Thank you to both #NetGalley and Wattpad books for providing me the opportunity to review Tamara Lush’s romance novel, #Drive, in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, drive was not for a reader like me. If you like romantic stories that involve a famous racecar driver and a member of his pit crew, have at it. I did not enjoy any particular part of this novel.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age range: 18+
Trope: Enemies to Lover, Fake Dating
Spice: 2/5

Overall: 3/5
Characters: 2.5/5
Plot: 3/5
Writing: 3/5

Content warning: *spicy scenes, sexism, cultural stereotyping*

The gist of my review:

Flirty, fun and fast! Tamara Lush’s ‘Drive’ will have romance readers in love with Dante and Savannah!

Characters: 2.5/5

I loved Savannah. Savvy is a determined and down to earth young woman who has big plans for not only herself, but also for the future of the sport she loves. I think readers will find her relatable and adorably innocent.

And then there’s Dante….

Dante is hot, sensual, dark and oh so tantalising…but he can be very problematic at times. I think his views about women, especially towards the first half of the book, will grate on some readers’ nerves. He’s very driven and focused on his goals as an athlete, and when his feelings develop for Savvy, he can be a very ‘young’ and loveable character, but I must admit, I didn’t swoon for him as hard as I have for other male love interests.

In addition, there’s a few cultural stereotypes that are presented that I couldn’t help but arch a brow up at. For one, there’s an Australian character in this book. As an Australian myself, I can tell you that it’s not an accurate representation of how we talk.

Second, Dante is expressed as having an Italian background. There were times where Lush used this character’s heritage as an excuse for misogynistic opinions and behaviour. I understand why this kind of stereotype is associated with the culture but I don’t believe it’s exactly reflective on the culture as a whole in a modern sense. There were particular lines used in this book that readers may be unhappy about.

Plot: 3/5

I think the romance plot itself came out as a gripping slow burn, however, the progression of the story and the timeline of events was expressed really quickly.

In other points of the book, I felt like the story became a little repetitive with all of the races and the partying, but I digress, that is the nature of Formula One as a sport.

Writing: 3/5

In my opinion, the writing in this novel wasn’t all that up to par. I felt like it was a bit juvenile in parts, but the winning point for me was that the author really captured the elements of F1 that only a fan/ avid watcher would know.

Conclusion:

Do I recommend this book? Yea absolutely. The book was an easy read that swept me up in the glitz and glam of the F1 world, and the saucy romance between two very hot characters. It may not be for everyone, but I definitely appreciate the work the Lush has done.

Drive was a decent story but the genres are listed as erotica, romance, and women's fiction. It was a romance story but I wouldn't call it either erotica or women's fiction since there wasn't much detail in spicy scenes. The genre set's up expectations and I feel like this fell short.

The way the book was well thought out and had so much length to it was amazing. Most books of this genre I have read are short and just revolve around the entimacy of the main characters. The author gave so much depth and character development for both Dante and Savvy. I didn't want to put this book down. It was truly amazing and inticing.

Another great Tamara Lush book.
Dante is a world famous racer. He is in the final races of his career and wants to finish on top. Savannah is a beautiful girl, determined to learn the racing world from the pit crew up. When she is hired to work in Dante's crew, he is not happy. Women do not belong in the crew after all. But, circumstances force the two of them to pretend to be engaged, and when they "break up" they are both left wondering if their relationship was more real than they thought.
While predictable, it was a great story. I loved Savannah's character, and rooted for her the whole book.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was everything I wanted and more... the angst and beautifully written story arc made this a joy to read.
As a Formula One fanatic I loved the breadcrumbs of information throughout that helped the build the world and also make it come to life and feel that bit more realistic.

The overall cuteness factor with Dante and Savannah was just to die for, all the small moments that just kept giving me all the feels... defo a book I will go back to regularly and recommend to anyone who loves angst, romance, haters to lovers.

Overall I would rate it 3.5 Stars, a safe book to always fall back on that you know will brighten your day!

I am so very thankful for the opportunity to read this book in advance.

Although I am not a huge car/race fan, I dove headfirst into this novel and LOVED it. The romance story between the main characters was one of slight age/career gap. I enjoyed the frequent switching of POV, you could always know where each character was coming from, and knew how each felt and what they were experiencing. I enjoyed the racing references and info, it did add to the story. Dante and Savvy have a great story, and I highly recommend this romance. #Drive #NetGalley
