This is a lovely, sweet book. It would be a good bedtime book. I can also see it interesting very young children. The photos will catch their attention and there are few enough words that you can keep going without them losing interest before you're done.

"Calm" is an information picture book that encourages young children and adults alike to manage big feelings. The gentle rhyming text will help soothe young readers while they look at photographs of all types of families showing unconditional love, support, and calm.

I will make this a "go-to" Readers Advisory item for parents and caregivers of children ages 0-3 years old.

Calm by Dr. Jillian Roberts is a lovely board book that introduces young children to the importance of slow, deep breaths and seeking support from a loving caregiver. It also has beautiful photos of family members from different cultures soothing little ones.

Favorite quote: "...you can always count on my unconditional love and for me to share my calm."

An excellent beginning board book to help small people deal with very big feelings. The pictures are great for illustrating emotions and helping kids learn to recognize and name them. The text is simple and sweet--a reassuring rhyme to let readers know they'll be supported in processing their feelings.

Kids will engage well with the vivid photos and they depict families of all kinds, so most kids will be able to recognize themselves on the page. This is appropriate for toddlers and the very youngest pre-K kids, so it would be great to have on hand in a classroom library as a way to start conversations about strong emotions.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This informative board book teaches a valuable life lesson to both the young and old. Adults need to be the calming influence in a little one's life when they are overwhelmed with feelings that they cannot control that upset them greatly. It is the adult's role to soothe, protect and administer unconditional love so a child can recognize these overpowering feelings and learn how to dissipate them. Loving adults can rock a wee one by snuggling them in close and rocking them back and forth, hold onto their hands as they walk along together, use a gentle soothing voice, and help their child to understand those big feelings and how to let them go, just to name a few.

"Calm" has real life photos that perfectly enhance the message that the author is presenting. The themes in this book include: co-regulation, feelings, mindfulness, babies and toddlers and parenting. I highly recommend "Calm."
