SO GOOD! I loved this thriller - it was so good and I did not see the ending coming. This book captures the inside look at the social elite of Buckhead, Atlanta - and what people will do for status and money. Set in the context of their local - albeit exclusive - beauty salon - the women fight there way through life. Olivia is the token mean girl, Shannon is the scorned divorcee, Crystal is the new wife, Karen is the unhappy housewife, Jenny is the salon owner and Keisha is her second in command. Their husbands are even worse.

This book is great because you know someone is dead at the end, but you don't know who until the very final chapters. Great writing - loved this book so much and cannot wait to read more by Janeva Rose. Thanks so much for the early copy of the book!

I feel like I can basically summarize my review & this book into one simple sentence: bitches be cray. Reading this one made me feel like I was on the set of The Real Housewives (any season, any location), with a little Big Little Lies thrown in the mix.

Watching any of those shows where the woman are screaming at each other from start to end gives me intense anxiety, however, I can’t quite stop watching. It was the same thing reading this one. The cattiness & drama between the women was almost too much at times, but I also needed to keep reading. Olivia’s character made me want to flip a table like Teresa Giudice (IYKYK). The ending was definitely surprising, but also seemed a little rushed. All in all though, I blew through this one pretty quickly, needing to know who dun it. It was definitely an entertaining read! 3.5 ⭐️s (rounded to 4)

A huge thank you to Netgalley, Blackstone Publishing, & Jeneva Rose for this e-arc. Check out One of Us is Dead on its pub date 4/26/22!

Wealthy, spoiled, catty women of Buckhead, Georgia bring on the scandalous behavior! It’s like the Real Housewives but mixed with, ya know, a little murder. Buckhead is a game of survival and only the strongest come out on top. Glow Beauty Bar, the exclusive, members-only, full service spa/salon, is the backdrop for most of the champs-fueled 🥂 gossip.

It’s a dramatic, (sometimes) funny, addicting drama with characters that you’d love to hate. Olivia - My GAAAWD, she was vile. Told in multiple POV’s, each chapter leaving me gasping for more. We go through the events that led to the murder of one the women but the catch is, we don’t know who actually ends up dead, that is until the very end. I kinda saw it coming but not in the way I had predicted. I would’ve loved to see more about the murder plot but I was definitely satisfied with all the juicy betrayal and backstabbing.

If you loved Big Little Lies and Desperate Housewives, pick this one up and grab a glass (or bottle) of wine, some popcorn and prepare to binge! @JenevaRose knows how to do the damn thang when it comes to writing entertaining books; I’ll read anything she writes!

Jeneva Rose does it again with One of Us Is Dead! A murder happens in a small town, where everyone has a secret, and someone dies to keep secrets from being revealed. Cheating spouses, hidden pasts and love triangles galore, this book just kept me guessing until the very end!

I loved this! There was so much drama and I enjoyed it very much. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about rich people problems (I certainly do).

This ARC is was amazing 🍾 One of Us is Dead follows the drama of several rich housewives who all run in the same social circles and belong to the exclusive salon, GLOW. There are several perspectives but easy to separate them and keep the story straight. This felt so much like desperate housewives and I loved it! I was just expecting the usual drama but there is a big secret at the end! It was a page turner since you spend the majority of the book wondering who would be killed. Fun read with a satisfying ending! 🤩

I wanted to like this, I really did. Unfortunately, the writing style was not for me. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters, the dialogue felt stilted and unnatural, and everything seemed a little too forced. DNF at 27%.

I had the pleasure of reading this book early for blurbing purposes. Here's my official quote: Big Little Lies meets Real Housewives in this juicy thriller. With its vicious drama, characters you’ll love to hate, and witty commentary on wealth and power, One of Us Is Dead is a wickedly fun read from beginning to end.

✂️ One of Us is Dead ✂️
By Jeneva Rose
Publishing: April 2022

This was a total ‘bookstagram made me do it’ as I’ve never read this author and a friend said to pick it up and let the fun begin.

“In a town full of insecure women and arrogant men….”

Seriously quick read, but before I go further, do you watch any Real Housewives of ____? I haven’t but this book makes me think of all the clips and talk I hear about the reality show. With a murder of course.

This is a goodie to take to the beach with you as you flip those chapters fast. Each one is a difft POV from one of the characters and each will have you loving, hating and perhaps admiring them as they fight for what they believe is theirs.

It’s Gossipy, cunning, rich-catty women pushing overtop of each other to claim the superior crown jewel of most powerful in their circle.

This gave me Real Housewives vibes with all the catty, snooty, dramatic group of rich women this book revolves around and usually I’d be all for this since I love watching all the Real Housewives series but 3/4 of the book was nothing but that then the last 40 pages came the thriller & it was insane!🤯
What I did enjoy was the short chapters which made for a quick read! Also, multiple POV’s!👌🏼
Personally, I would’ve liked to see more thrill throughout the book instead of saving it for the end…

One of Us is Dead just didn't do it for me for a number of reasons. It was full of rich, catty women who only cared about themselves. I didn't care for any of the superficial characters, particularly Olivia. It was like one long petty cat fight. The ending didn't even save it for me. Would not recommend.

Okay. Well that ending was insane! I am going to be honest, I struggled with the first half of the book. The characters were annoying, catty, and obnoxious. Obviously, that is the point. But man. I really hated these characters. I wanted a bit more depth to them, maybe more background? I am not sure. BUT. Jeneva Rose knows how to write a horrible character. Looking at you Olivia. Some of the inner monologue become too much and seemed to be more of just random thoughts. BUT again. Things took a turn and I really loved the twist. The ending was incredible. I did love the short chapters and the dual timeline. Giving this a 3.5 (rounded to 4).

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I LOVED Jeneva's last book so I was so excited to get my hands on this one and it did not disappoint! It kept me guessing the whole time and every time I thought I had it figured out I was surprised again! The character development and story line were well developed and Jeneva Rose is officially an auto-buy author for me!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 stars

One of Us is Dead is another hugely entertaining, insane thriller by the author of The Perfect Marriage. It centers around a group of rich women in the affluent neighborhood of Buckhead and the woman who owns the most popular salon in town. Obviously, by the end, one of them is dead and one is a murderer.

I LOVED this book. I read it right after I finished season 3 of You and it was the perfect follow-up. It is full of twists and turns and cattiness and insanity. I love reading rich women acting horribly and maybe murdering each other and this one delivers. Definitely one of my top reads of the year and a go-to rec when it releases in April 2022. If you love a suburban thriller, this is a must read.

What I Liked:
I LOVED the characters. They had so much depth. I mean, I hated them, but I loved hating them.
The twist at the end was incredible!
I loved how the book was told from various points of view - it let us get a little snippet of everyone's mind and helped move the plot along.
I loved the LGBT+ inclusion!

An 'ok' thriller taking place in a Southern salon where only the richest can get in. It started off with far too many characters (worried I wouldn't be able to keep all their perspectives straight) but wasn't too bad! Ended up having a little twist at the end that surprised me, but I'm not sure this is one I'd go out of my way to recommend.

I feel like I'm in the minority but this wasn't a new favourite unfortunately. I did like how it was compared to Big Little Lies and I love the atmosphere the book brings to the story but the characters were awful. Very unlikable but it was ok 3.5⭐

When all your book besties group read this and love it so you read it but it’s kinda not out for you?

This immediately gave me hunting wives vibes.

Lemme explain. The first couple chapters sucked me in and I thought the book was gonna slam. But then it was as too confusing w SO many people and no POVs. The bulk of this was just caddy back and forth of frenemies and nothing really happens. In the end I wish I could say it all came together but because I was confused most of the time, the end didn’t super wow me.

I had trouble keeping the characters straight, ngl. Maybe if the chapter heads had the names of the POV it would’ve been easier, actually yesterday I think she mentioned she made this update. Not sure if that would help or if I’m just an idiot. Prob the latter. 🤣

Overall this was just ok to me. I loooooooved the idea but it didn’t play out as I hoped. But again i know loved this so maybe I’m just an idiot that couldn’t follow along properly. Haha.
