Wow! What a great thriller! This reminded me so much of Desperate Housewives. I loved all the point of views and all the secrets. This group of women were very backstabbing and full of jealously!

A twisty, entertaining contemporary women's fiction book. It was refreshing to read a book that embraced gossip and mess without trying to insert some sort of moral commentary about it. Rich mess is the best mess. Overall, a good read and would reccomend it.

Another fantastic suspense from this author and definitely one that reminds you that people are not always as they seem. I loved how the author framed this story around those so wealthy they think they are above the law. I also enjoyed the dynamics of the housewives and how these women loved and hated so deeply. So many twists, I kept changing my mind about what happened. Definitely a great summer read!

AHHHH this was sooooo good

I love like small town dramas where everyone is in everyone else’s business. Adding the rich wives with possibly bad husbands is just the icing on the cake. I listened to the audiobook and my goodness it was so good!! I have been having a really hard time finding books that i’m OMGing at, but this one made me believe i can reach that all time high of loving a (thriller) book again.

I really enjoyed this book. I requested this book because I saw a lot of my friends talking about this. I am so happy I requested it because I really enjoyed this book. I did not want to put this one down so I read it kind of slow. If you want to read a good thriller I highly suggest this one. I loved this one I highly suggest.

I received both the audiobook and an advanced reader copy; and honestly, the audiobook was EVERYTHING! I did go back and forth between the book and audiobook quite a bit, but found myself wanting to go back to chapters I read to listen to the audio version. It is a full cast, and they were phenomenal. You felt like you were front and center for all of the chaos, lies, scandals, and affairs.

This book truly has some of the scummiest and cringiest elitist characters that you love to hate. The book doesn’t get into the whodunnit and what they did until the end, but the book is so fast paced with the setup that you don’t even notice. The twists come at the end and were delivered effortlessly. If you’re a fan of ABC’s Revenge and Desperate Housewives- this may be right up your alley.

A bunch of women in an exclusive salon gossiping? What could possibly go wrong? I love a good Real Housewives style book and was so excited to read Rose's latest after loving The Perfect Marriage and The Girl I Was.

This book kept me guessing the entire time! I had no idea how it was going to end, which I always like. The ending was even more complex than I anticipated, which made it even better. I also was impressed with how well I thought some of the main characters developed throughout the book. I don't find that as common in many thrillers, so I was pleasantly surprised One of Us Was Dead contained both.

This book by Jeneva Rose was such a fun thriller with lots of twists and turns. It sort of gave me a Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies vibe. The chapters are told from the POV of multiple characters and go between the past and present timelines. I loved how you got to see the story unfold from the viewpoint of the different women. The story sees Olivia acting as mean girl ‘queen bee’ of Buckhead and trying to get to know Crystal ‘the new girl’. All the housewives meet up for gossip sessions and pampering at Glow, the salon in town owned by Jenny. As you dive deeper into the characters and the story, lots of secrets and twists and turns emerge. This thriller was such a fun, fast-paced popcorn read and I feel that anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers will find this one addictive.

One of Us is Dead is a MUST READ!! I could not put this book down!! It kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end with all the lies and secrets. The story was so well written I felt like I was a character inside the story myself. I loved the way this mystery unfolds and tells the tale from different characters point of views which made it relatable and enjoyable to read!! Great job Jeneva!!

More and more of these fun female-focused murder mysteries have made it onto my TBR pile and I have no regrets! This one took the female cliches a little further in the best way, focused on the ladies of Buckhead. From the regulars at Glow, the salon where you have to be someone to remain on their exclusive list to the newbies in town, to the owner herself, this circle of drama-filled characters certainly knows how to keep the story moving. Full of secrets and betrayal, and fights to be the queen bee, this story is full of drama and betrayal and I LOVED it.

Rose wrote this multi-POV so beautifully, I loved how we got to see the story from so many different viewpoints, how the feelings of each character said so much about their personalities and what they were willing to do to protect themselves, and their husbands, their role in the community. With so much going on at once, and so many people having a hand at the happenings in Buckhead, it could have been hard to get lost but by switching characters often it kept the pacing of this murder mystery moving and so intriguing.

"She was a forgive-and-forget kind of person. I, on the other hand, always believed there was another option on the table. Forgive, forget, or fucking never let it go."

Twists and turns at every opportunity will make you keep guessing at this one, and with the switch from the past and present scenarios, you'll have fun guessing not only who was murdered, but by whom and HOW -- I certainly don't want to spoil the fun but I was a big fan of how it all worked out in the end and hope you enjoy it as well!

One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose

Brief Summary: Wow-welcome to Buckhead the drama capitol! The drama centers around 4 women; Jenny, Cristal, Shannon, and Olivia. Shannon is divorced by her politician husband in favor of young Cristal. The novel depicts how the group handles this in dramatic fashion until one of them is dead. Told in alternating segments before and after the crime; I kept the pages turning! I absolutely loved the author’s last book; The Perfect Marriage and was so excited to read this one!

Highlights: This book is the perfect summer beach read and mindless escape that made me thankful for the lack of interpersonal drama in my life. At times, there was so much drama I had a hard time keeping it straight! I also appreciated the diversity brought into the mix. I didn’t see the big twist coming and really enjoyed learning how the crime was pulled off. This would be great on screen!

Explanation of Rating: 4/5 – pack this one for your trip or beach/pool bag

[Thank you to Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for my gifted e-ARC and audiobook copies of this book, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions reflected are my own]

If you are like me, you'll abandon your entire TBR for an audiobook with a full cast of narrators, and this audiobook IS IT. You're welcome, and I'm sorry.

SYNOPSIS:
Five women of Buckhead live the life of ease, luxury, and all things - MONEY. Their lives overlap in one place on a regular basis, Glow, the salon to the town's elite. Jenny, the salon owner, is the town's confidant, learning their secrets, both dirty and fun. The drama is reality tv level, until one of them ends up dead.

NOTES:
- Multiple narrators, can feel complicated while reading (I felt the urge to take notes, until I started the audiobook instead)
- Instagrammable Cover
- Author is hilarious on social media, watch her TikToks

RATING:
5/5 Stars
I do think if I had read this one, instead of listened to it, my rating would be slightly different. The cast of narrators really added so much to the story, and made this one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I have listened to.

One of Us is Dead: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jeneva Rose coming in with another solid book! I'm a huge fan of hers and if you don't follow her on Instagram, go do it now! One of Us is Dead was the @thereadroversbookclub pick for May! I thought the book was a solid mystery/thriller with drama and rich society cattiness. It had some Real Housewives vibes and made me think of The Hunting Wives by May Cobb. I really enjoy books that have unlikeable characters but you can't stop reading because you have to find out what happens to them. This book pulls you in because you don't know who is dead so you've got to try to figure it out while also listening for clues as to who did it. The story is told in multiple perspectives (also a favorite element of mine) and jumps from past to present where a police interview is occurring. Overall, I loved this book and will read anything Jeneva writes.

I read this book this month for the Read Rovers Book Club. You can find them on Instagram. Lauren is awesome.

What I loved about this book:

This book kept me guessing until the end. You will be wondering the whole time who died and who did it. Right away the drama drags you into the story and the lives of these characters. Some of the characters you will love and others you will hate.

I normally hate drama but this book definitely kept me entertained and I freaking hate hate hate Olivia.

3.5 stars. This was a fun read packed with witty dialogue, snarkiness, characters you despised, characters you rooted for, betrayal, greed, a little of everything. The only thing missing for me was the level of wickedness. I felt this would have been amazing if the cattyness and backstabbing had been a little more aggressive and over the top.

this was a great thriller, and the cover is awesome. it'll be an easy sell. I love female friendship, but also some crazy female competition and horror tales.

I had way too much fun reading One of Us is dead. I used to be OBSESSED with Real Housewives and this book reminded me of it soo much. Rich women because of their husband's with nothing but time on their hands. TIME TO GOSSIP THAT IS! All these women were toxic with a capital T but that's what made it so much fun! Who was murdered? Who was the killer? I absolutely loved how this story was told. It literally kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time because I had no idea who it was going to be. Honestly, it could have been any of them. These women were seriously beyond spoiled, and expected everything to be handed to them. It wasn't until certain things started going south that some of these ladies got the reality checks that they needed. I don't want to say too much and give anything away but this is definitely a read you don't want to miss out on!!

One of Us Is Dead had those Real Housewives vibes - catty women, money, secrets, drama. I loved how right off the bat we know that someone has been murdered, but we don't know who. From there, the story gives us the inner workings of quite the cast of characters with a grand finale of revealing who didn't make it out alive. And just when you thought you had it all figured out, there are some twists thrown in to keep you on your toes. One of Us Is Dead was a bingeable and entertaining read!

Meet Buckhead, the town where housewives behave at their worst and murder is the special of the day.

The group of women included:

Olivia: she is egocentric and will do anything to be on top. She has waited years to help destroyed Shannon now that she is down on her luck.

Shannon: once the most powerful woman in town, married to Bryce, the rich politician until her marriage falls apart and he leaves her for a younger woman whom he marries.

Crystal: a young woman from Texas and now the wife of Bryce.

Karen: a very successful real state agent. She is married to a successful plastic surgeon and has a small child.

Jenny: the owner of Glow. The IT beauty salon. The place where these women backstab each other, drink champagne and tell their secrets intend it or not.

I had so much fun listening/reading this one. The women were catty, spoiled, and plastic but entertaining nonetheless. The audio narrators Andi Arndt, Hillary Huber, Elizabeth Evans, Brittany Pressley, and Cassandra Campbell did a wonderful job at fleshing out these women for me. I will say Jenny was my favorite since she was the most down-to-earth person in the group. I did root for almost all of them through the book.

After finishing listening to this guilty pleasure, I know I will read Jeneva Rose's next book.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

Buckhead is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the country. A group of women are members of an exclusive salon, Glow. Jenny is the owner of Glow and she has sunk her entire life into making the salon successful. She has created a salon where the women all congregate as they prepare for the biggest events in their lives. Shannon is the Queen Bee - until she and her husband divorce. And then her glamourous life is reduced to a rented apartment and being left out of invites. Crystal is the new wife and just wants to be liked, but the excessive wealth makes her uncomfortable. Olivia has been waiting to take Shannon's place as Queen Bee and she will stop at nothing to wear the crown. Karen is happy to be a follower, but lately she has been listless and unfulfilled. One of these women is dead. But who killed her and are the others in danger, too?

One Of Us Is Dead was so good! As the reader, it took me a while to get into the book. Readers don't know who is dead until nearly the end of the book. The book goes back and forth with the timeline. The present, with someone being interviewed by the police, and the past as the events leading to the death are unfolding. I had a hard time getting into the story, because all I could think of for the first few chapters was that these women are just horrible human beings. And I wasn't entirely wrong, but not everybody is as they appear. - CLICK HERE FOR SPOILERS.

Bottom Line - One of Us Is Dead had so many twists and turns, I didn't know what was going to happen next. And those are really the best kind of books!
