I enjoyed The Last to Vanish for its moody, atmospheric setting and the sense of quiet unease that builds throughout the story. Megan Miranda does a great job capturing the small-town tension and the feeling that something just isn’t quite right. The mountain town of Cutter’s Pass, with its history of disappearances, definitely kept me curious.
I liked how the mystery unfolded gradually and how the protagonist, Abby, slowly began to question what she thought she knew. There were moments when I genuinely wasn’t sure who to trust, which made the book feel suspenseful even when the action moved slowly.
Overall, it’s a good choice if you like character-driven thrillers with a strong sense of place. While it didn’t fully wow me, I appreciated the quiet tension and thoughtful unraveling of the mystery.

I enjoyed how skilled the author is in building tension in this book. It was a lot less of a typical whodunnit and more of this slow unraveling of secrets that had built up over the years. I really liked how Abby went from outsider to insider to outsider again and the towns dynamics. I do wish that more had been explored about the first disappearance but I liked the story.

I'm on a quest to read Megan Miranda's entire backlist (minus her YA novels which I'm not interested in) which is why I picked this book up from the library. This was an interesting reading experience. The premise of this book had me intrigued from the beginning. What was going on with this town that so many people were going missing throughout the years and why? I needed to know. In actuality, the book felt a bit slow at times while I was reading with not much happening (this feels wrong to say as I usually really enjoy slow burns). Honestly I think that it just felt a bit repetitive with Abby talking about how she will still a bit of an outsider to the town even after living there for so many years over and over. I should have known though. Megan Miranda always seems to have that one twist that is completely unexpected and just slaps. And while I'm still not sure that I entirely loved the ending, it was yet another solid read from her. Just maybe not my personal favorite of hers in comparison to everything else that I've read so far. I'm actually really curious to hear other readers thoughts on this one.
Readers who enjoy mysteries or suspenseful reads should give this one a try. If you enjoyed Murder Town by Shelley Burr then you might also enjoy this one. Overall, I'm landing on four stars.

Absolutely loved this thriller! Had me captivated the whole way through! Everything from the plot to the characters. I’ll be picking up more books by this author asap!

Not my favorite read by this author. The pacing felt dreadfully slow, with not much suspense forming. Sadly, I was underwhelmed.

This book was a very slow burn. It took a long time for something to happen and then when it did it wasn't all that earth shattering. I didn't hate it but also wasn't floored. I'm a Miranda fan so I'll continue to read her but this one was just okay for me.

Review to come, I accidentally got this one and didn’t download before archive. Will read and update

I have tried listening to this and eyeball reading this and it unfortunately just wasn't for me at this time. I couldn't connect to the characters or the narrators.

A journalist who is investigating a string of disappearance goes missing herself. Secrets are relived and you find out who you can trust. I enjoyed it, but not as much as her others.

Excellent mystery. I loved the premise and the surprises throughout. Great character building and plot development.

I was quiet surprised with this book. I haven't read anything by the author but wow. I couldn't out the book down once I started it. I know I am late to the part but I felt it was well written kept my attention and had some twists that I was like well that wasn't what I expected.

I love Megan Miranda's books and this is no different. I was hooked from page one and kept turning the pages until I was done. If you're a thriller reader, I definitely recommend this one.

A great Little read. It was a bit more thrilling than I ever expected. A complicated mystery that will keep the reader thinking. Slow start, but it builds into some thing interesting and thought provoking. Makes you think twice about going to all these little towns where you just wanna hike and being nature and you wonder about the people who live here constantly while yours just here to visit. I’ve had these thoughts in the past and now someone wrote a book about it. I found that really freaky.

I really enjoyed this title. The setting was great and the characters were really well developed. The author did a great job making it hard for the reader to see what was coming next or to know who to suspect. Thank you to netgalley and Scribner for the arc.

Cutter’s Pass is a small town where the locals all stick together, and some visitors disappear without a trace. This is an interesting mystery with plenty of twists, turns and red herrings.
I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Thank you NetGalley, Megan Miranda and Scribner for this advanced copy.

Thank you for allowing me to read this book. I enjoyed the characters and their arcs, and found the plot interesting. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Megan Miranda can do no wrong, Her books always keep me on the edge of my seat and this one was no exception. Another great one!

In the Last to Vanish, we are given Abby's first person point of view only. She's spent a decade at Cutter's Pass, a hiking area where 7 people have vanished in the past 25 years. Four hikers initially disappeared and then three separate people have followed. Is the area just unlucky? Is there something sinister going on?
Abby works as the Inn where the people that have disappeared and starts investigating the disappearances herself. We all know this is never a good idea...
The book is interesting enough but there are too many loose ends and things that just aren't explained. There are twists (many that are unpredictable) but they just don't make sense with the story. I'm not giving anything away, but there are a lot of things that make you go... huh? Why was this....?
I wanted to keep reading but the ending was a bit unsatisfying.

While I do fear that Megan Miranda's writing has gotten a little formulaic for me -- her books are starting to all blend together a bit -- as I'm reading them, I'm always fully immersed and quickly turning pages, which is usually exactly what I"m looking for when I pick up a Megan Miranda book. Those who are new to Megan Miranda will like this, as well as fans of hers.

I started listening to this on audiobook and the audiobook narrator is not my favorite. But the text itself is engaging- a slow burn until you get
To the end of part one and then to goes quickly and nicely. Another good thriller from Megan Miranda!
