One look at the cover and I was drawn down the path to immerse myself in the trees. I had the privilege of reviewing a truncated version and I was wishing for the whole book. The images were stunning. The story of Pando was there with fascinating facts about the history and future of the great Aspen. Some of the features mentioned in the description, like the sciences were not really explored in the short version, but it stirred the desire for more and I look forward to reveling in the full version when available. I received a complimentary advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.

The breathtaking photos in this short preview left me wanting more. I can't wait for this book to be released so that I can keep learning about forests. I am looking forward to learning more about Pando and also how our personal lives influence the lives of trees.

In such a short preview it is hard to get a feel for the tone of the book (seemed like scientific mysticism?), but the photographs of trees and forests were just gorgeous.

Thank you for the sample NetGalley. If the rest of this book is like the sample you will want to pick this up immediately, well, when it comes out. Absolutely stunning photography and interesting text to go flawlessly along side. Perfect for a coffee table book but must be on display!

I haven't realize this was a sample of the book. My bad, still it was very promising for the actual book. National Geographic photography quality is always the best there is out there. Magnificent!! I will try to look for ti when it come out and see what the full book is worth, but again, very promising!

Into the Forest: The Secret Language of Trees by Susan Tyler Hitchcock is a coffee-table photobook by National Geographic that includes stunning photos and essays about trees. Some of the essays included in the excerpt I was sent include "The Tree of Life," "History in Tree Rings," and "Famous Trees." According to the synopsis, this book "combines legendary photography with cutting-edge science to illuminate exactly how trees influence the life of planet Earth—from our personal lives to the weather cycle."

Overall, Into the Forest: The Secret Language of Trees is a photo-book that will appeal to nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. One highlight of this book are the stunning photos of trees that are sometimes one-page or two-page spreads. They are beautiful and worth the price of the book alone. I can see this book being the perfect gift for the nature-lover in your life. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of books about nature, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in April!
