Olivia is framed for trying to have her husband murdered and is sent to prison for 5 years. Her lover is no where to be found and her husband has a bagful of lies at the ready. When Olivia is let out of prison she is on a mission to prove her innocence and get her daughter back… will she survive the ride?

Sounds good right?? Well…. It wasn’t. I was completely let down!! This book is told from multiple POV which I like…normally…but, why is this told in first and third person in the different POV… it makes no sense and it gives the whole book a wonky feel. I didn’t enjoy that at all.

You also get EVERY SINGLE DETAIL there the colour of the lanyard, the colour of the tape on the key. There were unnecessary references to a person’s race, without context. Also when the taxi driver was speaking there was no reference to his race however his English was broken in the dialogue which came across as unnecessary and kind of racist if you ask me.

The story was was over the top and the ending was even more EXTRA. In the beginning you kind of get a bit of a view into Olivia in jail she seems like she has some scrap in her but when she gets out she is floundering around running from pillar to post to try and prove her innocence without having any rational thought. She has no common sense at all.

Dani is a crooked cop - and a PT WHY!!! That makes zero sense… she mentioned she doesn’t keep relationships due to the ridiculous hours she keeps at work but no worries can run a bunch of PT sessions in all her SPARE time… nope. Also she never actually seems to be at work in this book… just seemed unlikely to me and she was ANNOYING!!!

Dominic is a complete jerk, plays the part well but seemingly is keen to make a nice life for his daughter who he comes across as not giving two hoots about… the bullying she seemingly is either participating in or experiencing is dismissed by Dom but is never revisited so there are storyline’s galore that are never expanded so no resolution, which is weird because my hand was held every step of the way throughout the rest of the story.

There are so many storyline’s and characters that were not required - perhaps it was an attempt at ‘red herrings’ but for me it just messed with the story.

Overall the TWISTS that kept coming were annoying and nonsensical. This was not for me… I appreciate the opportunity to read before publish date but it did not hit the mark.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Publishing and the author for an advance copy for an honest review.

This is the second book by this author that I have read and I was not disappointed. Her style of writing has you wanting to read 'one more chapter', then before you know it you have finished the book.

In this book Olivia has been wrongly imprisoned for the attempted murder of her husband Dominic. Once released she intends on rebuilding her relationship with her daughter then discover why her husband lied. She needs helps from her friends, but who can she trust and what is Dominic hiding.

This is a fast paced psychological thriller that keeps the reader wanting more. It had me gripped even to the very last paragraph.
Excellent storyline and wonderfully written.

The plot and the twists have been tried and tested by many authors before in this genre that Ms Taylor’s writing doesn’t give any new perspective or dimension to it. Though she has written with a good pace it doesn’t make it really engrossing.

The Guilty Couple is an engaging page turning thriller. Olivia has just been released from prison having served 5 years for plotting to murder her husband, Completely innocent as she was set up by her husband and his mistress .
All she wants to do now is get her life back to normal, re engage with her daughter and to try find evidence to prove her innocence. I didn’t feel she had any grand plan, to start with she broke into her husbands house to snoop around to find any information, the rest really just fell into her hands, not by her planning but by the actions of the guilty parties. There were some surprising revelations and a couple of good twists I didn’t see coming.
I really did enjoy this book and although revenge was well served perhaps not quite as advertised.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

How far will she go to get what she wants.

My thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books Uk for a copy of “ The Guilty Couple” for an honest review.

At the moment I’m spoiled for choice with books to read and review , but some authors make you put their latest to the top of your list , C L Taylor being one of them.
Another very interesting and suspenseful book that kept me guessing until the end.
I must admit this isn’t my favourite book of hers , but that’s only because of the consistent standard of Cally Taylor’s previous work..If you enjoy this make sure you check out her earlier books.

Olivia has just been released from prison after serving 5 years for plotting to murder her husband. She’s been protesting that she was framed but no-one believes her. All she wants now is to be re-united with her young daughter and try to prove her innocence. But there are darker forces at work than she is aware of and she is left wondering just who she can trust.

A good tension filled story which keeps your attention until the end.

You know you’re on to a winner with this author’s novels and The Guilty Couple is no exception.

Five years ago Olivia Sutherland was wrongly convicted of plotting to murder. Now she’s free she has three goals: repair her relationship with her daughter; clear her name and bring down her husband - the man who framed her.

I found this book hard to put down. The plot is pacy with some great twists and turns and you are immediately drawn into the book. I would rate it 4.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.

Another wonderful book by C.L Taylor, definitely one of my favourite authors and again I have not been let down. As soon as I see a book from her I automatically purchase it.

Olivia has spent the last five years in goal convicted of plotting to murder her husband Dominique, this also means she has spent five years away from her beautiful daughter Grace who she loves so much. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. This story has it all, a great plot with twists that keep you engaged throughout. A brilliant set of characters that intensified the drama and kept me on the edge of my seat. This is another book that I read late into the night until finished it, a perfect story of revenged exceptionally well executed.

If you have not read any of this authors books you really should pick up one, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. Reading is all about escapism to me, and this wonderful book took me away from the real world for a few hours which I think we can all do with due to our very busy lives. Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Five stars!

I liked this but I didn't love it. The writing style was great as in all of C L Taylor's books, but the plot struggled to hold my interest.

The characters (apart from maybe Smithy) were a bit bland for me so I wasn't massively invested in what happened to them. I was interested enough to read until the end and there were times when I found myself enjoying it, just never to the point of 'wow'.

This is me just being picky, but early on Liv mentions a snarky comment her mother in law made on her wedding day about the flowers in the church but later in the book says that they eloped, so which was it?

Overall I thought the book was good, but I would recommend other C L Taylor novels such as The Lie and Sleep over this one.

Olivia has just spent 5 years in prison for the attempted murder of her ex husband. But she didn't do it and thinks he set her up. Now that she is out of jail, she wants to prove her innocence.

I usually like this author but I struggled a little with this one. I had a heard time getting into it and didn't really get engaged until close to the end. It wasn't bad, I just didn't connect with it like I have with other books.

Once again Taylor demands your attention. From the very first page you are gripped and the book is brilliant. Excellent characters Smithy was my favourite .The multiple story lines are well written. A great read

5 years ago, Olivia Sutherland was framed by her husband, Dominic, of plotting murder. She is now finally free and ready to clear her name. First order of business is to reconnect with her beloved daughter and second order of business is to take down Dominic! How far will Olivia go to get her revenge and what will it cost her?

C.L. Taylor has become an auto-buy author for me. I have enjoyed all of her books and THE GUILTY COUPLE is no exception. Combine a rapid pace story with a few different points of view and some really excellent twists…and you get a really great book! Highly recommended for thriller fans.

This book had me on the edge fo my seat, it was gripping and unpreductable with twists that had me questioning everything and guessing nothing. I loved it.

This is the most well-written and engaging book I've read in awhile.
The Guilty Couple kept me captive from the first page until the end.
I love how the suspense slowly builds and I would never have guessed the ending.
Lots of suspense, great characters that you can get invested in and a really psychologically twisted ending.
C.L. Taylor's writes with tension and revealing shocking facts which keep you desperately fixed to the page. This book is the perfect thriller.
So intriguing and super fast paced straight from the beginning. C.L. knows how to weave a great story and she's done it again in what is hands down her best work yet!
Highly recommend for fans of psychological thrillers.
