This was a funny one liner read, a Cinderella Rom-com at its finest. This was my first Lindsey Kelk book, and it won't be my last. It was a wonderful love story that also kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I highly recommend the read.

Thank you NetGalley and Lindsey Kelk for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

This is a great read if you need something light and cute. This is the kind of novel that I could have pictured being a movie during the late 2000s- It has that classic rom-com feel. What this book subverts though is how light on the romance this is and how heavy it is with focusing on the main character. This is more of a self-journey as opposed to purely a romance book, and after reading so many other books in the genre, this was a nice change of pace. I really enjoyed the relatable main character, and the book delivers a great message about self-care and navigating new life changes.

I wish the book would have been slightly longer near the end. It loses a bit of steam near the ending. Although I wasn't too big of a fan of the conflict in the later half of the book, I still think this is a relatively people-pleasing sort of book. I personally liked the friendships Fran held with other characters as opposed to the romance. If you're looking for a book that's main character heavy, give this one a try!

Lindsey Kelk has done it again! On a Night Like This is an enchanting read! Fran is a personal assistant who thrives on making everyone’s lives easier - but does it make hers easier? When she gets the opportunity of a lifetime, to be the PA to the very famous Juliette, she takes it & it sets her on a course to find out more of who she is, what she wants & also adds a little magic back into her life. I adored this book, not only for the swoony Evan, but for her relationship with Juliette & her other friends. If you’re looking for a book that takes you on an adventure & helps you find what you really want in life, pick this one up! You’ll enjoy every funny, charming moment!

Will be reviewing this one as it gets closer to release day on my Instagram at @oh.how.novel

I’ll start by saying I am an absolutely huge Lindsey Kelk fan. I’ve read all of her novels, and On a Night Like This will leave you feeling fairytales are absolutely possible.

OaNLT is the perfect fall read - when you are snuggled in front of a fireplace and you have hours to get lost in a story which will have you laughing, and rooting for Fran who is down on her luck and gets a dream job for 5 days being a PA to a rockstar, nonetheless.

What follows is a tale of friendship, self-discovery, and a bit of romance that will leave readers so happy they opened this book..

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an advanced copy, in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts are my own.

I have to say that this was the best book I have read in a long time. It was just what I needed when I didn’t even know I needed it. It was just the right amount of glamour, humor, romance and comedy.
Fran is such a relatable character that you just instantly want to root for her right from the start. She’s dependable and the rock that keeps other people organized and going. I’m a moment of rarity, she does something for herself and takes a job for a mysterious celebrity as their assistant. What follows with her and Juliette was such an interesting relationship that at the end of the book, I real my wish there has been a sequel to shed light on their ongoing friendship.
Then… enter Evan. Even in black and white text, he is perfection. I felt none of the frustration that I sometimes feel with male book characters and their lack of emotional display. He laid his cards all on the table from the minute he spots Fran at the Crystal Ball and from there it’s a delicious whirlwind of romantic chemistry.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun, fast and highly satisfying read about overcoming obstacles and finding one’s own path- mixed with a good old fashion, idea romance.

The Cinderella story vibe was here from the beginning.

Ok things I loved: female characters were unforgivably bad ass. Fran was a hot mess in the best way. Evan was literally Prince Charming. It was funny. I gasped and dear god I wanted them to kiss so bad. The story was more about Fran finding herself rather than finding love. It was romcom esque BUT tried to be more realistic about really life. You can relationship jump, starting with infidelity is not a foundation, friendships (female especially) MATTER, family is important but it can be what you make not blood, and women are not defined by the men they love. So thank you Lindsey Kelk for letting me know my own worth as woman. <3

Okay now why it was 3.5/5 for me. I didn’t know this wasn’t going to be as romantic as I wanted going in. I’m not docking for that reason per say, but I do love romance in these books that are not alway realistic. I wanted so much more of the characters together! And I’m not even going to lie I wanted more spice which is entirely my own fault for not looking into.

Upon further decision this stays at 4/5 because it was exactly what it was supposed to be.

Thank you netgalley for this free arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and Harpercollins360 for the eARC, I was really excited to read this one but it was just not a book I enjoyed. I read this whole book in a single night, but I have a lot of feelings about it. Honestly, I felt like the plot was so boring with poor execution and Fran was really unlikable. I've never been in a toxic relationship so I could never relate with Fran and Stew's awful behavior was never her fault, but there were so many red flags that she turned a blind eye to. She had no backbone and never prioritized her wants and needs and it just made me really sad for her. And she blamed herself for his infidelity? Honey, no (should be a trigger warning for gaslighting). Secondly, it took way longer than necessary for Fran to just get to the Crystal Ball. Before that was just so much unnecessary character drama that didn't add much to the story. The ball was just as disappointing and the only good part was the fluffy little dance scene. Fran only wakes up about her awful relationship when another lady at the ball goes through something similar. Like are you serious? I think the scene of her leaving Stew was anticlimactic and should have been way more dramatic. That was a major let down. I liked Evan's grand gesture and so glad Fran choose to be in a happy and healthy relationship in the end. I could see the Cinderella aspects in this book, but I wanted so much more out of it.

A competently written book that crammed one too many pop-culture references in for me. A solid 4.5 for enjoyable, polished writing, though!

This was such a heartwarming book. Fran felt like a Cinderella character. Although sometimes she made me roll her eyes with her words and actions. Stew is garbage. Evan was a bright light and I wish he was involved more. Jess was also really fun. It was such a nice relaxing book after reading a heavy book.

This was such a great read! I would have been happy even without the romance. If the book were just about Fran and Juliette becoming friends. The writing was flawless and the characters were lovely. The romance was just the icing on the cake here. A highly recommended read. I couldn’t put it down!

On A Night Like This is a modern day fairy tale! Fran takes on a job as a personal assistant to a famous client. she doesn't know much beyond what the NDA tells her and she soon finds herself working for(?) with(?) around(?) one of the most famous stars in the world. It goes over like a lead ballon.
Before quitting her job and solidifying her feelings that fame and fortune aren't all they're cracked up to be, Fran indulges in a final act of rebellion: she crashes the Crystal Ball.

Evan is on the invite list for the exclusive and high-brow Crystal Ball... Fran is not. However they meet and sparks fly. Fran begins to see that while her life doesn't need all the bells and whistles that a lavish lifestyle can offer, she does realize that her life is missing that certain "spark." She's spent years of her life caring for others at her own expense. And she decides it's time to change.

Kelk's signature banter and hilarious one-liners are a great addition to the story of Fran. I am so glad that it wasn't a "love-at-first-sight-immediate-happily-ever-after" kind of story. Was there romance? Of course. But there was also the lovely experience of watching Fran come into her own. She worked hard to put her life to rights before taking on a partnership with anyone else. It was so nice to see her find her strengths and utilize them - a true lesson for us all! And the slow burn romance didn't hurt ;)

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper 360, HaperCollins for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

On a Night Like This is a charming romance from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite romances that I have read this year!

Fran is a young woman at a crossroads. She is engaged to a man that she isn't sure she even truly loves anymore and is trying to decide her career path. She gets a push when she gets an interview to become a PA for a famous celebrity. One week is all she will need to get the job done and change her life!

On her first day, she boards a yacht and meets her boss. The infamous Juliette. She is a pop star that everyone talks about. Other members of the staff warn her about Juliette but she is a good judge of character and wants to treat her like a normal person. They get along very well...and the many drinks help too. They are open about their lives and really seem to connect. This looks like it will turn out to be a great experience for both ladies. But that changes when Juliette acts so rude towards Fran. What happened that made her act this way? Fran doesn't have time to deal with her feelings because she is tasked with leaving the yacht to retrieve a must-have item for the pop princess. She almost completes the task without a hitch but she ends up getting stuck in Italy. It isn't all bad because she meets an American man in a convenience store. They don't speak much but they have magnetic chemistry. Oh well, it's not like she will ever see him again.

When she finally makes it to a lavish hotel, this is where the fairytale starts to begin. Juliette hasn't arrived for the Crystal Ball and it doesn't look like she ever will. So, Juliette's makeup artist decides to let Fran have fun. For one night, Fran will be the princess at the ball. Her makeup is done, she is wearing a ball gown, now she just has to sneak in. With the help of her new friend, she makes it in. She is amazed at all the glitz and glamour but also knows that she doesn't fit in with these people. She is about to leave early when she sees the man from the convenience store. It has to be fate stepping in.

Fran and Evan can't deny their attraction but Fran admits that she is engaged. I know that their relationship is more than complicated and I am so hoping that she realizes that she deserves better. So, I can't help but ship Fran and Evan. They agree to spend the night together at the ball agreeing to the no personal information rule. They just want to have fun and enjoy each other's company. I think readers will want more from the two and swoon every time they lean into each other or have a romantic conversation.

I seriously loved this book from beginning to end. Yes, I swooned at the fairytale theme and saw Fran live such a magical if only for one night. But there is also so much depth to these characters, in particular, Fran. She has been in a relationship for over 10 years and he has really done a number on her. His past cheating ways not only made her question herself but it lowered her confidence and self-esteem. I know I enjoyed her character development throughout the story.

I give On a Night Like This 5 stars. It's a fairytale-like romance that is cute and romantic and yet so down to earth with the reliability of the main character. Evan will make all the readers swoon at his genuine nature with Fran and charm you with his wit and humor. This may have been my first time reading Lindsey Kelk but I guarantee you it won't be my last!

This book was adorable!

Fran Cooper is feeling stuck in her life. When offered a job as a famous singer's PA to accompany her to the Crystal Ball, Fran takes a chance to try to figure out where she wants to go in her life. While things don't go as planned, Fran meets Evan at the Crystal Ball, where sparks fly. The two of them agree on a single magical night, no personal information shared. But what happens when the night ends and you want your fairytale?

The descriptions in this book are where Kelk really shines - from the Yacht to Fran's ballgowns to the Crystal Ball, I was transported into this glitzy world of the ultra-rich. I loved reading about all the insane activities to do at the Crystal Ball (very much reminiscent of the Met Gala).

I really loved how Evan and Juliette's respective characters were handled. Evan is your classic love interest prince-like character, but he has the nuance to not be flat. I really loved Juliette's character arc and how she wasn't just the diva that everyone expected her to be. Fran's own growth throughout the book was slow but I appreciated the steps that she took in her personal life after her experience in this book.

This book doesn't read like a standard romance, and you can see that from the pacing - you don't actually have the Crystal Ball until around the 50% mark, and then this one night is 30% of the book. I actually enjoyed the antics of the first half of the book with Fran trying to keep up with Juliette, and there's something to be said about developing a friendship in a book as well.

Unfortunately, what falls flat for me is how the romance gets handled post-Crystal Ball. We get a lot of Cinderella parallels up to this point, and then it felt a bit too grounded in reality afterward. When there were a few Hallmark movie style romantic gestures from Evan, it felt exactly if someone tried to do these gestures in real life rather than what you'd expect in a romance that spent a decent amount of time trying to portray an immediate "sparks fly" connection between these two characters. There's nothing wrong with a dose of realism, but in a book that tries to sell the romantic fairytale, it felt like it couldn't fully commit to the fantasy, and that was a bit disappointing.

Overall, I still really enjoyed this book, a solid four stars.

Thank you to Harper 360, HarperCollins, and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book is sweetest cure for my anxious mind! After getting through stressful work days, I was needing something hilarious, smart, entertaining, relaxing! And guess what? Literature gods heard my crying and threw this book on my head! Okay as always I just exaggerated: I wished to read something sweet-soft-sentimental to heal my soul. I saw Lindsey Kelk’s name without reading blurb and instead of Literature gods, dearest Publishing company made my wish come true. I got my copy and started my reading journey ASAP!

Firstly: Cinderella theme mixed with powerful self growth, second chances and friendship themes are inspirationally executed.

The writing style was capturing and enjoyable. You easily get into the story and I honestly loved Fran so much! She’s ideal book-let’s hang out- drink Chardonnay and chat about our exes kind of adorable character. She’s genuine, smart, natural and caring. Just because of her love to other people make her accept less from the life. But it was pleasure to see her personal growth and change. I loved to read her amazing journey!

The other supporting characters Jess,Sarah and Juliette were also well developed. And it was wonderful to see Rachel’s cameo as well.

Even though the cover and the blurb’s definition made us think this is a romance book, it’s more a chic lit, women’s fiction. The story isn’t centered on romance.

I hated the guts of Fran’s douchebag fiancée Stew and I wished she would get rid of him sooner. It took a little more time to be introduced to Prince Charming Evan. We gotta wait till the second half. But it was pleasure to see Fran finally understood she deserved better! And Evan was hundred percent better than Stew who sounds like worst eating choice! Evan was sweet, nice, gentle, caring, a true definition of ideal book boyfriend!

Overall: I loved this book! I normally give four stars to lovely, light, sweet romcoms but the characterization was amazing and Cinderella vibes were perfectly executed so I’m adding additional half star: 4.5 to round up 5 I laughed out loud till I cry, I had great time stars!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Harper 360 for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Quickly becoming a fan favorite author, Lindsey Kelk writes another fun romantic comedy with On A Night Like This. Who hasn't felt like everything in their life is going wrong and a change is needed?!? In this case it was Fran. I felt Fran to be such a relatable character and I wanted to trade spots with her. When being offered an opportunity of a new job, with a mysterious boss, in a new location for 5 days, Fran decided to take this chance. She ended up on a yacht with a uber famous boss and non-discloser agreement signed. From there the Cinderellaesqe story happens. I highly recommend this read to make you know anything in life could happen if you take a chance.

What to do when you’re down on your luck, you are pretty sure your finance is cheating on you and you’re desperate for a job? You say yes to the once in a lifetime possibility of being an assistant to a top-secret client that requires you to be whisked out of town for five full days. This is how Fran Cooper winds up on a yacht in Italy with a world famous singer and an iron-clad non-disclosure agreement. Trying not to smudge the lines between professionalism and friendship, Fran has to take a crash course in what it really means to do her job well. Things definitely do not go as planned and Fran is the lone lady at the Crystal Ball, an enchanted party-of-the-year that she has to be smuggled into. On a Night Like This follows Fran throughout the evening, when she meets a handsome stranger, Evan, that begs to show her around and promises not to put pressure on her for anything more than one night of friendly fun. Fran not only witness an entirely different world filled with glitter, caviar, carnival games and more money than she can imagine, but she starts to realize that the life she’s created for herself might be due more to her fears than her desires. Author Lindsey Kelt let us ask the question, can one night really change your life? Fran was a delight and On a Night Like This brought so much joy while reading. I can’t recommend this sweet novel enough!

A sincere thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley & Harper360 for the advance copy of A Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk! The release date is January 18th 2022.

I finished reading this last night. I enjoyed the story. If you prefer to read a romance that is more about the heroines journey than just the romance itself, this book has a pretty good balance. Its very much a story about finding yourself and about falling in love. It’s also a pretty clean romance. Zero spice will be found here. I really liked Fran! She was really relatable and following her as she learns to put her own happiness first in her life was nice.
This is definitely like a Cinderella story. It involves a makeup artist as the fairy godmother, a sparkly blue dress, a charity ball, and a handsome stranger who is immediately enamored with her. She’s out of place at the ball, an assistant from a small town surrounded by rich people at an extravagant charity ball. Very much Cinderella vibes. I appreciated that the romance took time and Fran took time to move on with her life before she moved on with Evan.
Anyway, I liked it but I didn’t love it. It was a good book and a sweet romance. I would recommend it if you need a nice warm pick me up book!

I absolutely ADORED this book. I'm a sucker for pop culture references so this was right up my alley. A Met Gala parody event with constant name drops is my dream. And I loved every single character in this novel(except for Stew but I feel like that's a given). I love the dynamic between Juliette and Fran, as well as all the grandiose aspects of the Crystal Ball. Such a fun and swoon-worthy read.
