I love sports romances (I particularly LOVE baseball players) and have no issues with an instant-love/lust storyline, but this just really struck out for me.

I wanted to love this because I loved the idea of it, but the execution really missed the mark for me. I didn’t find myself drawn to any of the characters or their backstories. The writing was really slow in a lot of places (which I found particularly surprising given how short the book was). It was really difficult to get into the story and get invested.

I think there’s a really good idea for a story and characters here, but the book would have benefitted with some more fleshing out.

The synopsis made me want to love this book. However, I was not able to finish this book. The instant attraction was not believable, and the relationship felt rushed.

I unfortunately did not finish this. I’m sorry. I won’t be able to give a good review. I’m hoping to pick it back up d knot it more next time.

First book by this author, was cute but not overly exciting. I liked the storyline but found it a bit rushed. I am also not a fan of the miscommunication plots. Like real relationships work by communicating

Gretchen Harper always does things according to plan. She never steps out of her comfort zone, because it doesn't align with her career of being a wine sommelier. She is gifted with tasting and recognizing unique types of wine, and is headed to Vegas for a competition that will help with the success of her career. While at the airport, she runs into Joshua Malvern, an iconic baseball player who just got downgraded into the minor leagues and is not having a good day. When seeing him, Gretchen feels the need to get this guy coffee and go over to him, which is something she would never do on a regular day. Getting a famous athlete coffee at an airport? No way, Gretchen's too scared for that. So what about Joshua is pushing Gretchen out of her comfort zone? Meanwhile, when Joshua first gets approached by Gretchen, he automatically knows that despite Gretchen being a fan, there's more to her than what meets the eye. The two agree on a one night stand and nothing more, but what happens when feelings grow between each other? Even if they try to be together, their careers will not align with each other. The two have to decide whether their relationship is meant to be, or if they're really just playing with fire here. GO READ THIS BOOK.

I liked this book a lot. The romance between the two was great. I thought the plot was well-written and a great love story. I also enjoyed the attraction between the main character's best friend and her boss. It would be cool to have a story written for those two as well.
The only thing to be improved on would be proofreading. I noticed a lot of typos throughout the book.

I love sport romance books never get bored of reading them. So when I saw this was one I jumped at the chance.

I had very much wanted to love this book, as I love the sports premise. However as much as I would like to love it, no matter how much I try, I can't bring myself to care about the characters.

There isn't enough depth in the writing and I find myself skipping pages to get the story moving. For me in general, the main characters' feelings were not really explored in a deeper sense, and there was just too many pages spent on the smut, which I'm not complaining about, but made the entire story seem a bit cheap.

This was a super short book but fell really flat for me- it’s okay to be unrealistic in books that’s why it’s fiction but this felt so surreal. The characters needed to be fleshed out and the insta-love did not do it for me at all. I normally hate this trope but it CAN be done well and in this instance I don’t believe it was.

Gretchen is the type of girl to never do anything questionable. She follows the rules, is dependable and predictable. And she definitely doesn’t buy coffees for professional athletes she sees in airports. That is until she meets her favorite baseball player on the worst day of his career. What starts as a one night stand quickly is on its way to becoming something more if Gretchen is willing to take a chance.

I really wanted to like this one, but it fell a little short for me. I didn’t feel the spark between Joshua and Gretchen that is supposed to be the basis of their insta lust. The characters felt very one dimensional and the plot didn’t feel like the focus of the book. I liked the premise, but this one just didn’t work for me, personally.

As a side note, the formatting of the e-arc was so horrible, it was almost unreadable.

Thank you to NetGalley, Wattpad Books, and Caroline Richardson for the e-arc of Out of His League in exchange for an honest review.

I honestly have such mixed feelings about this book. I wanted to love it, I'm fully aware I was reading an ARC and that there may have been some things that were fixed later. But it felt like it needed a few more rounds of editing before calling it the final draft.

But on the other hand, the story was fun, and I loved the airport meet-cute. It was also super steamy, which is a tick in the pros column. I think once I got about halfway through and was more invested in the story I was able to ignore the little things that kept taking me out of the story, so it's worth a read if you can look past that! I'd give it 3.5 stars, but will round up to 4.

So baseball is my favorite sport and I am really into sports romance books. So I was super excited for this book. However, this novel focuses more on steamy things than the relationship between the characters. So I do not think this book would be for everyone. But I really enjoyed it. I think it was a really good quick steamy read. Did I like it when I was reading it yes. But this is also not one that I think I will read again. But I was happy that I did read it.

Thank you to #WattpadBooks and #NetGalley for the ARC of #OutofHisLeague!

I wanted to love this book SO bad. A baseball story, insta-;love, all things that interest me... except, the book did not interest me at all. I guess maybe I didn't connect with the characters as much as I needed to in order to enjoy it but I really felt nothing towards them. I really enjoy insta-love books generally but this one didn't feel like they were actually in love. I did enjoy all of the baseball references and the cover was super cute!

Out of His League is a cute and quick romance novel with baseball and wine undertones which was fun. It is definitely an Insta-love type story with immediate connection, tons of heat and steamy scenes. I liked the characters but I would have loved more of a Gretchen back story other than she is a big baseball fan. His story was a little more flushed out as his baseball career went through some changes. But it was a quick and fun read, so I recommend.

Out of His League was a cute little book that is good if you want an escape from reality for a while. The idea is that Gretchen runs into her favorite baseball player at the airport and as luck would have it, they sit close on the airplane and a romance follows. It's a little bit of an unrealistic fantasy and reads as you expect it would- meet, fall in lust, fall in love, have a falling out, get back together, BUT sometimes a quick, happy book is just what is needed!

This just didn't hit the mark for me. I didn't connect with the characters at all, especially after that weird first encounter. The only redeeming factor was the open door steamy scenes. She tried to provide some interesting plot points, but they felt super forced (looking at you Sharla scene and Neptune scene) and everything developed quickly just to get them back to the bedroom. Also, the baseball lingo felt all wrong.

Lesson learned. Check the publisher before requesting a book.

Out of His League sounded like a sweet sports romance that would be a perfect spring/summer read. I started to read it and was less than thrilled.

This book is published by Wattpad. While that isn't an inherently negative thing, I don't think it worked out in this book's favor. I read some amazing stories on Wattpad back in my day, this is not one of them.

There were not many things going on in this book and the plot was very slow at points. The romance was insta-lust which is even worse than insta-love. The main character's first encounter was shallow and not a great starting point for a compelling romance.

This book is pretty short, but the sad thing is I think it could have been even shorter. The subplots were weak and the conflicts felt like last-ditch efforts. I think most of my complaints boil down to plot and the lack of it.

Thank you to NetGalley for this digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

A very sweet story about a down on his luck baseball player and a kind fan! I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sports romances!

“Best damn coffee I ever bought.”

Was a little scared to read this after reading the reviews but I honestly loved it! It may have been the ginormous baseball fan in me but I enjoyed all of this book.

I have enjoyed the romance aspect of books more often and this one was great! It was a short but intriguing story!

A sports fan fic with no depth. I felt like this was something off wattpad; and I feel so bad writing that. It was an inta-lust with no emotional depth or growth with the characters.
