I thought this book was more about healthy eating and balancing intake but it was about an eating disorder. I would think people would definitely find it valuable and important. Easy and useful read. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A gripping memoir on the battle with a binge eating disorder. This book was very different from what I expected after seeing the cover and reading the blurb. After I was done reading this book, I went to look at some thought of other people, and they were all of the same opinion.

Mostly, I think this is because this really is more of a memoir than an book focused on binge eating disorder. The author has had some hardships, always works (a little too) hard, had trouble conceiving and fought "the Dark Voice" for a long time. Which is okay, but if you look at the cover and read the back flap text, you'd expect less of a memoir. Also, this book is REALLY heavy on religion. I generally don't connect with books with loads of religion, unless it's a book factually describing it like a study book or history book. I think I might have passed this one if I knew this beforehand.

Considering this, I could not personally connect with the author and the story. I imagine that there would be people that can really connect with it, though, just not me. I did love how the author sometimes talks to us, the readers, and drops a solid question. It really made me stop and think about what I would answer.

I couldn't connect with this book. It did have some good parts however and I feel some people would benefit from reading hence rating.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

This book is a raw, honest, account of a woman's struggle with weight and coping. She describes this as the binge and sprint process, all while navigating around the "Dark voice". The first few chapters were hard for me to get into, as it was a lot of advice and "you" statements, which I was not expecting, I preferred the memoir portion of the book that describes her real life situations. I enjoyed reading about her phases of life and how the binging would sneak up on her, and how she would hide particular things from her friends and family. It was interesting to hear about how she was raised, particularly around her father. He did not believe in rest, you had to be going going going, if you weren't you were lazy. So Naomi found herself with multiple jobs and consistently on the go, often times not taking care of herself. Unfortunately this frame of mind from her childhood carried on throughout her entire life.

This book was okay, but it wasn't the best book I've read in this genre.

Book different than I imagined.

Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free, it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
