Mild enemies to lovers between a once nerdy cop and a workaholic. Guy in uniform? You can count me in. Pete is definitely an attractive police officer and Waverly unknowingly had a crush on Pete without noticing she knew him since childhood. What can make an interesting meet up if not for Waverly getting pulled over from driving off limit with pajamas on by a hot officer?

It's fun. It's good and it's not pressuring. Just what I want now when I'm in the middle of taking a break from stressing workload.

But I agree with other people mentioning this is not so rom com. It has humor in it but not too much to call rom com. And most of the time it is a serious matter we're dealing with. I was looking forward to going in deep  with minor backstory details but it touched the surface only. And I'm actually looking forward to more of Waverly and Clara's interaction above all.

Unfortunately, this book started promising and ended in the trash. It was a solid 4*star read, and then the last 40-30% annoyed me so much that I can't help myself, but give her 2* maximum (I even had a debate with my inner voice, if it even deserves 2*).

"Cop an attitude" is supposedly a romantic comedy between a policeman and a corporate girl. However, there is nothing romantic or even remotely funny in the entire book. There were literally no scenes of romance, and the only time the main characters got together was by the end of the book. Through the rest of the time, it was always pushing and pulling.

So plot wise, I didn't enjoy it. I did like the writing tho, and I think it was the only good thing that is in the book.

Characters:

Waverly - I hated that heroine. She was a workaholic, a bitch and a know-all. What I hated the most was that she was gaslighting the hero, and was mean to him through every meeting. <spoiler> bonus negative points for her being a bully, and her kissing her best friend's husband (without permission)</spoiler>

Pete - I liked him more than the heroine, but he wasn't standing out in any way, so there was nothing really I could love about him. What annoyed me, was that through the entire book he was made to look like a bad guy, but I don't think he ever did something wrong. <spoiler>He cared for his daughter, and it's absolutely normal to not want certain people near you kid, especially in such situations. </spoiler>

Overall, this is not a rom-com in any sense, and I wouldn't recommend it as such.

I would Cop an attitude any day of the week with this cast of characters. There was great chemistry and loved the interaction. Good read.

This book was a fun romantic comedy for the most part but I did have a few issues with it.
First, the main character Waverly, she was a little annoying in my opinion.
Second, the beginning of the book was rather slow which made it hard for me to get into but once it picked up I was hooked.
Third, the ending could have been a bit better, it just felt rushed to me.
Other than those few things, it was a great read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

Waverly and Pete have a history and when one night as the book opens Pete pulls Waverly over who he does not know at the time, he then drags out the traffic stop. he has her do the walk as if she had been drinking among other things. She still ends up getting a ticket for some violation that is off one day. Pete then later in the week shows up at her house giving her a ticket on a Sunday because the city just passed an ordinance with now gardening. It is like this for the first part of the story, Pete is really a jerk and is not giving police officers a good name. I will say she does kiss one of her friend's husbands to make him jealous but she does ask the husband first. It is not until they both end up at the high school reunion that he begins to change but again he messes that up as well.
His mom in this book is not a nice person and is some of his problems, as the two of them try to become a couple. His daughter though likes her as does his sister. As for the rest of the story, it is good. The characters are good and the ones that are her friends help out the story. I really wanted to give it more than three stars, but at times it just felt off for me.

This book is a RomCom in the new I Can’t Stop Loving You series.

Waverly Ensworth is a 38-year-old workaholic. I love the representation of woman in STEM. She is pulled over for speeding by a handsome police officer in New York. She gives him some attitude over her speed. Months later she is at her at 20th high school reunion. She can't seem to escape the sexy cop. But her to dismay she discovers that he is the boy she bullied in school.

Pete Ennis was bullied by kids in school due to his size. He is no longer small. Years later Pete is widowed with 4 year old daughter, and works for a small town police department. He was injured when he was with the NYPD so now spends his days dealing with "silly" complaints.

This is a sweet clean romance. It was funny and entertaining. I did have a bit of a hard time with the chemistry of the two. It wasn't the most believable. Walverly wasn't super likeable either. I still enjoyed the book but it needed more.

This book was good! Not my favorite, but it kept me interested, and unlike several others that I’ve read lately, I finished this one quite quickly. I liked the history the characters had; it made for an interesting relationship and character arcs. But I felt like a lot of the book was one of them being mean or rude to the other, then at the next encounter the roles were flipped. The whole book also felt like the first half of a book. The characters went from really spending not a whole lot of time together (when they did one of them was mean or mad) to the end where they said they were each in love with the other person. There was no real development from them at the beginning to them at the end, besides them kissing once. If the book had been cut down and pushed to half a book, the the next half was spent building their relationship, this book would’ve been fantastic. The history, along with Pete having a kid, could’ve been incredibly interesting to dive into. I just wish it had been more.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I struggle with a slow burn RomCom and unfortunately that fit the bill. It was hard to believe the chemistry between the two main characters and although, sometimes enjoyable, overall it was just okay for me.

This book was cute and I really enjoyed reading it. iF you're looking for cop mc with enemies to lovers trope and lot's of slow burn then I'd definitely recommend this to you. But the main problem for me was that I didn't get the chemistry between the MC and sometimes it was bit cringy and annoying.

This is the first book I've read by the author and it's an interesting, fun and quick read. There is an obvious attraction and chemistry between Waverly and Pete but they have a love-hate relationship. Even more so when Pete pulled her over. So they're usually avoiding each other. Definitely made for an entertaining story between them.

This is my first time reading something by this author and I really enjoyed it. I'm always on the lookout for a good rom com with a hate/love relationship and this one was just what I was looking for! Pete and Waverly had known each other since elementary school and they had a love/hate relationship. They went their separate ways after high school but meet again years later. He is now a cop and she is hard working and has a successful career. Their relationship doesn't necessarily get off on the right foot when she is out late driving and he pulls her over and hands her a ticket for speeding. Now it seems they are constantly bumping into each other. They both prefer to steer clear of each other, but can't stop thinking about one another. I found this to be a thoroughly entertaining and cute story and am glad I had the opportunity to read it.

She is pulled over for speeding by a handsome police officer at 3am and gives him some attitude because she was only 8 miles per hour over the limit. Months later, at their 20th high school reunion, she discovers that he is the boy she nicknamed “Penis” when she was 6 years old.

Pete Ennis was a small boy but hit a growth spurt after he graduated from high school. Unfortunately he was pretty much friendless and bullied by the popular kids due to his moniker and size. Now Pete is widowed with a cute four-year-old daughter and works for the Pebble Cove Police Department. He was injured on the job with the NYPD and now spends his days dealing with citizens’ ridiculous complaints.

I thought the book was well-written. It was nice to see a STEM heroine and people of color with professional careers. The nosy neighbor, Mrs. Monroe, added extra humor to the story. The pacing and dialogue were good.

First off, thank you to net galley for providing me with an arc copy!! I did read this book weeks ago but haven’t written the review until now. If I could I would recount the whole book and explain all the things I loved about it however I will just say I was enthralled from start to finish. The female mc was someone I loved and the male mc was cringey at times but overall I adored them both. The writer clearly created an amazing chemistry between the characters.

Despite this there were a few small issues here and there in terms of what I would consider romantic and what caused second hand embarrassment but nothing you wouldn’t find in any book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely and I’m super excited for the next in the series.

Review: Cop with an Attitude doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. The characters are far from likeable mainly annoying. The romance moves quickly because the characters knew each other as children but not as adults. The making male characters jealous felt like it came out of left field and not needed to advance the story. Hilary Grossman could have used someone else anyone else but she choose her the female leads best friends husband. Throwing off the already slow story.

The story lacked any emotional connection between the characters leaving the story flat and not nearly as funny as the author wants you to think.

*3.75 stars* it was a good book with dual POV. But, I felt like the relationship between the hero and heroine moved too slow. Moreover, the ending of this book ended quite fast. All in all, it was a quick read book for me 📖

If you are looking for a great and fast romantic read then look no further than Cop An Attitude by Hilary Grossman. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. I couldn’t put it down, it grabbed me from the very first page. The author named this story perfectly, because both main characters have a bit of an attitude problem with each other for most of the story. I loved Waverly and Pete’s characters so much. Their interactions were extremely entertaining, and had me laughing out loud a couple of times. They were both a bit juvenile at times, but nobody is perfect and it made them more relatable because of their imperfections. Will they be able to put the past behind them and give them a chance at a future together? Read Cop An Attitude to find out. This is the first in a new series by Hilary Grossman and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. I highly recommend this story to any romance lover out there.
