Diving in head first, I expected this book to reach the level of excitement I had while reading After. Unfortunately, the reaction was quite the opposite.

Although at first I thought it had something to do with my age (I read After when I was 17 and now I'm 23 and almost sort of outgrown that phase), when I kept going it seemed a little shallow and I found myself unable to connect with the characters. Raquel gave me Joe Goldberg vibes and Ares just...no. Even the name suggests danger and war and that simply puts me off.

The writing was okay. Not mind-blowingly good but not exactly mediocre either. I see myself devouring this in a single sitting if I was still a teen, but even as a YA reader now, this book was a little meh.

I wanted to love this book but it fell short and wasn't executed well enough even though a promising premise was made.

I had a difficult time reading this book. The main characters were in high school so the steamy scenes seemed inappropriate. Raquel spent the first half of the book being treated very badly yet kept giving Ares more chances. The reason that he treated her badly was because he loved her is a horrible message to send to young women. She then spent the rest of the book lying to her mother with out consequences. Reading about all the times the teens went ro bars and clubs was too unrealistic even for fiction..

I requested to review Through My Window because it reminded me of After by Anna Todd in that they both feature toxic relationships with commitment issues and emotional baggage.

I really wanted to like Through My Window more than I did, but the juvenile writing does a disservice to the story. Because of the writing, the main character, Raquel, comes off as much younger than a senior in high school. It was difficult to connect with her on any level because of her juvenile inner monologue. The nicknames the main characters give each other never end up feeling genuine, so they pulled me out of the story every time they were used, which was a lot.

Despite the juvenile writing, the content of the novel is anything but juvenile and is quite graphic. Godoy has a knack for writing steamy scenes and they are easily the best part of the novel.

What I enjoyed most about Through My Window was the lack of unnecessary drama. There wasn’t obstacle after obstacle for the couple to surmount. Godoy struck a delicate balance between drama to ratchet up the tension without going too far.

Slight spoiler ahead….. the suicide attempt could have been taken out of the story completely for how useless it was to the plot. It was used as a shock and awe moment that offered nothing to the plot nor anything useful to the discourse surrounding depression and suicide.

I wish I would have read this around the time I first read After since I think I would have enjoyed it more. Though, I am now looking forward to the Netflix adaptation!

Overall, Through My Window was a little juvenile for my tastes but I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of unnecessary drama and the steamy scenes.

3.5/5 stars

Tropes:
- Neighbors
- Toxic love
- Rich boy / poor girl
- Stalker tendencies

I was so glad when I got approved for this book since I saw it will become a movie on Netflix. However, the relationship between Raquel and Ares was so toxic I just couldn't relate to neither of them. Raquel has been obsessing over Ares for years but he has never paid her attention till one day and from there we get toxic conversations, action, etc.
As a positive comment I can say the book is pretty fast and even entertaining the downside is the recurring use of phrases and words.
Overall is a quick read with lots of +18 scenes and a "good" ending.

Pd. Please look for TW before reading this book since it mentions and projects some delicate topics.

Thanks NetGalley and Wattpad Books for giving me an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and Wattpad for this eARC in return for an honest review.

To start off, I was pretty excited to read this novel when I heard that there was going to be a Netflix adaptation. I was going in so ready for a steamy, bully-to-lover main love interest, however it turns out maybe it was more than I bargained for. It was not quite my cup of tea, and to be honest I found it hard to finish.

I found the plot to be hard to follow, it was jumping around a lot. I also was not a huge fan of the "greek god" aspect of Ares, and the whole vibe felt very toxic with manipulation and jealousy being a the forefront. I also found the writing to be hard to follow, with grammatical issues here and there. This made it hard for me to want to finish the book, to be honest.

That being said, the spice and angst was definitely there! I'm interested to see how this book gets translated into a netflix show/movie.

Ahhhh… passionate and so very messy teenage love… Through my Window by Ariana Godoy perfectly illustrates how complicated romantic relationships are in high school.

When I first came across this book and saw it would end up on Netflix, I knew I had to give this one a read. One of my favorite things is reading a book before it becomes a movie.

This story begins as any standard storyline - doe-eyed girl, Raquel, longing for the attention of the handsome, brooding next-door neighbor, Ares. From there, it twists from stalker-like tendencies into fiery yet somewhat awkward situations, but neither seems to mind.

I thought the beginning and the end of the story were a little choppy with dialog and scene breaks - some of the time, I found myself confused with who was talking and when.

However, most of the story was alluring, with vivid depictions of the character’s insecure first-love worries and anxious, do-I-trust-them feelings. It made the story feel relatable and kept my attention.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Wattpad, and Ariana Godoy for an advanced reader copy of Through My Window in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Wattpad publisher and netgalley for the ebook copy!

Want to start off by saying that this story is new to me in the sense that I never read it on Wattpad since I live in The U.S. and I believe this was written in Spain by an author that speaks Spanish. This is a translated book and honestly it was good.

However, the plot was just all over the place. I hated the way the Ares played and disrespected Raquel, and she let him do it!

It felt like reading fanfiction! the book was written very poorly. I hope that the publisher really takes it’s time to edit this book.

I did skip a few chapters at the very end and just skimmed through them because honestly they were boring. Not my favorite Wattpad book this far.

I did enjoy the beginning and some parts of the middle. It was entertaining to read and can’t wait for book 2 and also the movie on Netflix.

I loved this book! I feel like the story line was written perfectly and it had everything I look for in a book. It made me laugh and it also had some spice. This story is about Raquel who has a crush on her neighbor Ares and one day he climbs through her window and everything changes from that point on. They fall hard for each other but they face some hardships throughout the book and the ending was honestly so good. I can’t wait to watch the Netflix film.

I was interested and definitely curious when I found out this book was going to be adapted into a film for Netflix. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. It romanticized stalking, manipulation and abuse. I think the "toxic relationship" cliché is not my thing, but it definitely could be someone else’s.

I want to thank NetGalley, Ariana Godoy and Wattpad Books for the e-ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

Solid book, I also appreciated the fact that it featured non-Caucasian leads. Ariana did a excellent job selling the reader on the main characters. I must admit at the beginning I was hesitant that I was going to enjoy this one, but within the first 50 pages Ariana was able to win me over. The book moves at a pretty good pace, it doesn't ever really lag. I especially like the character development of Ares. Rachel was ok too, but I felt like she did better with Ares. The only drawback of this novel, (as much as pains me to admit) it really does feel more like a screenplay than a novel. Which means this read more like a movie that a novel. Which makes sense, since its apparently going to be on Netflix.

This was an amazing book that had everything you could ask for. I laughed and cried while reading it. The characters really grew and matured through out the story and I would love to read a follow up on their lives! Would definitely check out her other books!!

This book is so addictive I loved every minute of it!
Raquel Álvarez is hardworking and serious about her future. She’s only got one goal—to become a psychologist. Well, that and to get Ares Hildago to notice her.

For as long as Raquel can remember, she has been obsessed with Ares. Even though he lives next door, Raquel has never spoken to him. Yet, she can’t help thinking there’s more to him than his rich, hot playboy image. . . and she can’t help imagining what it’d feel like to kiss him.

After a chance encounter reveals her crush is anything but unrequited, their steamy attraction grows into what can only be described as hands-down hot. They fall hard and fast for one another.

Raquel is all in with Ares. But Ares can’t, or won’t, commit. His life has been spelled out for him from the beginning. Once he’s done with school, he’ll join the family business. For now? Stay cool. Stay unconnected. And don’t fall in love.

What burns bright burns fast, but for Ares and Raquel, can it last?

For fans of After and The Impact of You comes an addictive story about a young woman who fantasized about her neighbor from afar only to find that he’s equally obsessed with her.

You very rarely find a romance where two people are equally into each other especially at the same time or early on. It was very intriguing reading Ares & Raquel story. I was so excite$ to read and see if they go the distance and I can’t wait to see how this story is reimagined on the small screen. Wattapad writers are very talented. It’s amazing to see how far they can go.
