This book was more slowly plotted than the books I usually read, so it took me a while to get into it. It doesn't pick up until halfway through, but then there are a fair number of surprising plot twists that start happening that bring it all together and build to a good conclusion. Although I didn't like the characters I enjoyed how the story was told through multiple points of view, which kept the mystery going.

Lucy Foley's books have quickly become must-reads for me so I was super excited to get an early copy of her latest, The Paris Apartment. I had a hard time putting this down, I just had to find out what happened next in this bizarre apartment building! Every character is suspicious, even our protagonist. There were quite a few tense moments and twists. I also loved that this was not a tourist's view of Paris but something darker and more sinister. I'll definitely be handing this to my mystery and thriller fans.

An exciting thrill ride through Paris! Jess travels to Paris to visit her brother, but when she arrives at his apartment Ben is nowhere to be found. Jess suspects something terrible has happened. The other building residents seem like they have something to hide, but what?
What I loved- the descriptions of Paris and the apartment building really made me feel like I was there. So many small details that I really appreciated. The characters were well-drawn and I liked that so much background info was given so you could see their motivations and personalities. The pacing was just right for me. It was just quick enough that you stayed invested, but not so quick that it felt rushed. The dark, creepy feeling it gives you is amazing. You know something is not right, but you just can't quite put your finger on it until at the end you go, oh!
What I didn't love- Some of the characters felt a little stereotypical. Some of the subplots felt unnecessary.

I’ve read a few of Lucy Foley’s book and they all seem to start out a little slow for me but build up very quickly until you get to the end. This one was no exception.

I read a lot of thrillers and this one had me guessing until the end which is usually a good sign of a decent book for me. I look forward to sharing this with my customers when it comes out!

Wow! What an awesome mystery, full of unexpected twists and turns! A very fast-paced read about an apartment building full of residents with some deep dark secrets. Highly recommend! 4.5 stars.

There are so many things I like about this book. Love the premise, the fact that it's set in Paris, the cool cover. The story revolves around Jess, who is coming to visit her brother Ben. Only when she gets there, she discovers Ben is not there - and he doesn't answer his phone or his texts. The other occupants of the building are not friendly and not forthcoming with information as to Ben or his whereabouts and seem sketchy at best. I really wanted to like this book. Just for the cover alone. But unfortunately this one just didn't do it for me. The story and the characters just fell flat and I found my mind wandering as I read it. I've liked Lucy Foley's previous books, but I just couldn't get into this one and couldn't recommend it. It was just ok. Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.

I really enjoyed this suspense thriller with all of its twists and turns. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I certainly don’t think it will be the last. I was captivated by the characters and the setting from the get go, and even though it lagged a bit in the middle, I never lost interest in wanting to know what happened to poor Ben.

The book is told through multiple narrators, which was a little bit confusing at first, but once you get them all straightened out you begin to realize how most of them are so unreliable and are hiding deep and dark secrets. The only slightly trustworthy person is Jess, and only because she is the only character that has nothing to do with Ben’s disappearance. None of the characters, including Jess are very likeable, which only adds to the tension and the suspense as the secrets begin to unravel and what really happened the night Jess arrives is slowly revealed.

The plot is very well done, although there are times when the jumps back in time were a little bit jarring. Most of these were done as memories, but there were a few chapters that started with a memory and you weren’t sure what was going on. But the secrets are slowly revealed and there are quite a few twists that are thrown in that will throw you off the track of what really went down.

The writing is also well done. The descriptions of the building and other places in Paris are well done and make you feel just as creeped out and scared as Jess is feeling. The attention to detail and to the characters thoughts and feelings is what makes this an exceptionally well done mystery.

If you have enjoyed this author’s work in the past than I think you will enjoy this one too. If you are like me and haven’t read any of her other works, but you like well crafted psychological mysteries then this is a book that you should give a try.

This book was not what I expected from Lucy Foley, but I was drawn in quickly to the story of the strange, amazing house and its mysterious collection of eccentric, potentially dangerous characters. As the story progressed, and I learned more about what was going on, the secrets piled upon secrets seemed to make no sense, and I couldn't figure out how the story would resolve. I haven't been this engaged in a story where all the characters were unlikeable, but as their stories unfolded, black and white turned to gray in many cases. The ending was very satisfactory.

This was a page turner! I couldn't put it down! The story had layers that slowly unfolded keeping you wanting to turn to the next page. As each character was introduced, they were crazier than the last one. And I was loving every last word. Bravo Lucy!!!

Another Lucy Foley book that does not disappoint! I really had no clue about the ending, it was all quite a surprise and I love that about a thriller.

Synopis- Jess arrives late at night at her half brother's apartment but when she gets to the apartment there is no Ben. There is suspicious signs around the apartment that lead Jess to think that there was foul play in Ben's disappearance. Ben's apartment is in an expensive closed gate community with eccentric neighbors. As Jess looks for answers the more her suspicions grow towards Ben's neighbors.

The first half of this book was a bit slow but once I got past the other second half of the book it was a very quick read. I will definitely be recommending this one! Thank you Netgalley for an advanced reader's copy!

The Paris Apartment will be a solid hit for fans of Lucy Foley. It grabs you from the beginning and the twists keep coming all throughout.

Good but not great. It took a while to get into this and I had no problem putting it down and getting away from it.

This is another good read by Lucy Foley - although different from the other two of her mysteries I've read.
As with her previous books, it took me a while to warm up to the characters - and even the most prominent characters remained pretty one-dimensional. However, it was an entertaining read.

Only when she gets to his surprisingly nice apartment, he’s not there, and won’t answer her calls and texts. The neighbors in the apartment complex soon become suspicious due to their strange behavior. Do they have something to do with Ben’s disappearance, and possible death? What secrets are hiding behind the attractive, polished exterior of this apartment?

As a whole, this book was just ok for me. What I loved about Lucy Foley’s last thriller, The Guest List, was the creepy atmosphere of the island that actually influenced events. I didn’t find the setting of this book to be particularly compelling. While there were some unexpected twists that worked well, it just wasn’t as creepy.

There is also a LOT going on in this book with the characters. I had a hard time keeping track of everyone’s past (they all seem to have various horrific events haunting them) and who knew which pieces of information when. The jumps in perspective and in time throughout the book sometimes made things confusing.

Twists I liked - that the apartment residents were a family, that the concierge was Mimi’s mother, and that the father was the one that had died. Pretty much all of the family members had a motive to hurt/kill Ben, so I wouldn’t have been surprised to find out if any one of them did it.

Welcome to a Paris Apartment in a posh area.. Inside resides a strange cast of characters, people you can’t imagine living together on the 4 floors containing 1 apartment at each level. There’s a trophy wife, angry alcoholic, older woman (concierge), a spurned lover and a naive sheltered young girl, plus Ben, a restaurant reviewer. Each short chapter brings a different viewpoint of Ben and the interactions between the other residents. Let the games begin when Jess, Bens sister, arrives and discovers blood in his apartment and Ben missing.

This is a locked in story with the house being a star performer, one that Foley utilizes exceptionally well. Every nook and cranny is featured adding to the mystery and suspense of this “group home.” There are spooky shadows, creaking floorboards and noises that wake you at night, all making you feel like the walls are closing in.

Lucy Foley has outdone herself. The reader is sucked into the apartment and the odd cast. Each time you think you have a clue to what happened and where Ben is, another mystery pops up. Who should you trust? Is anyone trustworthy? And the Paris location just adds to the intrigue with riots and turbulence happening in town. At 90% read, more twists and turns kept coming. I didn’t see them all adding to my “mind blown” statement.

I will be recommending this loudly to everyone I know. The Paris Apartment is a wild ride with secrets, lies, exploitation, underground clubs and interesting characters. It’s a MUST READ!

Will Jess find her brother Ben? I've thoroughly enjoyed Lucy Foley's other books and had high expectations for The Paris Apartment. It did not disappoint. Definitely recommend.

I did not finish the book, finding the action slow, the plot not evolvling and maybe a bit predictable. I may try to finish it at a later date.

An enjoyable and fast-paced mystery as Jess desperately tries to find any sign of what happened to her Brother.

Lucy Foley has really mastered writing a thriller from multiple perspectives. In The Paris Apartment, she does such a good job of disorienting the reader and keeping them guessing. Every piece of information she drops, is purposeful.
Jess has fled from her job after a nasty incident with her employer. She is going to stay with her brother Ben at his apartment in Paris. However, when Jess arrives Ben is no where to be found. She starts investigating what happened to her brother and manages to find much more than that.

DNF 65%. I tried to finish this book but I just couldn’t get into it. Multiple points of view with everyone a possible suspect. The characters felt a little one dimensional for me. It seems to have a great twisted ending based on many reviews but just not for me. I am sure there will be an audience for this popular author.
