans, plus-size, disabled, or neurodiverse characters, though there is an elderly gentleman reminiscing (which I would not define as elder sex). Still, this is a nice addition for a personal or library collection.

I received a free advance reader’s review copy of #AnonymousSex from #NetGalley.

For a book about anonymous, taudry sex, this book fizzled. It felt tepid and unsexy without real chemistry to tie it together. As a reader, I didn't feel hooked to keep reading.

This collection of stories about sexual desire and erotic implication was an interesting book to read. In the preface the founding authors state that what they hoped for this book was stories that without including explicit sexual encounters would entice the reader to feel atmospheric arousal. They reference past stories that proved similar and authors who have been able to write such materials and express their hope that this work of fiction can be comparable. I think they succeeded.

An interesting collection of stories of lust, love, and sex written anonymously by different authors. I preferred some stories over others, but loved the idea of this book. A look at some of the most intimate moments in peoples lives. Who wouldn't be intrigued?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

I'm having trouble reviewing this because, as any anthology, I enjoyed some of the pieces and didn't enjoy others. Overall, this was an adventure, because the entire time I felt I was trying to figure out which writer wrote which piece, which was fun.

How do you give feedback on Erotica? You sit back, enjoy the ride, and adore the aspects of intimacy and sexuality that's often challenged or ignored.

I just think I was over excited and I love a good erotic story so when I seen these were short stories I thought this is right up my alley. Some of the stories could’ve been left out.. Some were interesting. I’m just not too crazy about this book

ANONYMOUS SEX is an interesting anthology of stories about sex. There are 27 different stories from 27 authors that range from tame to steamy. Some of the stories I really likes while others were underwhelming. The book definitely keeps you guessing who wrote what. I think the concept is fun but I think I'm one of those weird people that actually don't prefer short stories! Overall, I'm glad I read the book.

Thanks to NetGalley, and Scribner Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a pretty good book, even if I do wish the stories were longer. I do like the fact that they are all anonymous so you don't go into each story with any bias.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3...I think I'm going to have to agree with some of the other reviews I read that this book has a cool concept but it was poorly executed. These stories were interesting so it did hold my attention but some/most of them were awkward and not at all sexy.

This is such a unique collection. I love that we can recognize the authors but we have no idea who wrote what. While it’s fun to guess who wrote what, the stories themselves are wonderful to read.

Some entertaining stories, others less so. Overall the collection was meh. I had to force myself to finish it.

The concept of knowing who the authors were, but not knowing which author wrote which story, is intriguing in general. But when it's a book of erotic short stories, it makes it SO much more exciting. I follow so many of these authors and read their works religiously, and I loved not knowing who wrote what here. Because as much as we want to keep our wants and needs private, they also may feel like they need to keep their erotic stories private. But thank goodness they decided to share them with the world!

It's been a hot minute since I've read any erotica. But give me 27 authors with 27 erotic stories and you have no idea who wrote what? Well, don't you threaten me with a good time!!

Alas, meep. I was thoroughly intrigued - especially with this large cast of amazing authors. And I'm sure, like with most anthologies there is something for everyone. Unfortunately, for the most part these were a miss for me. The very first story had me intrigued - so much that if I knew who the author was, I'd write them and see if we can't get this story expanded as I REALLY need to know what happened after that necklace incident! WINNER. But the rest fell a bit flat for me. And I didn't feel most stories were all that "erotic" ... though that definition varies for everyone and their sex spectrum.

Long story short... swing and... a miss! Let's just say that for the most part, it was a bit... soft. Womp womp.
