Fatal Passion is the first book of the Doc Holliday Mystery series by Loretta C. Rogers. The main character, Tullah Holliday, is a veterinarian in Enigma, Kentucky, a small town not far from Lexington. Her father is the county sheriff and her grandmother works for the local newspaper. This story begins with the town all turned out for a debate between the candidates for Mayor when the incumbent is found, by Tullah, dead in the ladies restroom. As the Mayor had a heart condition, her doctor determines that she died from natural causes. However, a few days later, Tullah stumbles on the body of the other mayoral candidate and an autopsy reveals that he was poisoned. Upon exhuming the first body, the same poison is found in her system as well.

In this book, the author has created a basis for a hopefully long series of mysteries . The character development is exceptional with focus not only paid to the primary individuals but also to other residents and organizations within the community giving the town a very well-rounded description and a plethora of both potential perpetrators as well as future victims. With the family and educational background of Tullah, I can only imagine what direction her future will take as the series continues to unfold.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Wild Rose Publishing in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I must admit this is the first time I have read this author, but was happily surprised by the way it pulled me in,
I started it before bed, never a good thing as I was awake all night as I had to find out how it ended. I really enjoyed how each character was built and evolved and how the story took some twists and turns. I eagerly await another book from Loretta C Rogers.
A special Thank You must go to NetGalley for the AC of this book.

Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, drama and a good who done it! This book is definitely worth reading, but was just ok for me? I guess my mind wandered a bit, the storyline was pretty interesting and I will recommend it, its worth reading just not one of my all time favorites! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
