Don't pass this by because you think it's about comic books. It is, yes but it's also a mystery and it's about becoming your own superhero. It's 1975 and Carmen thinks she's hit the jackpot when she gets a job - as a secretary- at Triumph Comics but it turns out no one wants to see or read her work except for Harvey. Harvey not only likes her stuff, they collaborate on the creation of Lethal Lynx, a female superhero. But Harvey steals Carmen's work and then--he's murdered. Carmen is determined to find his killer and that takes her into the heart of darkness she didn't know existed in the milieu she's always loved. I liked this most of all for Carmen, a unique heroine I rooted for but I also learned a lot about the business. There are layers here I didn't expect. And the comics! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Excellent read.
