Princess Fuzzypants here: Chantilly, who runs the local historical society, sees dead people. Ever since she had a crack on the noggin, they come and ask her help to right a wrong that will allow them to find peace. When the ghost of a long dead citizen of her little Georgia town shows up in the doorway of her office, he claims he killed the person who died the day before. She is baffled. It seems she will first have to solve the ghost’s murder, for which someone has been in prison for a very long time.

She is forced to rely on the assistance of many in her community to unravel several convoluted; mysteries before she can discover the connection between the two murders. Her boyfriend, the cop, and her friends who are also aware of her “gifts” become embroiled in her efforts. But it appears if she does not back off, her boyfriend may lose his job and she may lose him. He asks her to stop getting involved in his investigation but she is quite impetuous and hot-headed. In spite of his pleas, she steamrollers ahead, putting herself and his career in jeopardy.

But there is a black mist that seems to be following her. She thinks it must be something evil that has attached itself to her. When she learns the identity she is both relieved and grateful. It is a rather sweet twists that I can see developing very nicely in tandem with the curve her personal life is about to take.

Five purrs and two paws up.

I was happy to read another instalment in this entertaining series and enjoyed this one.
It's a solid mystery that kept me guessing, the characters are likeable and the world building is interesting.

suppose jumping into a series this far in could have been part of the problem, but all the components are there for something that would be right up my alley: cosy, paranormal, ghosts, psychic. A cat. All things that would normally be. It was okay; a light, quick, easy read perfect for Hallowe'en, but not sure it's a series I'll be adding to my TBR pile. Perhaps if I was more familiar with the characters and the story arc it might have sat a bit better. I found the writing was a little awkward and it felt a bit slow, rambling along rather than running.

It's obviously a very popular series with many, just not one for me.

Déjà Boo is the 6th Chantilly Adair paranormal cozy by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. Released 16th Nov 2021 by Severn River Publishing, it's 178 pages and is available in paperback, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free.

This is a very (very) light paranormal cozy with a protagonist who can see and interact with ghosts. The ghosts she encounters are just as interested and engaged with living as they were before they died. Additionally, there's an unexplained dark shadow flitting around threateningly throughout.

Much of the plot turns on Chantilly's insistence on investigating the claims of the not-so-dearly departed (who can lie and mislead as well in the afterlife as they did before), putting herself in danger and threatening her boyfriend's professional reputation and job, since he's an actual professional officer of the law and it's not doing him any favors to have a girlfriend who is continually communing with the spirit world and putting herself in danger.

The plotting is straightforward and action driven. The dialogue is a bit over the top but not egregiously so for a light cozy. It's a squeaky clean fast read which readers who enjoy paranormal cozies will find diverting. Also worth noting, it's set in the southern USA and I found the vernacular (and sweet tea, and all the "bless your heart"-ing) a bit much. Readers who love southern fried cozies will not mind.

Three and a half stars. Easy and fast read.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is a great book, I really enjoyed it! Chantilly has another ghostly visitor to help. Past and present collide in this mystery, whith twists and turns to keep it interesting. I love all the characters! It’s a fun read! I can’t wait for the next book!

This was book I have read in this series’s don’t I feel it can be a stand alone.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Even though I had not read any of the previous titles I was able to slip into Chantilly’s world easily snd was not lost.

There was plenty of trusts that kept me guessing and the ending was a surprise.

This is an honest review of ARC I received from NetGalley.

Chantilly Adair finds herself trying to solve two cases: one from the past and one from the present. A ghost confesses to a crime, but Chantilly discovers someone else confessed to the murder and is currently in jail. Unfortunately, the police cannot take the word of a ghost. Chantilly needs proof if she is going to get a man out of prison. When someone local is murdered, Chantilly is convinced the cases are connected. Someone, though, is not happy with her sleuthing and attempts to thwart her efforts. Can Chantilly resolve the cases before she ends up the next victim? Deja Boo by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is the 6th A Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series. I suggest reading the series in order. I discovered after I started reading that Deja Boo is not a standalone book (lacking background information on characters and town). My mother read the first five books in this series and has been eager for Deja Boo. She recommended that I read one of the books. I was fortunate to get a copy of Deja Boo. I started reading Deja Boo and I felt like I was plopped into the middle (it is like starting a movie an hour into it). The story is full of quirky characters in a unique town. It can be hard to keep track of all the characters especially when two of them have the same name. The mysteries were alright. I did not find it challenging to unravel the clues and arrive at the correct solution (my mother says I have read too many mysteries). Chantilly has a dark ghost following her and she has no clue who the specter could be. I enjoyed the reveal of the spirits identity. The ending will have fans of the series smiling. I had a tough time wading through this book. I found the writing awkward and the pacing slow. I felt like I was trying to race through quicksand. I’m afraid that I did not enjoy reading Deja Boo (as you can tell). My mother began reading Deja Boo afterhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4334511891 I finished it, and she gave up after reading a quarter of the book. I am glad it was not just me. While Deja Boo is not the right book for me, others find it delightful. Please obtain a sample to see if Deja Boo suits you. Deja Boo is a light paranormal tale with stray spirits, a closed case, fun friends, a dashing detective, good food, and two maddening murders.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Severn River Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series. It reads well as a stand alone, but reads even better if you know the characters. This was an enjoyable read. It is a great cozy mystery. Chantilly sees ghosts and can't stop herself from interfering. This of course gets her in trouble with her boyfriend a police detective Jack. The characters are sassy, fun and likeable. Truly just fun to read. 4 stars

Chantilly Adair is a psychic in that she can talk to the dead. Due to that special talent she tries to help the dead. She has a detective boyfriend. Instead of being helpful with the case, he is causing difficulties for her. She doesn’t understand why. Suddenly, she is stuck into a double murder. What happened? Why can’t she find out the truth. Will she be able to solve her case?

The author has written a paranormal cozy mystery novel.. This is the sixth book in the author series. The story does focus on relationships. Even though this is part of a series, I found myself enjoying the mystery as I didn’t feel like I do sometimes wishing I had read the books in order. I enjoyed Chantilly’s personality. It’s a good mystery!

Chantilly Adair can see (and sometimes hear) ghosts since she took a bad fall. She’s been helping those who contact her when they are stuck in limbo until something pertaining to their death is resolved.

In this episode, she is told by a ghost that he is responsible for the death of someone that saw another taking blame and is now sitting in jail for the crime. Trying to take on the mystery of the ghost to set things right, another murder occurs that she is sure is linked to the old case.

I usually enjoy some paranormal in mysteries, particularly cozy mysteries, but in this case had a problem with Chantilly’s attitude and never really did warm up to her. Nor did I find the plot to be a barn-burner. There are numerous characters and flipping between the old case and new had my head spinning with similar names and relationships.

The author, however, does have an interesting writing style and I know the series is popular. There is a sprinkling of humor and the conclusion was drawn quickly and neatly. No doubt her followers will enjoy this one; it just wasn’t my cup of cozy tea. 3.5 stars rounded up

I was happy to be back in this world as I like how nosy Chantilly is, and I love how her and Jack are so in love. However, in this latest, that love is tested as the latest ghost she is helping is tied up with an investigation of Jack’s and Jack’s new boss is not one to mess around with. It was interesting the twists and turns this latest mystery had, and I was not real surprised with the reveal, but what I really liked was the end when we found out about the shadow. That threw me for a loop! Fun characters, interesting mystery, and a great ending. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is book 6 of the Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium series, I haven't read any of the previous books in the series, but from what was said in the storyline, Chantilly fell down some stairs and hit her head and ever since she has been able to see and communicate with ghosts. She uses that ability to help her detective boyfriend solve crimes (although he remains somewhat sceptical) and she helps the ghosts to move towards the light if they want.. This is a light, quick read that is perfect for anyone who enjoys paranormal cozy mysteries.

Deja Boo by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is a very enjoyable addition to the Chantilly Adair Psychic Medium mysteries. Her characters are fun and believable, even the seeing of ghosts. This book was just what I needed on a gloomy Fall day.

Déjà Boo is the sixth book of this series but I have easily followed the story, even if now I'm curious to read the previous books.

Paranormal mysteries are my favourite sub genre and get to read this book during Halloween day was a plus. It was a nice read with a good storyline, a tough mystery to solve and a suspenseful ending.

Chantilly can see and speak to ghosts after an accidental fall, she helps them with the earthly problems that keep them suspended in the limbo.
In this book Chantilly has to shed some light on a murder happened years before that interwines with a more recent one. The investigation is complex and intricate and more than once Chantilly endangers her safety and jeopardising her boyfriend, Jack, work as police detective.

I liked Chantilly, she is still trying to find a good balance between her life and her newfound skill, her life is complicated. I could feel her being pulled in different directions from her family, work and ghosts, that's a lot of pressure for a woman.

I didn't know this author before but now I'm hooked with her work, I want to read her back list.
You don't want to miss this one.

Chantilly Adair is back and investigating the murder of Jerry Watts, a ghost who says he knows who murdered him. Is that really what he wants? Jack Levitt who Chantilly is dating is trying to solve a recent murder. Chantilly realizes that the murder from the past and the present murder are connected with help from Olivia, Thelma and Del. All that is left is catching the murderer.

I love this series from Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. The characters are likable and so much fun to read about. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

This very readable paranormal series follows heroine Chantilly Adair's journey through her developing her mediumistic skills brought on by a head injury from a fall. Like most cozy series set in small Southern towns, there are a plethora of the requisite supporting characters and a detective boyfriend. What sets Chantilly apart is the growth of her paranormal skills and her dedication to helping the spirits who come to her despite the complications her quests often bring to her personal and family relationships.

A distressed spirit kicks off Deja Boo by confessing to a recent murder. Turns out that there are two murders to be solved, the recent one and an older one. With one suspect in prison after admitting his guilt but plenty of others with motive, Chantily must sort out tangled family histories to find the answer. In fact, those tangled family histories are a bit hard to follow sometimes and the ultimate motive seems a little convoluted. Despite this, Deja Boo is a fun read and the ending will bring quite the payoff for series fans.

Full Disclosure--NetGalley and the publisher provided me with a digital ARC of this book. This is my honest review.
