Sexy Sommelier meets hunky baseball player in airport and buys him his favorite coffee. They are immediately taken with one another and so begins a steamy love affair, that ends as quickly as it began. But will they admit this is more than a fling and commit to seeing where it goes or will they call it a game and walk away?
While this may be for some, it was definitely not for me. I found it lacked any kind of character development or storyline beyond a very formulaic plot. The writing seemed immature and stunted, and I was not able to connect with a single character in any part of the book.
Given that this was an arc I received, I did not want to leave it unfinished and unreviewed. However, if I had stumbled across this on my own, this would have been a DNF (did not finish) hands down. This book is basically steam for steam’s sake with little else.
If you are looking for a spicy quick read, this may be for you. However, I would not recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and W by Wattpad Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for my (very) honest review.

To be honest, I wasn't able to finish this book. I've been in a book slump while super busy with work and school, so I don't fully blame the book itself. I was looking for something to catch and hold my interest, but I just couldn't get into it enough to block out the rest of the world. I'm not a big fan of insta-love, and this felt way too fast for me. The spicy scenes I got through were good and there were definitely some cute parts! I might give this another go in a few weeks when things aren't so busy.

While sitting at the airport, Gretchen sees her favorite baseball player coming towards where she’s sitting. He looks upset sitting there, so she decides to go out of her comfort zone and bring him a coffee.
Usually I’m not a huge fan of insta-love but their instant chemistry was AMAZING. These two had an instant connection that I absolutely loved. The only thing I didn’t love about this book was the epilogue. Personally I enjoy when an epilogue is years ahead and this one was only a few months but other than that I really enjoyed this book!
Thank you NetGalley and WattPad Books for this advanced readers copy!

I was drawn to this book because I enjoy sports romance and thought the cover was cute.
What I liked:
⚾️ Athlete main character
🍷Bold Female Main Character
What I didn’t like:
⚾️ Writing at times made characters feel immature
🍷 Didn’t feel like the connection between the two characters was deeply developed
⚾️ I found myself wanting to skim during a lot of parts.
I lost interest pretty quickly and took it as a negative sign that I wanted to push through it just so I could get to my next read. Unfortunately, not recommending it based on my own experience with it. I wasn’t able to finish it because I felt like I couldn’t click with the writing at all.

I'm DNFing this VERY early because I already hate Josh. He's the love interest and his POV is super annoying. He's like a horny teenage boy and I can not suffer through reading from his POV. The writing also has a fanfiction style to it and while that may be some people's style, it's definitely not mine.

Unfortunately this was a DNF book for me, I just could not get past the formatting. It was super distracting to me, but I might pick it up again after it's released with hopefully better formatting. I absolutely love the cover though, but I just couldn't get into the story.
Thank you to Wattpad and Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for my honest review.

This overall just left me super disappointed. I think this had a lot of tropes and really great themes going through the book that I usually love. But it just fell really flat. I didn’t love the communication between Gretchen and Josh. It seems like they were often times just talking at each other, rather than actually having a conversation. There was also a lot of telling and not showing when it came to some parts of the book and the communication between characters. I think all of the tension was just uncomfortable and seemed almost unnecessary or unbelievable a lot of the time. I didn’t love that both of the characters would just flip flop with their love and they never seemed to be on the same page about if they had a future or not. I think this had such promise but it just didn’t really work for me.

One small act of kindness can have huge ripples! When Gretchen sees one of her favorite baseball players having a bad day, her offer of a cup of coffee changes their lives forever. Josh's career and path forward are in flux, but somehow a stranger's compassion makes it better and stirs things in him he hasn't felt in years. Life isn't always so simple, though, and the combined challenges of fame, uncertainty, and two demanding jobs may prove impossible to overcome, no matter how much chemistry these two might share.
It was interesting to get a peek into the worlds of both baseball and wine distribution. Both Josh and Gretchen are nice, decent people, and it's easy to root for their happiness (though I might not have been as forgiving as Gretchen after one of their early conflicts!). There is definite steam between the two of them and watching them find their way is an enjoyable ride. Pick this up for a spicy, fun romp!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

I think i read this book in one sitting both because it felt shorter than others I've read recently and because it was so easy and fun. From the meet cute to the HEA the story moved quickly and was full of surprises and fun. I enjoyed seeing Harper and Josh take baby steps out of their comfort zone through out the book so that she could realize that there might be more to life than just work. They meet at a pretty low moment for Josh but it turns into one of those perfect moments where their entire lives change for the better and I enjoyed reading it thoroughly.

I was sucked in by the gorgeous cover but, alas, the story just wasn't doing it for me. I am not a fan of insta-love and this was definitely that! There was no build up at all. I was very put off by the format of this as well as the break in tenses at times. I didn't feel a connection to the steamy scenes either. If you're looking for a quick spicy baseball read then this is the book for you!

I love sports romances, but I especially love Baseball ones! I really liked the premise of this and I really liked the sentiment that one small act of kindness can lead to big things.
I wasn't a fan of the pacing of this one, and there were just some things I just didn't like or couldn't believe. I didn't like the best friend and the insta love was a little to insta and there wasn't much building to it.
However, if you just want to get lost in a book and don't care about technicalities, then it's a cute, light read.

Thank you Netgalley for the eARC copy!
The book starts with our main characters, Gretchen and Josh, meeting at the airport. They immediately feel an attraction towards each other and instant chemistry. Over the weekend, they spent lot of time getting to know each other and the people close to them, and we see them develop feelings for one another.
The steamy scenes were written well because you could feel through the pages how much they adore one another. Unfortunately for me, I think there was more lust than love between the two. And I think the book isn’t bad it’s just that insta-love and miscommunication tropes are not for me. Also, I find the book lacking of conflict and groveling which would have made the story more interesting.
If you’re looking for a fast-paced, insta-love, fun and entertaining sports romance read then I would recommend this!

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book around the 55% mark. First and foremost I could not read this book with the formatting the way it was. I hope that this was an error that can be corrected before final print. As I was reading I could not connect with the characters or believe in their chemistry. Their "meet cute" was so shallow that if felt like their insta love story was only insta lust and nothing more. Pair that with the constant miscommunication, it made the entire story nearly impossible to read. Normally, I will stick it out until the end of the book to see if the characters get their happy ever after and watch it all fall into place, but I have so little love for these two that I laid it to rest early.
This may be someone's cup of tea, but unfortunately it wasn't mine!

First of all, the formatting made this difficult to read. The story was cute, and sweet, but didn't feel like anything really innovative for me. I didn't them the writing was a good as it could've been. This was a just okay for me.

I did not finish this book. While I think it would be great for some contemporary romance readers looking for a quick, enjoyable read, it wasn't for me. I wasn't a fan of the style of writing and the story did not grab me right. I felt like I was pulled out of the story several times early on.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Books for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you love a good sports romance, and don't mind an insta-love type plot then this is the romance for you. Gretchen is a sports fan, and is particularly a fan of Josh's. Josh is having a crap day, as he has just been sent down to the minors. When Gretchen decides he looks like he needs a cup of coffee rather than a beg for an autograph, the sparks fly pretty much instantly.
This book has a quick turn around for the spice factor, if that's what you're looking for, but it still has a good plot with charm and memorable side characters. Don't let the cutesy cover fool you, this book is high on the smut factor (and I definitely don't mind that). I'm not sure what the opposite of a slow burn is - but this book is it. :)
I thought it was a fun and quick read, with more plot than usual for books with this many sex scenes. I'm always down for a good sports romance, and this was a good one. I'd definitely read more from Caroline Richardson!
Thanks to Wattpad books and to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I had some pretty high expectations when I first received this book, but unfortunately they just weren't met.
While I love the idea of a celebrity crush turned boyfriend, everything felt too rushed. I get that was the point, but I wish there was a little more to help make this love story believable.
Once I got past the fast pace of it all I didn't fully dislike it. Gretchen and Josh were super cute and the smut level was a little more than I thought to expect out of a story like this! Outside of their jaunts in the bedroom their love story was unbelievable. Their instant connection seemed forced, and then the added miscommunication trope had me rolling my eyes back.
Where this lost most of my interest was the vast amount of additional text that stood no place in the storyline. I think if you cut out 45% of this book and gave it to someone new to read, they would have read the exact same story but in a lot fewer words. I'm not particularly a huge fan of writing just to fill a chapter.
I guess the good thing was the HEA in the end, albeit a bit cheesy in the epilogue. Is it worth the read? I mean if you've got some extra time and feel like reading a fast paced s*x-fest with a hot baseball player. But if you're looking for something with a little more depth this might not be the one for you.
Unfortunately this one gets a generous 2.5 ⭐️ from me !

I love sports so I thought a baseball romance would be right up my alley, but other than the very cute cover, this one wasn’t for me.
Synopsis: Gretchen Harper, a wine sommelier, runs into her favorite professional baseball player, Joshua Malvern, at the airport. Instead of asking for an autograph, she buys him a coffee and this kind gesture leads to an invitation to fly first class with him on their flight to Las Vegas. Gretchen and Josh fall in love instantly and what starts as a one night stand ends up having potential for much more.
The premise for this book was cute and had potential, but Gretchen and Josh fell in love so fast that I was skeptical of their relationship from the beginning and was even rooting against them at times. In order for me to love a book, I need to love the characters and I didn’t feel like I had enough time to get to know them because everything kept happening so fast! If you’re okay with a lot of steam between two people who barely know each other, then you might enjoy this one. I loved the baseball aspect and I thought a couple of the minor characters were great, but overall this one missed the mark for me.

This was a huge no. The writing is very amateur, it’s awkward and choppy. The insta love and insta spice made no sense and was cringey, it’s so unrealistic and lacked depth. I skimmed through the entire thing but it was a lot of intimate scenes that didn’t make sense and fairly boring. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

First off, thank you NetGalley for this eARC!!
This was a super cute read!!!! I really enjoyed the relationship between Gretchen and Josh. The spice????? Don’t let this cover fool you, the spice had me blushing not gonna lie.
I feel like it was a very fast timeline. Very instalove. I didn’t mind it but if you hate instalove you might not like this so just keep that in mind.
It definitely kept me intrigued enough to finish the book and if there was a second book based off Sharla and Kevin I wouldn’t mind (I love forbidden love)
Overall this was a cute book. 4.25 stars!
