Ghost of a Promise is the first book in the Phantoms trilogy and is by the way one of the best stories in the paranormal romance genre that I have read this year.
Ava Trumble inherits the haunted family mansion on the condition that within a year she must solve the mystery of Sarah Kerrick's disappearance, otherwise the mansion will become the property of the Town Historical Society. To complicate matters, the crime occurred more than two centuries ago.
To help her solve the mystery and preserve her heritage, Ava enlists the help of a team of paranormal investigators who have a TV show featuring her cases called Phantoms. Yes, that's where the name of the series comes from...
As soon as the group arrives, things start to get interesting. Romance, ghosts, a family curse and a mystery to solve in a year's time... what more could you ask for?
Kelly Moran brings us a magnificent love story with a setting so well achieved that sometimes you can hear the creak of the wood and the slam of the doors. I highly recommend it!
I thank the author, publishers, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book, and declare that the opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think of this book.

I knew when I started this book that I was getting into a paranormal romance. What I didn’t know was that the romance part would eat more than half of the book and that I would have to read about one of the horniest men in literature.

Judging by the premise, this book should have been perfect for me. A haunted house? A centuries old mystery? A romance? I should have loved this. But I can’t enjoy a book where the male character has constant erections, a ridiculous fake English accent and there’s a female counterpart who decides to hate him just because of who he is, or who she thinks he is.
There may not be an insta love situation, but there’s insta lust and I find that so much worse.

In regards to the paranormal elements, they were well presented and there was enough activity but nothing chilling or scary. I like paranormal books to give me goosebumps, to make me feel tense and expectant. Unfortunately, that happened only once throughout the entire read. On top of that, the way the book was written sometimes felt like a transcript and not prose, which definitely hindered my enjoyment.

As for the plot and its development, I never connected with the story. Whenever something historical or explanatory was happening, my attention wasn’t there. I guess the pacing was fine, but I had issues getting through this book because of the mistakes strewn around, such as typos or missing words, and the constant reminder of the male protagonist’s arousal.

Towards the end, the book did sort of shift and it became more romantic than smutty and it wrapped up with a nice little bow. At least the ending I did like.

It’s been a while since I read a paranormal romance book that I disliked this much. Between my lack of interest in the story and my annoyance at the many mentions of certain masculine body part, I unfortunately did not enjoy this book.

This is the first in the Phantoms trilogy, but after my experience with this first installment, I must admit I have no interest in reading the following books.

Ava dreams of turning the family home into a bed and breakfast. The ghosts in her house however, have other plans. In order to make her dreams a reality, Ava invites paranormal investigators to the estate to solve a generations old mystery. When their lead investigator turns out to be related to one of the ghosts - everything becomes much more active than anticipated.

I really enjoyed this novel. There was a good blend of mystery and paranormal elements. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Whoa! What a ride. It was very fast-paced. The writing style kept me hooked and I didn't find myself losing any interest. I enjoyed getting to know each of the characters and how real the story felt. The author did a great job painting the setting, so it was easy for me to visualize the scene played out before me. I recommend giving this one a chance!

If you are in the mood for a low angst, steamy romance set in a haunted house this is the book for you.

Ghost of a Promise is set in a small Maine town with a haunted mansion that scares everyone away. A centuries old mystery must be solved so the new owner, Ava Trumble, can accomplish her dream of converting it into a B&B. She enlists the aid of Jackson Granger and his team of paranormal investigators to unearth the truth and set free the spirits that are haunting the site.

Kelly Moran’s writing was brilliant. The story had a nice flow that kept me engaged in the story until the very end. I loved all the characters and look forward to continuing this series to keep up with this team of ghost hunters.

Ava’s aunt died and left a house that has ghost and a mystery to solve. She calls Phantoms – tv Paranormal investigations group of ghost hunters. This book started off exciting and kept it going thru out the whole story. It had so many twists and turns and ghost antics. I was entertained. Ava needs to solve the mystery of what happened to a relative Sarah Kerrick over 230 years old. Jackson leads the ghost hunters and falls for Ava but struggles in the relationship but gets ghostly intervention. The secondary characters really added to the story and kept you interested and captivated on what going to happen next. Book kept a smile on my face. I didn’t want to stop reading and can’t wait for the next from this author. I recommend this book for anyone and especially those who love paranormal genre. I will look forward to reading other books from her.

Fans of paranormal investigation shows will love Ghost of a Promise.

The book is prefaced with a list of ghost hunting tech terms and that’s when avid watchers of paranormal tv, such as myself, get the first inkling this is going to be good. And it was.

The Trumble family estate is over 200 years old and is well-known in the small coastal town of Kerrick for it’s tragic history of death and sadness dating all the way back to it’s first owners. Ava Trumble has always loved her family home and has big plans when she inherits to turn it into a historic bed & breakfast. But her inheritance comes with a stipulation – she has one year to uncover the mystery of the very first tragedy to befall the home some 230 years ago: the disappearance of Sarah Kerrick, who was set to marry the Trumble heir before they had a falling out and she was never heard from again. With no physical evidence outside of a house filled with ghosts, Ava turns to a team of ghost hunters for help.

Jackson Granger, host and lead investigator for the tv show Phantoms, is used to all kinds of unusual experiences in his five year career searching for and documenting the paranormal, what he’s not used to is the sudden and intense feelings of attraction and home he feels when he comes to the Trumble estate and meets Ava. Is it the house or the woman making him feel this way? (spoiler: it’s a little of both).

You can really tell the author knows her stuff when it comes to paranormal investigations and she does a fantastic job of blending that in with the unfolding romance between Ava and Jackson in a compelling way that kept me hooked. I found myself equally as absorbed with the ongoing paranormal investigation as I was by the steamy romance between Ava and Jackson. As someone obsessed with ghost hunting shows, I can say the paranormal team and the investigation scenes come of as really authentic in this (except I wish more ghost hunting shows captured this much evidence, those Trumble spirits are active).

How much did I love this book? I’m already reading the next book in the series and adding the third book next on my TBR list because I loved it so much. There’s only three books in the trilogy, but if there were more I’d read those too.

I enjoyed this book so much! The premise was a lot of fun, focusing on a group of paranormal investigators with a hit tv show. The characters were all interesting and the two leads and their romance were so compelling. I couldn’t put the book down — and was sorry it was over. I’m so glad this will be a series, since I’m already eager to get back to the team and their investigations. Highly recommended.

I'm an avid romance reader and I love watching show about ghost hunters. So this book is a win win. It also takes place in Maine next to the ocean! Moran's writing is straightforward and clear. Which makes it so easy to follow the characters, their lives and also the investigating work. I really enjoyed the lead characters of Ava and Jackson. Instant attraction and very slow burn. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to read about a haunted house. It builds in intensity but not too scary for before bed reading.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own,

Ghost of A Promise is the first book in the Phantoms series by Kelly Moran. The haunting lore of her family's estate on the coast of Maine never bothered Ava Trumble. Truly, the big ole house seems less lonely with a ghost or two. However, when it finally becomes her time to inherit the elaborate mansion on the bluffs, the deed comes with a shocking ultimatum. She has exactly one year to solve the two-hundred-year-old mystery of the disappearance of a girl that has always plagued their town, or her dreams and the property will wind up in the hands of the Historical Society. As the lead investigator for the hit paranormal TV show Phantoms, Jackson Granger is prepared for any metaphysical encounter. Until now. It's not just the uncanny sense of "coming home" since getting his team inside Trumble Mansion or even his reaction to the fiery redhead owner who seems to consume his every waking thought. No, it's that, as the investigation unfolds, the ghosts are using Jackson and Ava's attraction to play out a centuries-old tragedy. Now, Jackson and Ava must determine if they're sharing something real...or if they've merely been possessed by a love that never died.

Ghost of A Promise strikes a good balance of mystery, ghosts, and romance. The house's history is just as important to the story as Ava and Jackson. It was engaging to get to know the two characters, the story of the house, and the ghost hunting crew as they worked together to capture evidence and figure out what happened to Sarah. I think the interactions between Ava and Jackson were so interesting because of the equal level of trust and defensiveness that they both displayed. It made for a get push and pull between them, and I think resulted in a stronger connection in the long run. I really enjoyed the ghostly and mystery aspects as well. I thought the book hit some very tense moments, but never hit on truly scary moments, which is just about the level of fear I can handle reading right now. I also love that the romance was not in vacuum, friends and family played the part- highlighting the issues each had and getting readers to care about the entire cast of characters, not just the two main players. I am very much looking forward to reading the second book in the series- in fact I already have it downloaded on my kindle.

Ghost of A Promise is a wonderful start to a series that promises romance and ghostly mysteries.

Such an engaging ghost story! This had a compelling mystery and wonderful characters.

Ava lives in a mansion that is over 200 years old, passed down over many generations. She needs to solve a family mystery in order to inherit it. In order to do so, she needs the help of a group of ghost hunters, led by the super hot Jackson Granger.

The ghosthunting tools and techniques felt authentic enough, and the team felt fleshed out. I really enjoyed that aspect as much as the romance.

Ava and Jackson had great chemistry. I didn't feel as much of the antagonizing that seemed to be implied, but that didn't make me like it any less.

I look forward to the next book in the series!

I’ve been looking for a book like this for awhile, and just managed to trip over this on NetGalley.

Ava inherits her family home from her great aunt, a home that is possibly cursed and haunted by the ghosts of their ancestors. There is one stipulation to her getting the house, she has to solve the mystery of a death on the property that happened over a century ago. I was drawn into Ava’s plight and how she just wanted to fulfil her dream of turning the old house into a bed and breakfast.

As a last ditch effort she calls in a paranormal group/ show to investigate the house and hopefully find some answers. As Jackson and his crew investigate things get kinda weird, especially after it comes out that Jackson is distantly related to the victim. As the investigation goes on the attraction between Ava and Jackson grows. The sexual tension between these two is intense. Yet I was pulled in and kept reading to find out if it was genuine or due to the spirits.

The mystery paired with the relationship between Jackson and Ava kept me reading. The plot was well done dropping hints and offering clues for both the readers and investigators. I found myself engaged and wanting to know more about the whole team, not just Ava and Jackson.

All Ava has ever wanted is to live in Trumble Mansion but her great aunt has put a condition in her will. Ava will need to solve a mystery that goes back generations if she can’t she will lose the house. Ava only has a year to find out what happened to Sarah Kerrick. She has no choice but to call in the experts.
Jackson Granger is part of a TV show Phantoms. The team goes into situations to find out if they are caused by paranormal activity.
Jackson is in deep as soon as he sees Ava he feels like he has found his home. He has never found that place so why now?
Can the team help Ava find out what happened to Sarah? Who killed her, her father or Peter Trumble her husband to be?
Will Ava be able to stop herself from falling for Jackson? Or will she find the person that she is meant to start a family with? Jackson knows that he can’t push too hard as he doesn’t want to lose Ava but he knows that they are meant to be together.
Can they solve the mystery about the ghostly inhabitants for good?
A great read really enjoyed it.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Ava Trumble was born and raised in Kerrick, Maine. Her great aunt recently died and left her mansion to Ava, provided that Ava could provide some definite proof about the town's most famous missing person, assumed to be a resident ghost. This mansion is so well known in town that Ava's own parents will not visit it, and her bravest friend is sure to leave before sundown. The mansion itself has a history that does not lend to close relationships and happy endings.

Not knowing what else to do, Ava calls in a tv paranormal chasing crew.
Jackson Granger is the lead ghost buster. He has lived his lived on the road, being shuttled between his parents as a child and most recently from location to location filming tv show episodes.
He has no experience or desire for restrictive relationships.

When Ava and Jackson meet and spend time together in the mansion, you can expect tons of energy for the ghosts to feed off of. The tension is high for many reasons. Sparks literally do fly - and several of the men do as well.

Whether you enjoy a rough road romantic tale or a good ghost story, this will satisfy your cravings.
Can they help the ghosts? Solve the mystery? Save Ava's mansion? Ever get her parents to visit?
What will happen to the ghost chasing crew now that their contract is up?

Written with sensual tension and great descriptive quality, this is the perfect beginning to an intriguing series.
