Okay... I read a lot of organization books but this one was damn good! I have been recommending this book to friends all year and bought a physical copy so I can keep referring back to it.

I love reading organizing and decluttering books. They are many on the market, but this one stands out. Only 5 minutes of your day. A few daily tasks. Not taking everything out of the drawer. It 's a stress free, worry free way to get rid of things. The cover is lovely as are the pictures. The text is simple and concise and the examples are great.

This is good information but having read her blog for years and listening to her podcast, I didn't discover anything really new. However, I would highly recommend this to anyone as an introduction to the author and her methods. Dana White gives great information for those that cleaning does not come naturally for. There are foundational steps to decluttering and tips to stay that way so you do not get overwhelmed.

Towards the end,the author says, "My goal for each strategy in this book is to make it easier for you to live in your home." That is exactly how I felt about reading all of her advice - everything in here made sense, and it was broken down into the smallest parts to then build on. She mentioned more than once that even five minutes can make a difference, and that change will build.
I really enjoyed this quick read and her methods to declutter when overwhelmed. I'm going to put some of her strategies to work in my own house.

Great resource for finally taking control of all your clutter. I liked how the author broke things down in bite sized pieces - no need to declutter everything in one day! Put some of the suggestions into practice and feeling a lot less overwhelmed with trying to get a handle of excess stuff. Recommend this one for anyone who is looking for a more permanent solution to having the mindset needed when decluttering. .

This is a great continuation of 'Decluttering at the speed of life" and provides ample strategies for what to do once you have purged and are on the board with maintenance. As a pocket size book this would fit easily into any bag, car, or cleaning caddie to provide inspiration on the go. White has set this book up as a quick reference for those everyday challenges we all run into, like dirty dishes, and a friendly reminder for the oft forgotten tasks like dusting the hard to reach places. If you are looking for inspiration or need a helping hand this is a great resource to start. Happy reading!

Dana K. White, popular YouTuber, author, and podcaster returns with another book that is practical, with photos that clearly illustrate the steps she gives the reader to improve their homes and spaces. A solid selection for libraries with a demand for self-help and organizational books.

I love this book because it's down to earth and doesn't give you ridiculous goals for organizing your house. I will definitely be using a lot of these techniques and buying this book for future reference!

Humorous, practical and very helpful! Several things made more sense to me than other books read on this subject. The container rule is genius and the four daily tasks are manageable. Maybe there’s hope for me yet!

While this book didn't feel as polished as some of the other cleaning books out there, it is full of real-life tips that work! I immediately started using Dana White's advice on separating "Cleaning" and "daily tasks" and it changed the way I feel about cleaning. I get my daily tasks out of the way and then think about doing actual cleaning. Also, 2 minutes in each bathroom a day is so attainable and helped me so much.

4 stars

An easy read on how to organize and declutter by Dana K. White. Simple steps to help organize and help with decluttering.

As someone who avidly uses organization and decluttering as a method of lowering stress and anxiety, I didn't find any useful information in this book. Apparently, I am not the target audience. However, I think for most people, the ideas can be boiled down to basic tenants. The less clutter you have, the less you have to clean and pick up. If you take a few seconds to do things in real time, you won't later be spending hours of your time. These are rather basic ideas and ones which have been cited many times before. Overall, I don't see anything new in this book. Hopefully it will help someone who needs to be reminded of the basics.

Organizing for the Rest of Us was an enjoyable, quick read. I thought that it provided simple but logical ideas and tips for decluttering and organizing. I loved the concept of thinking of everything (including your actual home) as a "container" and limiting what you have based on the size of the containers you have for those items. I also loved the idea of not having a "keep" box when decluttering, but rather just putting things where they belong if you are choosing to keep them. Otherwise that "keep" box allows you to continue hanging on to stuff without making a decision in the moment.

This book definitely motivated me to start organizing and decluttering. I found myself decluttering this evening and putting some of Dana's tips to use already. While reading, I definitely had a few "light bulb" moments that will definitely change the way I accumulate stuff and organize the stuff that I already have.

I felt that the author's advice was very practical and easy for anyone to apply. She even gave tips that would allow the reader to save money while also reducing clutter or organizing what they have. She also had some entertaining terms for certain processes. The book was light and entertaining while providing useful information.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for some good organizing tips that won't be earth-shattering, but will be very helpful and practical to apply to your spaces.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Organizing for the Rest of Us: 100 Realistic Strategies to Keep Any House Under Control by Dana K. White is such a great resource for anyone trying to manage a home of any size. I found this book incredibly interesting and well written. So many home management books are exhausting to read or full of the reasons why you should organize without the how. I loved this book because the author does not waste the reader's time unnecessarily. You can pick this book up and immediately find things that are useful. So much that can be gleaned from this book and I know I'll circle back to it again soon. Great resource! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I must confess that I have several several of White’s other books. I love them all. Like her other books, this one is chockfull of great ideas. She provides specific strategies for dealing with an overstuffed house and an overfilled schedule. The author is very realistic about how difficult it can be to organize when the situation has already become overwhelming, and her focus on ‘better’ rather than ‘perfect’ is very motivating. As other reviewers have noted, some of the information in this text is similar to that in her other books. But the information is organized in a different way, which makes it fresh — and if you have an extremely messy life, hearing the same good information in a new way can be very helpful. I recommend all of Dana Whites book’s, including this one. This review is based on an uncorrected proof NetGalley ARC.

This book is a pretty easy read. Each of the 100 strategies are only couple of pages and White doesn't expect you to incorporate all of them. Each chapter isn't heavy with many anecdotes or extra filler, which I appreciate. And I enjoyed White's voice throughout, she seems like a really funny person.
