This is a delightful Amish romance!

Both Paul and Lisa are very well developed. I felt a lot of compassion for Lisa very quickly after meeting her. She had a lot of tragedy in her childhood and was still carrying the scars from it emotionally. I desperately wanted to see her work through the pain and move on with her life. Paul was also trying to move on from a painful situation. I enjoyed seeing how Paul and Lisa were able to develop a friendship and then use that to heal.

The plot of this story was wonderful. There was plenty of hardship and troubles that Lisa and Paul had to deal with that helped them grow. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how Lois and Orley Troyer, along with older family members, were able to support both of them and encourage them to trust God with what they were going through.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

The Sugarcreek Surprise is the second installment of the Creektown Discoveries series. Lisa Miller is an Amish school teacher with a tragic past. District newcomer Paul Herchberger soon sets his sights on her in spite of her shy demeanor. As Paul and Lisa grow closer his own past comes to light.

This is a sweet, Amish romance and can be read as a stand-alone. (I have not yet read the first book in the series.) The storyline is pretty typical for this genre. The characters are well developed and the author gives plenty of back story for each.

I do feel that the ending was rushed. I hope to see more of Lisa and Paul’s story carried over to the next book in the series.

I love that the author included recipes at the end of the book. The discussion questions are a helpful addition and are always appreciated when looking for material for book clubs.

I have pretty much read all of the books by this author. This book was a little bit slow to develop for me.

I really enjoyed seeing the characters of Orley and Lois that were in the previous book. The character Lisa was a little bit of a downer for me. She had her heart shut down to everyone because of the circumstances in her life and it made me find her difficult to enjoy.

Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Wonderful and sweet story! As a child, Lisa not only lost her parents, but she was the only survivor of an accident that took her parents as well as her grandparents. She was then sent to her other grandparents who raised her with much love. But Lisa doesn't allow herself to become close to anyone, in fear of losing that person also. Then a young man moves to her area named Paul. He seems nice, and she begins a simple friendship with him. But as time goes on, he realizes she is a girl he knew as a child that he used to tell her he was going to grow up and marry her. Lisa has very little memory of when she was a child before the accident, so she has no remembrance of him, so he keeps his memory of her as a secret. He speaks to her grandfather about it, and she overhears, which not only shocks her, but makes her angry with him for keeping this secret. Will their growing relationship be able to survive this? Great clean story I enjoyed reading!

I enjoyed the first book from Wanda E Brunstetter’s Creektown Discoveries, The Walnut Creek Wish. I was excited to have the opportunity to read the second installment, The Sugarcreek Surprise. It was great meeting up with Orley and Lois Troyer again. This time round they offer their help for Lisa and Paul. They are two broken souls who need to overcome tragic events. I thought Orley and Lois give some inspirational advice that is full of faith that so many of us could use in our own lives.

The Sugarcreek Surprise is getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean Amish Romance. I will be eagerly waiting for the third book from the Creektown Discoveries, The Apple Creek Announcement. I can not wait to get my hands on it.

I received a copy of The Sugarcreek Surprise from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

The second in the Creektown Discoveries is another sweet Amish story. I love the way the author adds tidbits of information about the Amish culture throughout the book. Lisa and Paul both have emotional baggage to sort through as they try to find happiness. Maggie was a great addition. Heartfelt book. Recommended!

The Sugarcreek Surprise is a powerful look at emotions and how they can cone to rule our lives. Lisa was a small child when she survived a horrific accident that took the lives of her parents, paternal grandparents and their driver. She goes to live with her maternal grandparents in Sugarcreek who she doesn’t know well. She withdraws into herself and vows never to care so deeply for someone again. She has no memory of her younger life. She is a shy adult who keeps to herself most of the time. When a stray dog attaches itsself to her she begins to feel more deeply again. Paul is suffering a hurt from the betrayal of his former girlfriend and moved from Indiana to Sugarcreek Ohio to work for his uncle as a carpenter. When he meets Lisa he feels drawn to her, but why? He keeps a secret that may destroy any chance they have at a relationship but spiritual guidance from mentors may be the healing balm.
I really loved this book. There is so much depth of emotion and feelings that comes through the lives of the characters. I have been to Sugarcreek and the surrounding area many times so the area and some places they went brought back happy memories. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys Amish stories.
I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Dear Caroline columnist Lois Troyer is busy reading and answering a new letter in this new offering in the Creek town series. A local grandmother seeks advice about her overly shy grown granddaughter who she fears is too lonely.

Schoolteacher Lisa has plans to stay secluded and never marry for her future. She has lost so much in her life, she can't bear to lose more. She works hard at her Amish school job and helping her maternal grandparents who she has lived with since her parents were killed. She stays to herself as much as possible and that is enough.
Paul is a carpenter who has moved to Sugarcreek since having his world turned upside down by his girlfriend. He vows never to love another woman in his lifetime. He meets Lisa one day when a stray dog is pestering her for attention. There is something strangely familiar about her which makes no sense as he has moved from out of state. Over time, with a great deal of prayer and matchmaking from a grandmother, the two just may become a couple.
This is another sweet story from Wanda Brunstetter featuring a couple who truly needs advice and prayer from several sources. The dog, Maggie is another special character along with family members and series favorites, Lois and Orley Troyer.
I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader's copy of the book. I am really looking forward to the next book which will feature the veterinarian who helped with Maggie. This is a good series.

This is the second book in the Creektown Discoveries series. This book can be read as a stand alone but it does help to read the first to get an idea of some of the characters.

Lisa, an Amish teacher, isn't sure she wants to be in a relationship with anyone since she lost her parents and a set of grandparents in a horrible accident. She thinks if she gets close to anyone else and then loses them, she will not be able to handle it. Paul, a cabinet maker, is getting over his last relationship and hopes a change of scenery will be just what he needs. Lisa's grandmother plays matchmaker with Lisa and Paul by inviting Paul to make cabinets for their kitchen and asking him to stay for dinner. After while, Lisa and Paul become friends and eventually feel an attraction to one another but Lisa still cannot get over the past and move on to other things in her life. Will Paul be able to help Lisa see what she could be missing out on?

I'm looking forward to reading the next in this series. If you are looking for sweet, Amish romances, Wanda's Brunstetter's books are the best!

I received an ARC from Barbour Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this second book in the new series. It's typical Wanda E. Brunstetter.style - which is never bad. Easily could be read as a stand alone, but I recommend the first book as well. Excited to learn there is a third book coming later this year, too!

Lisa is orphaned at a young age and moves from Shipshewana, IN to Ohio to live with her grandparents. She's a teacher at the local school and is pretty much a loner. She's learned not to get too attached to folks as they tend to leave. Her grandmother is getting more worried about her having a family. And then Paul shows up and they start to enjoy each other's company. The Troyer's, Orley and Lois, also make another appearance. Its like visiting old friends! I enjoy their guidance and friendship.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

This is the second book in this series. Lisa Miller is raised as a child by her Grandparents after her parents and grandparents were killed in a tragic accident. Lisa is afraid of loving and losing and becoming to close to others except her Grandparents. She is a Amish schoolteacher. Paul Herchberger. moves to Sugarcreek to help his Uncle Abe and get away from losing his girlfriend to his friend. When Lisa and Paul meet feelings start but Paul has a secret he is not telling Lisa. Will Lisa find love or will she not be able to except the secret Paul is holding from her. I loved this book. Some of the old characters are seen in the book to. Like the Troyer's; who own the Antique store.

This is book 2 in the Creektown Discoveries series by Wanda E. Brunstetter. We are taken back to Sugarcreek and Walnut Creek, Ohio and once again we meet up with Orley and Lois Troyer, who own an antique store. They were in the first book of the series and appeared to become mentors to the characters in that book. They once again take up that role in this book, but will their prayers and advice help Lisa and Paul?

Schoolteacher, Lisa Miller, meets the new guy in town, Paul Hershberger. Both are trying to overcome tragedies that have affected their lives. Through twists and turns in the book, the author shows us the scriptural aspect of being able to overcome fear and challenges in our life.

I enjoyed the book very much and recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading Amish books. I was given an advanced copy by Barbour Publishing and NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

A great sequel to The Walnut Creek Wish. Orley and Lois have a mentoring relationship with Paul and Lisa. Lisa is introverted around everyone due to a childhood tragedy in her life. She believes that she will not marry. Her heart is opened to love by a stray dog that steals her heart Paul wins her over little by little. When an unforeseen revelation is revealed, Lisa breaks things off with Paul? Will they get back together again? Does Lisa open her heart to love again?

The Sugarcreek Surprise is the second book of the Creektown Discoveries series. We meet up with Orley and Lois Troyer, the Amish antique store owners. Once again they are such great examples of Christian mentors. Always caring, advising and praying for others. Our two main characters are Lisa Miller and Paul Herchberger. Their friendship eventually becomes more than that. I must say my favorite character is Maggie the stray dog that Lisa and her grandparents adopt. I was brought to tears when Maggie was hurt and all the struggles she went through. I liked the story but felt the ending was rushed and anticlimactic. I want to thank Barbour Publishing through NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. The opinions in the review are my own.

In this second book of the Creektown Discoveries series, we are reconnected with Amish antique store owners and mentors Orley and Lois Troyer. Can their prayers and advice help schoolteacher Lisa Miller and carpenter Paul Herchberger come to terms with traumas from the past and find happiness? The characters in this book are well-developed and believable. You can feel their struggles. The plot is at times slow and repetitive, but the twists and surprises kept me reading. As always, Ms. Brunstetter gives interesting insight into the Amish lifestyle. What I appreciated most about the story is the strong faith element concerning letting go of worry and fear and trusting God for the future. A favorite quote: “Fear doesn’t stop death; it stops life. And worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles; it takes away today’s peace.” Although this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone. I recommend this book especially for fans of Amish fiction.
I received a copy of this book in e-book form from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This was an endearing Amish romance. A young woman scared to love again after a family loss and a young man skeptical after his previous relationship was ended.
The two get to know each other and with the help of some mentors, find their way to their happily ever after.

Another outstanding story from Wanda Brunstetter. She does an amazing job with the characters and describing their insecurities and fears and in some ways, most of us can relate in one way or another. Whether it is the devastation and loss of a loved one, a broken engagement, or how we handle situations to overcome tragedy. I also enjoyed revisiting with the Troyers in their antique store from the 1st book, The Walnut Creek Wish in the series. I appreciate how the love and patience of good friends is brought out in the storyline to show how it helps in overcoming obstacles that we face in life. I recommend this book for an enjoyable read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion and review.

Admittedly I wanted some relatively mindless reading, and clicked this one thinking it would let me kind of turn off my brain in a fun way - generally I don't know why I'm continually surprised that Amish Romance is a big thing, but it really is. This is such a weird book. I guess if you want very mild Christian romance this is great? It sincerely just felt very awkward, slow, and then there was a kind of out of nowhere illness sub plot unrelated to the main characters? This book is what it is.
