This book is a lovely early chapter book. While the fantasy elements make it fun to read, the overall message is a great takeaway for readers.

My kids (ages 7 and 9) LOVED this and are asking for more. My spouse and I are big D&D nerds and are just starting to ease the kids into playing, so this was a fun way to sort of bridge those two worlds.

I think this is a great book to get kids that are interested in Dungeons and Dragons acquainted with the world. Having all of the characters be kids at school is a relatable way to encourage kids to engage with the D&D style content. I think that the plot twist was good, I was surprised by it, which is always delightful as a reader. My only critique is that some of the writing felt a bit robotic and some of the dialogue didn't read very smooth. Overall, I will definitely recommend this title to kids that are looking to get involved with high fantasy roleplay.

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this book. This is a great chapter book for young readers set in the Dungeons and Dragons world. I liked the diversity of characters and especially liked the inclusion of the encouraging words read section at the end of each chapter.

Cute children's story is set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, This story follows Zelli and her struggle with the bullies in the dungeon academy. Each chapter features many beautiful illustrations showing off the various creatures in the world. The story centers around friendship and doing what is right. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I can see a kid really liking it. For me as a D&D fan, I thought it was neat as well, a great way to introduce a young kid into the world of D&D without it being scary, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone come up with an adventure module set in this more friendly world.

This was a really fun and cute, early reading book for kids with nerdy parents! I loved the story, the Lgbtq and bipoc representing and how the characters develop. I also liked the word count at the end of each chapter, which is great for classroom learning as well. Some of the writing was a bit clunky, but that's expected for a children's book. Overall this is a great book for kids!

Reviewed from a Netgalley ARC.

This book follows a human girl named Zelli, who is in disguise at the Dungeon Academy. Zelli wants to help monsters who are being picked on.

This was an early chapter book about the importance of relying on your friends and standing up for what you believe in. I loved the inclusion of all the different Dungeons & Dragons creatures and how each one was explained for any kids that aren’t familiar. I also LOVED the illustrations a ton.

Overall, I think it was an excellent chapter book with a solid message. Would definitely recommend for children with an interest in D&D or fantasy in general.

D&D is my jam and I am so happy to see such diverse and different novels and books coming out to celebrate the game and the worlds it builds. I loved that this one was made for elementary school kids! I would rate this one a 2nd-5th grade read.

Zelli is an undercover human at the "villains" side of the D&D game: the dungeons academy. She was adopted by two Minotaur moms (one of whom works at her school as a PE coach). Disguised as a Minotaur, Zelli navigates school, friendships with students who are a little different like her and of, course bullies. And as everyone knows, goblins are the biggest bullies of them all. Hence the title: A Goblin Problem.

What I loved: the illustrations were colorful, diverse and whimsical, the characters were more than just stereotypes of each character race, and the world building was quick and lovely, the themes for kids were powerful and inspiring.

Oh my goodness, this is such a cute and wholesome book! It's absolutely perfect for It is both a fantastically alternative way to teach of important things as well as serving as a great intro for kids to Dungeons & Dragons (and other TTRPGs!). The art is so adorable, the characters are heartwarming, and there are so many elements woven organically into the story, it's really impressive for a children's book. I love so much the representation made by Zelli's minotaur moms, and I love that Zelli herself is a person of color. I love that the book addresses that bullying comes from a place of cowardice, that intelligence is just as important as physical strength, that you can tell that you're not doing the right thing if you feel worms in your stomach. I love that Zelli is loved by her adoptive moms of a totally different species. I love that Bauble's pronouns are "they/their". I love the various familiar D&D monsters in their various roles at the academy (it's going to be harder to kill them in games from now on!) The inclusion of all of that is great, but best of all at its heart, this book is about a young girl who's struggling to fit in and do the right thing. It's a heartwarming tale of friendship that deserves a place at any child's bookshelf. Bauble's encouraging messages at the end of each chapter is a really nice touch.

A cute story set in the DnD universe about not beling alone. Zelli is known for standing up to bullies. When she gets a request from a goblin for help, she is determined to help, but all by herself. Despite her friends saying they will help, Zelli sets out alone and soon founds herself in over her head. Luckily her friends show up to the save the day!

I loved the DnD academy this was set in and all the classes they had to take. The writing style wasn't my favorite, but it was still an enjoyable story!

This was a fairly simple story about relying on friends and standing up against bullies. This would be a good read for younger kids who have some interest in dungeons and dragons. I hadn’t heard of the Dungeon Academy series before, so I didn’t know what to expect going into this, I liked the illustrations, and actually wished there were even more!

It is an amazing book and my niece loved the story as we read it together. She even asked if there were more of them that we could read and I will definitely be getting her any.

A Goblin Problem is a new book in the Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Academy series. Zelli, an adopted minotaur with a big secret, is becoming known at the academy for being someone who helps other monsters, which is taboo.

This MG book is perfect for addressing bullying and that tickly-tummy feeling you get when you see something isn't right.

Can't wait to order it for the school library!
