Growing up, I often heard the saying "the truth will set you free". If only Pastor believed it. You will yell, sigh, shake your head and even cry. This emotion invoking book is on my list of favorites for 2021. It may trigger those who have experienced similar issues within the church. Keep reading, it's worth it.
I have very mixed reactions to J C Anderson's novel looking at dysfunctional families and churches. Some of the book borders on pornography, other parts are illustrative of God's grace toward very hurting people. The two pictures do not mix well; I have a difficult time recommending this author's attempt to blend these images. There may be an audience for which this book would be a good match, I cannot think of one. I give this book one-star.

Wow, this is a page turner. Anyone who has ever been to a church has met the people within these pages. People that are real, a sheep in wolf's clothing, judgmental, honest and just trying to do their best in life. I almost cannot call A Lie Doesn't Tell a Christian book due to a a few graphic sex scenes; however, the book is almost entiely set within the walls of a church.
This story did not turn out at all how I thought it would, but the ending is what would probably happen if this was a true story. I would love a second book to expand on the epilogue.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley.
