Love this! I think this is a great resource for teaching kids of all ages, and especially those with social skills deficits, how to make friends. I love all the different examples of how they can start conversations, engage with peers, and different activities they can do. It's colorful and the layout of the book is very aesthetically pleasing.

This is a colorful, inclusive interactive reader for young kids to learn how to make new friends, take turns talking, start conversations, and be good friends. Practice and example situations are given for children to interact with another reader. A short glossary and index at the end can help make understanding and finding new topics easier. List of further reading for a helpful adult to look up is also provided.

Five-minute friendship starters is a great friendship recipe for the shy children who are clueless when it comes to making friends. The author, Marie-Therese Miller has just made the concept of making friends so easy by listing specific strategies on how to make friends. Even the beautifully illustrated pictures in this book which are very easy to follw by kids including the toddlers clearly depicts the message that no kid should be left behind when it comes to enjoying the adventures of the friendship.

Five-Minute Friendship Starters is a short and easy to understand book to help children establish new friendships. There is a lot of diversity in the children portrayed in the story as well as bright, uncluttered pages. Words and activities for starting friendships are clearly presented using beloved Sesame Street characters. This would be suitable for young children as well as neurodiverse kids.

This book is not out until February 2022, but I could have really used this for my daughter earlier this year. Instead, I will get a copy for when my son starts school! This story walks you through ways to make a friend. It is not told in a story format, but rather as a how-to. It starts at out with how to introduce yourself to others, and then ideas for conversation starters, and ideas to play together. All our Sesame Street friends are sprinkled throughout (looking at you Bert and Ernie!)

I don’t care how old my kids get - there will always be a place in our house for some Sesame Street magic!

I can't wait to get a copy of this for my pre-K classrooms! Basic social skills (introducing yourself, talking and listening, playing together) are explained in simple, positive terms with great pictures of both Sesame Street characters and a wonderful variety of kids of all kinds, so almost any reader will be able to see themselves on the page.

Suggestions for things to say and ask are given, so kids have words and concrete examples to practice their friend-making skills. Games and activities are also suggested, including some remote ideas appropriate for our brave new world. This would be a great circle time read for preschoolers, as well as a one-on-one read up through early elementary to refresh kids on positive social behaviors.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

5 Minute Friendship starters is a how-to book for kids on how to make friends. This book would be especially helpful for kids who are about to start school and be socialized with new people for the first time. It would also be helpful for shy kids or kids on the spectrum who might have a harder time putting themselves forward to make new friends at school. The pictures and colors are vibrant and high-quality and what you'd expect from a big production like Sesame Street. Sesame Street does great work.

Thank you to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
