I wouldn't change a lick of this. I can't really think of a reason not to give it five stars. The setting and the plot are so
fun.
Almost immediately I loved both main characters. I found both Ellie and Jack entertaining and funny to read, and I was always smiling whenever they interacted. The development of their actual relationship during their road trip was adorable and it didn't feel rushed at all.
Overall, The Charmed List is a truly endearing, funny and undeniably magical rom-com and I am a hundred percent obsessed.

Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

I started my month with this as my very first read and can’t say I regret it a bit. This was very cute and at times quite a bit witty too. I really enjoyed the romance between Ellie and jack. Ngl, the magical aspects had a very tight grip on me but it was the angst and the way both the MCs reconnected, made it a fun read for me.

If you like magic, family dynamics, friendships, and friends to enemies to lovers relationships, read this! I loved the more realistic approach to magic and how it wasn't a grand-scale "fix-all" type of magic. That was unique and I appreciated seeing the magical cities and communities in this book!

I also liked the differing family dynamics and the growth of all of the characters in the book. Definitely some great character development!

I would've liked to get a bit more explanation for why Jack essentially bullied Ellie, he could've pushed her away without the bullying so I wanted a bit more depth to that than was given. I also would love to see how their siblings' relationships develop and I hope they get their own book! :)

I could kind of see that Jack and Ellie might be more than friends in the end. But I liked their journey to get there. I know it must be hard for Ellie to hide her magic from Lia. But I like that once she does find out its a chance for Ellie to figure out her relationship with Jack and to help their families.
I liked all the magical aspects of this book too. It added that extra sparkly note to the whole story Some parts were a bit corny but it was a cute read.

Thanks NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC!

Ellie Kobata, AKA the invisible girl, wants to change her life and makes a list of 13 things she can do to spice things up. But when getting revenge on her ex-best friend, Jack, goes awry, she may be getting more than what she bargained for… and she may just be able to cross more than one thing off her list all in one go.

Honestly had no idea what to expect from this book — I was just drawn to the cover. So I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this story!

The characters are cute and the slow burn romance had me GOING. Jack and Ellie are both so young and so adorable, and I loved the bits of magic that were sprinkled into the story. Like, can I please stay in a magical cottage and eat magical ice cream that changes into whatever flavor I want with each bite?

Was cute but damn was it immature and corny sometimes. Im a gen z and not a teen anymore but still some of the phrases and lingo were awkward

This one was so adorable! I'm not normally a fan of urban fantasy type reads, but I think the magical aspects of this one are part of the reason I fell in love with this one. Everything about it was so charming and sweet, it was the perfect rainy day read

So many times, YA romances rely on a contemporary setting to carry them. This one was contemporary, but I absolutely loved the magic. From the magical village to the cottage, everything about it sounded so adorable. It stole my heart dragged it into a place of magic and possibility. Every description was so vivid, by the end, I could practically see the magic dust shimmering. I didn't know this one had magic when I picked it up, but I'm so happy it did.

I also really loved the relationship between Ellie and Jack. I tend to avoid friends to lovers stories, but I loved the extra bits of tension it added. They both knew each other so well, knew exactly how to hurt each other. This prior knowledge combined with their current hatred made such a cool dynamic. I loved watching them slowly reconnect again, especially because they did it in such adorable ways.

I picked this one up because of the cute cover, and ended up loving it because of the characters. So many times I've been disappointed by cover buys, but this wasn't one of them. I'd definitely recommend it!

Ellie's plans to enjoy the summer before her senior year by tackling an anti-wallflower list go awry when a prank against a former friend reveals a secret that could doom Ellie for the rest of her life. Magic is real - but it doesn't look like stuff you'd learn at Hogwarts. Ellie and her family can do small magics - charms to brighten people's days, magical baking and teas to soothe and give courage. When Ellie's best friend finds out about magic, Ellie's summer road trip becomes a punishment - forcing herself and her nemesis Jack to drive down the coast and set up for a vendor convention. Ellie and Jack used to be friends, but can they get along long enough to keep from damaging their families' businesses?

This was a wonderfully cute, teen romance. The characters are well-drawn and varied. I was as confused about Jack's motivations as Ellie was, so I believe the POV was well accomplished. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

This is a lighthearted and adorable younger-YA that follows our main character on the summer before her senior year of high school. This is almost a Contemporary, except that magic is real and happening all around us, though the non-magical are not supposed to know of its existence. This book is a good way to spend an afternoon.

Thank you so much for sending me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review. first off I love that the author is writing YA. However this just felt a lot like Eva Evergreen but in a more YA setting. this is a perfect read for those people who want something magical but in a YA setting instead.

A magical coming of age story about figuring out how to stay friends with old and new friends. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it when you need a classic book where the boy and girl fall in love and everything works out. I thought the magical background added a lot to the book and made it more interesting.

I received an arc of The Charmed List thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, and honestly, I felt like the charmed one. This book was so cute, sweet, fun, and magical.

Ellie is one of those characters who you can instantly relate with and whom you instantly care about. She is a very well-written character. I need to know she was going to be okay! We follow her journal of being a magic aware person in a magical community that exists in the real world, yet has their magic safely hidden. The magic is done so well, by the way. I couldn’t get enough of it, It’s the type of magic that just makes you happy with its whimsical nature. It’s not overly complicated and makes perfect sense in to the story.

Ellie is very shy, she doesn’t feel as though she fits in, she struggles a lot with self-doubt and calls herself a wallflower. She never comes across as whiny, or as someone who fall into the “not like other girls” trope. She feels very real and authentic. She makes a list to help her break out of her shell, it’s called the anti-wallflower list, and it’s the catalyst for the story. When she makes a huge mistake she is no longer able to take a road trip with her best-friend. Rather, she must now go with Jack Yasuda, her former best-friend turned enemy. And here’s where we get to the really good part.

Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes and this works so well, Jack is now one if my new book boyfriends by the way. Jack and Ellie have real chemistry and the struggle and angst just flies of the pages. I couldn’t get enough of them.

The story moves very quickly! I was never bored nor was I ever confused by the magic, it all worked so smoothly.

There are a lot of pop culture references and I’m not sure how I feel about that. It did kinda take me out of the story. Also, I think there should be a trigger warning for death of a loved one.

Overall, this is a great, light, magical ya romance. It’s definitely worth your time and money. I was lucky to read an ARC, but I’ll probably buy this book when it comes out to read again. I’d say it’s a solid 4.5 stars

This one was a cute, fast read. Ellie and Jack are likeable, though sometimes they seemed quite young. The little touches of magic were charming, if you'll pardon my pun. I liked the arc with Lia, Ellie's best friend. The list was a fun idea, but I wish the story had gotten a bit more depth from it.

This. Book. THIS BOOK. This book was sooooo flipping cute that it drive me into hours of cute aggression (it’s a real thing, I promise. Look it up.)

I really enjoyed the magic system at work here, because it felt… real. If magic did exist in this world, I feel like it would be something like how it works in this book. It’s all small scale, subtle things, nothing too flashy, but still completely… magical.

Jack and Ellie and their relationship was really believable and gave me the warm fuzzies all over. And let me tell you, I am a sucker for a book that does the one bed trope. Brilliant, all around. A lovely read for warming me up right now when the weather is turning cold, but would also be perfect for a warm summer day beach read.

“The Charmed List.” This book kept me very entertained, it was cute, charming, and has a little magic because who doesn’t love that? The characters were a bit predictable at times but also made unexpected decisions sometimes.
Would totally recommend this book to anybody look for a charming fast read that will keep you entertained. Definitely check this book out when it comes out next summer!
