A domestic suspense that had the right elements to attract this reviewer!

We all know the story. A man cheats. The woman he was having an affair with is found murdered. The husband becomes the main suspect.

Did he do it?

Vince Taylor had everything. He is the CEO of Kitztech, a successful tech company responsible for famous apps. He is married to his beautiful and lovely wife, Nicole. Then a new intern, Layla begins working for his company. He becomes entangled with Layla and when he decides to break things up with her, she is found dead in Central Park. Cause of death: blunt head trauma.

The cops, Detective Allison Barnes and detective Jack Lanner come knocking asking questions and all clues point to Vince as the prime suspect. They just have to prove it.

I did not feel any empathy toward Vince. After all, he had a good life and decided to throw it all away by cheating. He made his bed and now he had to lay in it. I wanted detective Barnes to get him for his lies. His wife deserved better!

Stephanie DeCarolis's debut novel was told from multiple POVs and had different timelines. The Guilty Husband was a fast-paced, addicting suspense novel that had me listening whenever I could. I do have to admit that I knew the ending from the very beginning but despite guessing it, I enjoyed the deliverance.

Cliffhanger: No

4/5 Fangs

This thriller was so exciting. It had twist after twist. Not only did Vince change Layla's life with the affair, he changed the course of his wifes life with the affair, as well. A mix of love with his wife and her devotion to Vince. Then, Layla seemingly throwing herself at Vince. After her death, Vince learns even more about the women Layla was before him and it's a roller coaster in itself. Definitely check out this book for suspense and surprise in each chapter.

Vince Taylor has the perfect life - CEO of a tech firm, owner of a beautiful home and married to the woman that most men can only dream about!

Then along comes Layla…

Captivated by someone both stunning and new, Vince has an affair with Layla, but this is not his only problem. Before too long, Layla turns up dead and guess who is the prime suspect.

This book was entertaining with a great plot twist in that ending! I loved how there were limited characters which kept it easy to remember who was who without any confusion.

A short and enjoyable book!

Wow! So I thought this one was gonna be your typical, cliche, CEO husband cheats on perfect wife blah blah blah but this one, woah!! Did not see that ending coming. I thought I had it figured out. Nope, sure didn't. This one kept me guessing. Definitely a page turner!

I wasn't sure what to expect from The guilty Husband. At first I found it a bit typical and slow, then all of a sudden it took off like a shot! Completely unputdownable and full of twists and turns! I loved it! Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, The Guilty Husband did not do it for me. The writing was elementary, all the characters were awful people, and the “plot twist” could be seen a mile away.

This was a really dialogue heavy book, which is common for the thriller genre but I was feeling detached from the world. The descriptions we did get were repetitive. I didn’t need to read how the house looked from multiple character’s perspectives, for example. Also, every little action was described. Instead of it being something like “I called IT for the report I was waiting on,” it was more like:

Character A: The IT report is ready.
Character B: Alright I’ll call them.
I dialed the IT number.
Character B: Hey, I heard the report is ready. Can you send it to me?
Character C: It is ready! Check your email in a minute.
I waited and the email came in about a minute later. It was the IT report.

That’s slightly exaggerated, but I can’t stand writing like this. So many words wasted!

Alright, on to the characters. Seriously all of them were so unlikable I wasn’t rooting for anyone. Vince is such a douche to his wife and only cares for himself. I think the novel is trying to make him a lovably flawed character, but he has no redeemable qualities for me. Alison, the detective leading Layla’s homicide case, is also super unlikable. She’s so convinced Vince is guilty that she overlooks evidence. Her partner even warns her of this, but then at the end she’s all OMG I can’t believe I did that. Like… but literally everyone around you noticed it so I don’t feel sorry for you. The leads they followed felt random and then they completely ignored exploring other avenues. Like, no one really tried to find out who the anonymous source for the World View was. No one questioned who would have motive to send in the diary pages. It was frustrating to read.

Finally, the not so twisty plot twist. If you examined the case better than the police did, and a four-year-old probably could, you could basically guess who the killer was. The confession chapters were essentially a recap of the entire book. We didn’t need to hear how every detail happened. Just fill us in on the parts we didn’t see and a reader could fill in the gaps. I felt like my hand was being held the entire time.

The premise was interesting, the beginning was pretty captivating, but then it all went downhill. There was more to this I didn’t like (seeing Alison’s home life, trying to have a feminist narrative but really coming across the opposite, the lawyer friend and wife plot line), but I’ll leave it at this. Not for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper 360 for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The Guilty Husband by Stephanie DeCarolis is a well written thriller. From the very beginning I judged the cover hoping there would be some twisty secrets inside based on the title and I was not disappointed! Vince the husband and CEO at Kitztech has so many lies and secrets he’s hiding, especially when intern and secret mistress Layla is found dead all eyes are on him. The book is so hard to put down, every time you think you have it figured out there’s another twist and turn. It’s everything you want when you read a intense book.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the eARC in exchange for my honest review

I enjoyed this one! This had all the elements of a great domestic thriller. Sketchy husband, sketchy mistress and a heartbroken wife... I couldn't put it down until I knew exactly what happened and who was really guilty.

This was such an enjoyable debut. This is a novel of a Tech CEO who has had an affair with a vixen Intern who winds up dead. This was fast paced and the ending was a surprise. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me an ARC copy of this great book.

Vince Taylor, from the outside, seems to have the perfect life. Stunning wife, huge home, nice cars and a tech startup that has taken off and made him richer than his wildest dreams. That is, until one night one of his interns is found dead. When his affair with her gets revealed on the front page of the newspaper, everything in his world crumbles around him, and he’s left scrambling to prove he didn’t do it before he gets locked away forever.
This was super fast paced and told from several POVA. The timeline slipped all over the place, which kept you on your toes. An un-put down able read, I found myself ignoring everything else so I could keep turning pages. This definition didn’t seem like the work of a debut novelist and I can’t wait to read what she writes next.
Thanks to Harper HQ and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my review.

Vince Taylor appears to have everything a man could want; he's the CEO of his tech company, has a wife, and a beautiful home. But appearances aren't everything. Vince was hiding a secret, an affair with a young intern at his company until she shows up dead in Central Park. If he was able to hide the affair, are there other things he's choosing not to share?

This was a great psychological thriller. Told from multiple perspectives, the plot keeps you guessing with all its twists and turns. A must read that you won't be able to put down!

The Guilty Husband by Stephanie DeCarolis is a domestic thriller novel and was originally published in 2021 but is now being released in paperback. The story in The Guilty Husband is one that is told by changing the point of view between the characters giving all angles to the story.

Vince Taylor is a man that seems to have it all, a beautiful wife, Nicole, and as a CEO of a major company Vince is very wealthy. However, when the police come to question Vince about the murder of one of his young interns, Layla, Vince sees his world beginning to crumble as Vince was having an affair with Layla and doesn’t admit that to Detective Barnes or his wife.

The Guilty Husband by Stephanie DeCarolis was a novel that once I picked up I became completely engaged and didn’t want to put it down. I enjoyed the back and forth between the characters that was a fun game of cat and mouse. The story of course came with a few twists and turns that made it that much more enjoyable as it went along and I would definitely read this author again in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

The story in this domestic thriller is mainly told from the point of view of Vince, the prime suspect in murdering an intern from his tech develpment company, and the lead detective on the case. Vince is rich, handsome, and successful but from the first time Detective Allison Barnes questions him, she can tell he's lying about something. We get a look at Allison's personal life, but I liked that most of her chapters read like a suspenseful police procedural and she and her partner Detective Jake Lanner investigation the murder of Layla Bosch.

It soon becomes clear that almost every character in the book is keeping secrets. Flashbacks show that even the victim was hiding things. Early on in the book, I became suspicious of everyone and the line between good and bad characters isn't clear-cut. I was able to figure out some things about the murder and the events leading up to it, but was still surprised about several parts of the ending. The Guilty Husband is a fast-paced, engrossing thriller with a surprising ending I enjoyed.

I received this ebook from NetGalley through the courtesy of HQ Digital. An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Vince has everything! He is the CEO of a tech company, has a perfect house, and amazing wife! When the police come to investigate the death of a young intern, Layla, that worked for him, he attempts to hide all of his secrets and connects to her. I was hooked from the start! What lead to the death of Layla and why was she murdered in Central Park? It’s a wild ride that will leave you speechless!

Wow, this was a great psychological thriller/mystery that you will not see the final twists coming! I thought for sure I figured out the mystery of the murderer several times thoroughly the book and I was completely wrong! I was extremely surprised that this was a debut from Stephanie DeCarolis because it is such a well thought out, twisty, and thought provoking book! I loved how fast pace this book was and I look forward to reading more by DeCarolis! I highly recommend this book for all psychological thriller lovers!

Vince Taylor has got it all – he’s the CEO of his own hugely successful tech firm and is married to his gorgeous wife Nicole, who he’s been in love with since the moment he set eyes on her. But Vince has a secret – don’t they always? – he’s been having an affair with a sexy young intern at his company and she’s just turned up dead in Central Park. Vince swears he’s not guilty of murder, but he’s sure acting like a man who has something to hide…

This book hooked me from the very first chapter! It’s everything a psychological thriller should be – fast paced, full of twists and turns, some red herrings to throw the reader off the track, and a stunner of an ending. There’s some police procedural thrown in for good measure too. I loved Detective Allison Barnes and I hope Ms. DeCarolis writes about her again the future, she’s a great character. Oh, and did I mention this is DeCarolis’s debut novel? Wow! Coming out of the gate so strong makes me eager to see what she’ll write in the future!

Fans of “The Last Mrs. Parrish” and “Gone Girl” will really enjoy this novel. Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper360 for providing me an advance copy of this book.

The Guilty Husband, is exactly what I needed right now. This book is highly suspenseful and thrilling. I have been in a book slump. Reading thrillers that were not thrilling, suspense novels that were straight up boring and murder mysteries that lacked mystery.

The Guilty Husband is categorized as a suspenseful psychological thriller and it is exactly just that! The Guilty Husband delivers! Jam packed with twists and turns that there is no way you will see coming.

Is this really a debut novel? Stephanie DeCarolis, you knocked this one out of the park.

Told through multiple points of view and done with such ease and clarity, this is a book I will be raving about for a long time.

Quite a few times I thought I had this book all figured out and boy oh boy was I wrong! This is an instant 5 star book and I believe it is going to really break the internet on release day! Kudos to DeCarolis! This is an author you will want to keep on your radar.

The Guilty Husband by Stephanie DeCarolis

WOW!! This one had me right from the beginning all the way to the end!! I couldn't put it down. This author is new to me and sooo look forward to reading other books from her! Love her style!! It's always great to have a book that holds your attention the entire time!!

Vince Taylor has everything he could dream of! He’s the CEO of a tech firm in New York City, owns a beautiful home, and married to Nicole – the woman who stole his heart the first moment he set eyes on her. Together they have built the perfect life.

But right from the beginning you learn Vince was having an affair with an intern from his company, Layla Bosch. She's found dead!

Did Vince have something to do with it? All the lies. All the stories....

I did figure some of the story out before the end, but I still really enjoyed reading this book!!

Thank you Stephanie DeCarolis, Harper 360 and NetGalley for the advanced copy to read to this book in return for my honest review!

Vince has it all: a successful company, nice home, and a beautiful wife. So why would he jeopardize all of it with an affair? And then the girl winds up dead. Halfway through I figured out who the real perp was and it made
total sense. Revenge can be so exacting.
It’s a good whodunit book and plus a valuable testament to always think of the repercussions of actions. Plus never underestimate anyone.
