📚SUMMARY: Opulence. Sex. Betrayal. Sometimes friendship can be deadly. Meet the women of Buckhead -- a place of expensive cars, huge houses, and competitive friendships.

Who amongst these women will be clever enough to survive Buckhead -- and who will wind up dead? They say that friendships can be complex, but no one said it could ever be this deadly.

❤️REVIEW: Okay think true crime meets desperate housewives and you’ve nailed it. This book was SO bingeable I legit could not put it down! I loved the multiple POVs and getting to hear everyone’s story! I genuinely hated some of the characters and HOLY TWISTS! I’ve been in a Real Housewives vortex for the last few months and this fit fantastically. @jenevaroseauthor has done it again! At this point though, I’d read her grocery lists 🥳💃🏼

Jenny owns Glow, the salon for anyone who is anyone in the high end town of Buckhead. Glow is the hot spot to be for the women of Buckhead, and being a member there is not easy to come by. For Olivia and her close-knit friend group, Glow is their place to be and Jenny knows all of the scandalous drama that happens in these women’s lives. Things start to bubble toward disaster when Shannon’s husband leaves her for a younger woman, Crystal. Crystal is soon thrust into the drama and handed a membership at Glow. In with the new and out with the old, Olivia takes advantage of this to take over leading the group and turning everyone against Shannon. But Shannon is not the type to walk away kindly, and the town of Buckhead is in for some deadly consequences.

Holy Drama! This book is packed with scandal and deception. For the fans of Desperate Housewives, this book is sure to entertain! The added devilish and deadly turn at the end really shows just how determined some people are to ruin others’ lives, or taking them.

I thought the character development was superb. Switching between the various women's perspectives allowed for a reader to get into the minds of the characters. It also made me loathe them and love them, well some of them. I felt there was a strong understanding of who each woman was and as the story flowed along I was eager to see just how each woman’s life would play out in the end.

I definitely raced through this book to see how it would come together in the end, each chapter left me wondering who was killed and who did it a little bit more. I did think the drama got a bit long winded and for me, I would have liked to see some of the action revealed earlier than it did. The ending did leave me feeling a bit better about the slow burn though! I am looking forward to reading more from Jeneva Rose in the future!

The first half of this domestic suspense was rather boring, with unlikeable characters that I wasn't interested in. I almost gave up a couple times, but the desire to know who gets murdered kept me reading and thankfully, the momentum picked up in the second half and delivered the drama in a more interesting way. The ending was a little rushed but I enjoyed the outcome, however unrealistic it was.

Thank you NetGalley, Blackstone Publishing, and Jeneva Rose for an advanced copy of One Of Us Is Dead in exchange for my honest review.

The women of Buckhead are a prestigious and catty bunch. There's Shannon, former Queen Bee, recently dumped by her husband who has remarried a much younger woman named Crystal. Crystal hails from Texas, and the sweet southern belle has no idea what she's in for. Olivia, everyone's favorite manipulator, is relishing Shannon's fall from grace, as she believes herself to be the one true Queen of Buckhead. Jenny owns Glow, the salon where everyone who's anyone goes, and she hears all their dirty little secrets. One of them will wind up dead. But who?

It's Real Housewives... with murder! I really enjoyed this fast-paced story filled with lies, deceit, and bitchiness. It was fairly predictable but that didn't take away from anything for me. What can I say? I am thoroughly entertained by petty, grown ass women. Especially when every single one of them gets their own POV chapters.

There was one final twist at the end that I definitely didn't anticipate and I loved it! Highly recommend to Housewives + Thriller lovers everywhere.

One Of Us Is Dead will be on bookshelves in the US April 26, 2022!

Think Real Housewives combined with a twist of CSI. The entire premise revolves around a group of so called friends that all have a lot of secrets best kept hidden. Add in jealousy, betrayal and people who will do anything to get what they want, regardless of who gets hurt in the process. One of them ends up dead and its not difficult to figure out who it will be. The story is interesting enough that you do want to keep reading to figure out who did it, mostly because there are sooo many possibilities.

However, I will say the big reveal is a little farfetched. Since I don't want to give away the ending, I will just say that type of plan will certainly go awry one day if anyone gets a guilty conscience. One thing I have noticed, is this author does seem to make investigators seem pretty incompetent in her books. Either they don't seem smart enough to really dig deep or they just some how miss any and all evidence, beyond which is planted anyway. This is the second book of hers where they just seem to buy the so called evidence and believe it, as if the killers are always so much smarter than the cops.

All in all, it is a good way to get lost in a book and escape day to day life.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Jeneva Rose has quickly become one of my favorite authors so I was really excited that she was coming out with a new book and I couldn't wait to get it into my hands. I didn't read the synopsis going into the book because I wanted to truly be surprised by everything that happened in the book. I did find the ending shocking and I couldn't put the book down, but I didn't love it as much as I wanted to. All of the characters are extremely unlikable with not many redeeming qualities. I think because we knew someone was dead from the start just not who made it interesting, but at times I was screaming in my head because I just wanted to know who it was so I could start piecing things together. The ending made it worth it, but the journey getting there just wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. I'll obviously keep reading all of her books, this one just didn't impress me as much as her previous books. Thank you so much Netgalley for allowing me to read this early!

What do you like in a guilty pleasure read? If it is a catty, dramatic, twisty popcorn thriller full of affairs, secrets, gossip, backstabbing, betrayal, and murder, then do I have a book for you! The wickedly entertaining One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose. Told in a multiple POV format, it centers around an exclusive upscale beauty salon frequented by some very wealthy women in Buckhead, Atlanta, Georgia. And "Buckhead wasn't a place you lived. It was a place you survived." Except, as you can tell from the title, not everyone survives. As the layers of this story are peeled back and the suspense builds, you get hit with some shocking twists and bad behavior. The dialogue is darkly funny, some of it vicious. These are glamourous, conniving, devious characters you will love to hate. Also woven in are moments of pointed social observations. I was quickly sucked in and could not put it down. It's a well-written and delicious, guilty pleasure of a read. This is a fun one I'll be telling everyone about. Thank you to Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.

One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose
gifted ARC from: netgalley, black stone pub

After the first chapter, I knew I was going to like this book. All I could think about was the show “Desperate Housewives.” Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies. This is your classic mean girl group with too much time, money, and gossip. So naturally, I loved it

Following the lives of multiple women, murder, sex, lies, money, and a hair salon. I feel Jevena Rose exposed us all and how our hair stylists know more about our lives than anyone else, but it’s true. This story was engaging, sneaky, ridiculous at times, slightly predictable but also SO enjoyable. Changing POVs made it go by quickly! I spent the entire book hooked on finding out who was dead! 5⭐️

Holy gossiping witches Batman. This book is pages and pages of catty rich bitches cutting each other down, sneaking around behind each other's backs and honestly just being horrible human beings. If you're a fan of Real Housewives, this is definitely the book for you.

There are a lot of characters here but Rose does a good job of instilling enough distinct personality into each that I rarely felt confused and was easily able to keep them all straight. The husbands are all kind of a similar version of a rich, white d-bag, so they were slightly more difficult to keep straight but since they are bit players anyway it didn't matter that much.

As always Rose is the queen of twists and I had no idea where this was going throughout the entire book. The end was actually my favorite part, where everything comes together like a heist movie and you get the individual perspective of each character. If you want the Ocean's Eleven version of Real Housewives with a side of murder, One of Us is Dead will be right up your alley.

The women of Buckhead are rich, pampered, and total bitches. Shannon is divorced from Bryce who is married to the young Crystal; Karen is married to a husband who cheats with the truly awful Olivia. Jenny owns Glow, the exclusive salon all the women must go to. It's a sign of popularity. Jenny only allows 25 clients at any one time.

The story focuses too much on Olivia--we know she is a bitch, and we don't care. Most of the other stories are fairly uninspiring.

Points on for a good ending. I didn't see it coming, and it was fun.

Firstly, a massive thank you to Jeneva Rose and Blackstone Publishing for providing an eARC of 'One of Us is Dead' in exchange for an honest review.

~ 4 Stars ~

Welcome to the rich and scandulous lives of five of Buckhead's elite.

Shannon - former queen bee of Buckhead, her life has well and truly done a 180. She's chaotic in the best way (for fictional purposes) for the first half of the book and honestly, added the comedic commentary and blurts of drunk comments we all need in five female character P.O.V.

Crystal - The new Shannon. A seemingly innocent, country gal with a hidden past and a kind heart. I was waiting for her to get chewed up and spat at all throughout the storyline and although she did bear the grunt of a few less than ladylike sprays, the ending of this story had me cheering on the Southern's brilliantly unexpected mind.

Olivia - Ms Kinktress herself has one goal in mind since Shannon's fall from the crown: become the Queen of Buckhead. Now that she's in the dance, you best be sure this rather-die-than-be-poor housewife will do anything to remain at the top. If you just so happen to be at the pointy end of her manipulation, fingers crossed you dodge the shots fired (or she dodges your husband).

Karen - By far my favourite. A true boss lady, holding her own. She was the most genuine (let's not be confused with role model) friend out of the Buckhead elite cohort. Her tanning sessions brought a level of spiciness that was needed in 'One of Us is Dead'. Not to mention, we stan a female character that calls out chavonistic husbands - regardless of their bank account digits.

Jenny - Owner of Glow, the most exclusive salon in town. She well and truly knows all her clients’ secrets and darkest desires - just as the synopsis reads. BOY! when I tell you I got tired just reading about how much this character works her ass off, I wanted to jump inside the pages and force her to take a holiday. Jenny works twice as hard at maintaining the friendship (and civility) between Olivia, Shannon, Karen and Crystal. You definitely want to read the ENTIRE book to find our is she ever spills the beans.

At times I found the pacing quite onerous and noticed myself drifting in and out of motivation to continue on. Jeneva Rose's writing style is easy to follow and I quite enjoyed (what I personally found to be) shorter chapters.

I think it is also worth noting that I usually do not enjoy multiple point of view changes - this had FIVE and I believe it was achieved exceptionally well. I cannot begin to imagine the level of difficulty undertaking that writing task would have been - and to be able to avoid spoiling the (jaw dropping) ending? Phenomenal. Jeneva Rose deserves a star for that alone.

So addicting!!

The Perfect Marriage was one of my favorite thrillers of 2021 so I was SO excited about One of Us Is Dead and this one did not disappoint!

I absolutely love Jeneva's writing. It's always fast-paced and addicting... the type of book you just can't put down! And I love how Jeneva's personality shines through (if you don't follow her on instagram - what are you even doing with your life?!).

Anyway - I read this one in two sittings. One of Us Is Dead is filled with rich and snobby characters that you will just LOVE to HATE! I highly recommend this entertaining read... especially if you love Big Little Lies... you know, lies, secrets, betrayals and murder!

Easy 5 stars!

Thank you for the opportunity to review!

Love the cover of this one and thought the Desperate Housewives and Real Housewives vibe could be a fun read! I enjoyed the sitcom and liked how this one seemed a little darker, as a fan of thrillers, this one caught my attention.

Really easy to read with good pace throughout, I liked the changing chapter POV's and found the story blended really well and was easy to follow and gripping throughout.

An easy 5 star with these characters and that plot twist!

What. A. Ride.

Jenny, a bouiji salon owner, has had it with her snobby/catty clientele. Unfortunately, she is stuck with them and their money to keep things running. So, she keeps track of all the drama and who’s who of Buckhead, one diva client at a time. When one of the elite members of the town winds up dead, the well-manicured fingers are pointing every which way, even at Jenny.

The feel of this book is a mix of Real Housewives, Sweet Magnolia’s, and Desperate Housewives.
It’s like when they blindfold and spin you before swinging at a piñata, in the best way.
You aren’t sure which way is up or down and you’re just fumbling through.

The only negatives would be it seemed a little long, and I wish some of the other characters had been fleshed out more. But I get it, there was a lot to cram in there.

The writing was great, there were multiple POV’s and time jumps, but it was handled so smoothly, that I was never confused as to who or when.

Most of the characters are awful, just like they were meant to be. I liked that they all had questionable morals at some point. No one was to be trusted.

AND THAT ENDING!

Would definitely recommend reading this, if you want a “behind the scenes” vibe of the ridiculously wealthy, with a good whodunnit rolled in.

Check it out, when it hits shelves, 4/26/22!
A big thanks to the Publisher & NetGalley for gifting me a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I went in blind and was not disappointed! This gave true desperate housewives vibes, with so much lying, back stabbing and dramaaa. Had some truly unlikable characters and some you couldn’t help but love, aka Keisha- I loved me some Keisha! The thriller aspect of this felt light, but I liked the little twists at the end and how it all played out. My only issue was the middle just felt a little long but besides that was a fun, enjoyable read!

I loved The Perfect Marriage and couldn’t wait for another twisty thriller from Jeneva Rose. Sadly I DNF’ed this book at the 50% mark. I found myself losing interest in the characters. I do think this is a book I would revisit on audio, I think that format would work better for me. Not sure if it was an arc thing, but I wish the chapters had headings for each lady, I found myself confused at times on who the focus was on.

Man Jeneva’s books just keep getting better and better!! This was amazing! I absolutely loved this book!!! I loved that we got so many POVs, as it made it easier to truly get to know each of these women. It would have been fun to get the POV of each of the husbands at least once! I enjoyed the twists and the lead up to the ending! I thought this mystery was executed perfectly!

I love Jeneva Rose and her writing style! This was such a great story that kept me guessing throughout. I loved that I was unable to predict the way this story was going. This definitely kept me enthralled throughout!
