A psychological thriller that takes place in the fictional suburb of Detroit. Like most upper-middle-class suburbs, you get neighbors that are friendly, nosey, and just downright rude. But when Jessica finds out one of her neighbors died, she struggles to see that it was an accident suspecting foul play.

The story follows Jessica as she tries to find out who the murderer is amongst her neighbors and tries to convince those around her that she isn’t crazy, but that there really is something sinister going on in the neighborhood. While on the hunt for the truth she navigates family drama, motherhood, and friendship that takes a toll on her everyday life.

Wolfe created the perfect suburb and surroundings for readers to feel safe and yet get the feeling that something is off. While the book is definitely a slow burn the major twists caught me off guard, readers will never see them coming, making for a fun and entertaining read.

The characters are hard to love, especially Jessica’s husband and her best friend, their actions make them seem selfish and untrustworthy. While Jessica, the protagonist, is loveable she gives the reader the feeling that she is too gullible and trusting, making some of her choices a bit unbelievable or even nonsensical.

The ending was a complete shock which made the book all the better, but I did struggle with how Wolfe wrapped up everything in a neat bow. It failed to feel realistic.

The overall plot is well written and an easy read making this book perfect for a chill afternoon or a lazy day at the beach. What this book lacks in thrilling moments it makes up for with mystery and intrigue.

Thank you for the ARC

Wildly suspenseful! Had me at the edge of my seat the whole second half. Lots of twists and turns and you really don’t know who to trust! Great read.

I always enjoy a classic “who-done-it” book, and this one did not disappoint. From the beginning I narrowed it down to 3 people and I was correct about one of my choices. There was a twist in the end that I didn’t expect so that was a cool surprise. The story was easy to read and filled with suspense. I found myself relating to Jessica because I’m also a mom who recently moved to the south with my husband and toddler (2.5 year old). I understood Jessica second guessing her decisions as a mom, it happens often with parents lol. In all, very good read. I want to thank #netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in advance.

This book isn't as fast paced as some thrillers but still kept me engaged. It starts off slow but then picks up for the ending, which you definitely won't see the end coming! There were some clues along the way but the reader didn't have all of the information until the very end of the book. It was a little disappointing to see the author write the police force off with not investigating a murder because they didn't like the victim, that part of the book knocked it down a few pegs for me. There is a way to let the character investigate on her own without perpetuating incorrect stereotypes.

We Live Next Door is the story of Jessica Millstone who lives in a quiet suburban neighborhood.

Or at least, it was quiet until her busy-body neighbor dies under mysterious circumstances, and Jessica realizes that she lives in a community of murder suspects. As Jessica starts snooping, her life begins to unravel, and she has no idea who she can trust.

We Live Next Door starts slowly, but the pace picks up in a race to an exciting end.

I throughly enjoyed this book, it grabbed me straight away and didn’t let go . I raced through this book, desperate to find out the ending and boy, I wasn’t disappointed. A brilliant read. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Let me start out by saying this book was phenomenal. Laura Wolfe, is an author that sets you up to hang on her every word. This story had so many different components that were perfectly woven together. I gobbled this one up in one sitting and I can not wait to see what Laura Wolfe comes out with next.

You think you know the people next door… What if they know you better?

Jessica always wanted to move back to her hometown, Ridge View Pines . So, with her husband Mark, and daughter Isabelle they make the leap and return! When Jessica's neighbor Barbara is found dead, Jessica thinks it is something so much more than what the cops have dismissed.

Then Barbara's son is also found dead! Jessica knows there is a killer out there haunting her favored hometown. Jessica's concerns deepen as other strange things start to happen. Constantly feeling as though she is being watched, Jessica is afraid she will be the next victim.

The last couple of chapters became really intense and had a major twist. I devoured this book and even went back and reread the last couple of chapters to make sure I didnt miss anything.

Due out November 5, 2021, you do not want to miss this!

Raced through this book while I binge watched Season Three of You and guess what?? They were a perfect fit!!

We Live Next Door is a brilliant domestic suspense set in a quaint neighborhood where everyone knows everyone's businesses and nothing ever is a secret. They even have an app to talk about the local community!

So when the elderly lady who is always fussy and complaining about anything and everything dies of accidental drowning, her neighbour Jessica can't help but notice tiny details that makes her wonder if there's more to the old woman's death that what's said.

Soon this fixation changes into obsession, as Jessica becomes reckless, lethargic and definitely careless. And someone doesn't like her poking her nose into what doesn't concern her.

Honestly, I thought Jessica was way too nosy for her own good. She has a good life, a good husband, a cute child and a caring mom but she is just bored and wants more.

The book was a slow burn but I enjoyed the domestic drama and cannot help but suspect every character that came in the way. It's why I love this genre. Overall, a bingeable read.

Thanks, Bookouture for letting me read it.

We Live Next Door slowly drew me in but kept me hooked until the last page.

There are a lot of twists and turns , nice characters and ones you love to hate.

Secrets galore !

What more could I ask for?

The neighbourhood message board is quite the concept: how do you know who is actually posting and be nice but that is not always the case.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a thriller of a read.

This was a really great book and just devoured it but SPOILER alert one of the plot twists at the end through me and I felt like it was not resolved. I re-read the last few chapters a few times to see if I had missed something.

Apart from that just really enjoyed this book and will look for more by this author. Really do recommend.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Do you really know your neighbors? So many secrets! Jessica and Mark decide to buy Jessica’s childhood home in Ridgeview Pines. A few older neighbors still live there, one in particular that everyone hates, Barbara Draper, is found dead on the bathroom floor. Jessica becomes obsessed with her death, thinking it wasn’t an accident but a homicide. It gets twisty and suspenseful! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

Jessica lives with her husband Mark and their young daughter Isabelle in Ridgeview Pines, a leafy suburb in Detroit, Michigan. Following a tragic accident, a less than desirable resident dies, though Jessica suspects foul play and when more strange things start to happen her life is quickly turned upside down.

Not every book will be award winning, not every book can be masterfully written. But all books serve a purpose, and in this case it was a good old fashioned thriller; something that I can burn through quickly during commutes to help me clear my head. In that regard it is no less worthy of my respect than any other book.

There were a few things I didn't like about the book. The characters are all a bit sterile; Jessica, Mark, Isabelle, Sophie, Phil, Rick, Barbara, etc. all feel a bit soulless and bland. I also think the story, for the most part, was pretty predictable and I never found myself really gripped by it. I suspect the first point has something to do with that. I don’t think it was written particularly well either, the dialogue was pretty robotic at times, though probably because I am comparing it to the literary fiction I have read recently. In the end though, I suppose that doesn’t really matter. For me, a book of this genre is supposed to be an easy read that allows me to escape (momentarily) the minutiae of everyday life, and it did just that.

I wanted this book to grab me and pull me in, but there was just enough grip to keep me reading. In a neighborhood that hold secrets, the reader follows Jessica as she tried to make sense of deaths (murders?) while pondering threats that were aimed at her family. While I didn't get into Jessica's mind as to what always motivated her, the ending of the book provided a good twist.

I was given a copy of We Live Next Door by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

We Live Next Door is a thriller that pleasantly surprised me. It tells the story of Jessica, a wife and mother, who has moved back into her childhood home. Now one of the (most hated) neighbors has died, and Jessica is suspicious, even though nobody else really seems to be. Jessica becomes borderline paranoid as she works to solve the mystery, and at times, seems slightly unhinged. But it turns out that she’s seeing some problems that everyone else is missing.

The plot of this novel was really well done. The characters were believable and the relationships complex. Jessica is mostly likeable, though sometimes a bit naïve. I had big issues with her husband Mark. I won’t give anything away by telling how that situation resolves, but just know that it does.

This book involves a lot of relationships and relationship issues. It’s about how we know our neighbors a little too well, or maybe not as well as we think we do. It also deals with domestic violence, infidelity, drug use, and of course, murder. Even though it is a murder mystery, I felt that this book was ultimately about motherhood, looking beyond outward appearances, and following your dreams.

This is a new author to me and I would certainly try another of her books. I really enjoyed this storyline - it started off as a slow burner but kept my interest - all the different characters on the street entwined as neighbours. I did not expect the ending and felt it was cleverly finished.

Enjoyable psycholgical thriller but with a good dose of ‘Whodunit’
The Drapers are the street oddities, Barbra forever causing trouble and writing nasties on the community forum and when she dies in an ‘accident’ it’s true to say no one is over fussed…..well one person is, Jessica, from 2 down, who saw something and wont let it drop
And so this fast paced yet relaxing story began, I say fast paced as so much happens to so many people in the street and yet say relaxing as the writing was well it was relaxing, not frantic or rushed but pulled you in, told the story well and made it a pleasure to get involved with
The story gave many red herrings and at one point I suspected everyone, exactly as the author intended
Well written and just a good solid book for which you can ask no more for than that 😊

9/10
5 Stars
