When Christian meets Liv, there is an instant attraction, and they enjoyed the playful flirtation. The attraction develops and then he finds out that she is the wife of his new boss. He really likes the new boss, and they have a good working relationship but the revelation that he has a strong attraction to his wife affects the working relationship. The boss invites Christian to his Beach house for a getaway and the spouses are included. He is not looking forward to this awkward situation. At the Beach. He encounters a mysterious aging rock star that helps him to see things differently. This book is a story involving lust, attraction and infidelity but it is also about how our life experiences shape us. I recommend this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Christian has a six-figure salary and is a rising star at his firm. Most of his friends are married, but Christian and his divorced buddy Jack party hard on the weekends. Christian’s life is work, partying and not much else, until he meets Liv. What starts as a lustful one-night stand turns into a soul-searching experience for Christian as Liv permeates every fiber of his being. Just one little hiccup in this relationship, though. Liv is married to Christian’s boss. The sane thing to do would be to drop Liv like a hot potato, but then a chance encounter with a mysterious aging rock star sets Christian on a different path. Christian begins to take stock of his life, and sometimes the way you look at something can change everything.

I really liked Vigliotti’s writing, with just a dash of dark humor, as well as the masculine perspective on love and relationships. The story never drags and his characters are well-developed, even if I sometimes found it hard to relate age-wise to them. However, there is a depth of emotion and substance to Christian and his perspective on life, both before and after, that will keep you reading. After all, actions have consequences, but your perspective can change everything.

Today we are reviewing 'Tom Collins'. We were so thrilled to be part of this book tour - we are so lucky that we are able to participate in things like this!!

Here's what I thought....

Tom Collins is an incredible book with a gripping love story. I'll be honest with you all, romance books are not normally my cup of tea... however, I managed to go through this book within a few hours. I have definitely had my head turned. I loved how Vigliotti made the Tom Collins drink seem like a bad omen - poor Christian didn't have the best of luck, did he??

This is my first book from Douglas Viglotti, so I was not sure what to expect at all. But, let me tell you, he is EXTREMELY talented!! Viglotti made the character of Christian seem so natural and relatable - I particularly loved his 'costumes' (my english analysis skills from my degree went mad at this part, aha).

Now, if you like dark humour, then this is the book FOR YOU!!!

I've not read anything by this author before, so I cannot compare this to other releases, but I found this to be quite entertaining, without really feeling at one with the main characters. They story was well written, but the people lived different lives to me and I didn't really care one way or the other about the good things and bad that happened to them.

However, do not allow that lack of engagement to put you off of the book. I did not once think I didn't want to read it and finished it in a few sessions. It is good read, well paced and draws the reader in, but it did not quite have the magic for me, hence only 4 stars.

Tom Collins is Christian’s favourite drink. Christian falls for Liv, who just happens to be his boss’s wife, but he doesn’t know that until he’s fallen in love with her. This has an exciting plot following Christian’s journey to discover what he wants from life and what’s important.

I liked all the characters in this book. The revelation of Olivia’s past felt a little unnecessary; it explains some of the plot. Still, I think it could have been just as good and relevant without it.

Tim felt a little weak when he confronted Christian. I thought that it could have had far more emotion and fireworks.

I particularly liked Jack though, his easy going and fun nature makes him the perfect best friend to Christian.

The end wasn’t what I expected, and it felt a little too soon. I would love to know what Christian does next and what happens with Liv.

I loved the excellent writing style of Douglas Vigliotti and his dark humour. This captured my attention and held my interest to the end. In addition, I enjoyed reading a ‘romantic’ book written by a male and featuring a male protagonist; it was refreshing.

I also enjoyed the quick pace and short chapters, which helped make this a quick and entertaining read,

This is a great debut novel, and I am looking forward to the mentioned podcast.

"I think your missing the point. It's not about wanting to stand in the rain, it's about not hiding from the rain, not being affected by it, because it's going to rain. It's always going to rain eventually."

The brilliantly written Tom Collins by debut novelist Douglas Vigliotti is filled with thought provoking, swoon worthy and stop your heart quotes that leave you breathless. For example, "Life isn't being sucked out of me, it's being blown into me...I am merciless with her for the rest of the night. How can I not be? It is everything I wanted and now have, even if it is just for one night."

Christian is 30 years old and on the track for upper management in his financial sales job. So what if weekends are spent downing Tom Collins and endless one night stands. Then she locks eyes with him at the Fatty Duck and he knows he is done. Is she the one that he not only wants in his bed but who he will fight for? After a night "spent howling like two wolves while confetti pours down from the moon," damn straight she's the one.

Four days later he has one more day and he will see her again. His Liv. Tonight he is finally getting his sales award. Life is finally all sunshine. Here come his boss. Wait I know the person next to him. Why is he with my Liv?
Then his boss introduces him to his wife Liv.

With the most clever witticism and soul searching inner thoughts we get the male point of view when Christian realizes he has slept with the wife of his new boss. It is a romance but it is also a moral dilemma. It is figuring out what is the life you want versus what you will settle for in life. A must read phenomenal storytelling experience.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is a perfect example of not judging a book by it's cover. I started reading with an open mind, and found an engaging story with some relatable and credible characters.

When Christian meets the enigmatic Liv, he believes he may have found the one thing he thought was missing from his otherwise successful life. After spending the night together, he wakes to an empty bed and a note saying that he can see her again the following week. When he discovers Liv is the wife of his boss, Christian finds himself caught in a potentially dangerous situation. I liked Christian. He was confident, had a measure of success, both personally and financially, and was a nice guy. But I think I would have run a mile.

I hadn't read anything by this author before, but if his other books are even half as good as this, I’ll be a happy reader. This book captured my attention and held on all the way to the end. I like the author's writing style, and the character development, especially the dialogue, made this compelling story much more enjoyable.

Overall, this was a well written, 'unputdownable’ book which I am happy to recommend. I gave Tom Collins, by Douglas Vigliotti five stars.

His name is Christian Ballantine. A Tom Collins is his favourite type of drink: a cocktail.
Christian likes to party. He has a good job and a nice home. He is good-looking and does well with women. He is still young; about thirty. Bur he is just getting to the point in life where his bachelor boy antics are increasingly starting to seem out of place as more and more of his friends are settling.
Then, he meets Liv, a slightly older woman, in a bar and the two begin a passionate affair. Without wishing to give too much away, Liv's arrival soon complicates things for Christian. Soon things get very awkward indeed.
Although Christian and Liv are hardly innocents, both are also the victim of circumstance. I was thoroughly absorbed by Douglas Vigolotti's novel throughout. Frankly, the only problem with it really was that it ended a bit too soon for me.
More, please!

This was suspenseful, funny, entertaining and well written! You won’t be able to put it down! It had me turning the pages just to see what would happen next in the adventures of Christian and Liv’s life! Who knew a story about everyday events could be so entertaining! I’ve never read anything by this author before but I look forward to changing that! This was a nice read to switch over from having read thrillers and horror books for the past month or so!
