Amazing pictures to look at and a variety of recipes. Tried the DIY boba adventure and I will now be making my own boba vs. getting it from the store. 10/10 will try more recipes and will get a physical copy .

I am not overly familiar with Asian baked flavors, other than mochi donuts, and was excited to dive into Kat Lieu's Modern Asian Baking at Home. Lieu captures a wide away of savory, sweet, complex, and simple recipes in this cookbook. The recipe that has caught my eye the most is the Korean Garlicky Cream Cheese Milk Bread Buns and I am salivating over how yummy the accompanying photo makes these buns look! You will not be disappointed if you pick up this cookbook. Within these pages you are sure to find decadent recipes and guidance to bring them to fruition in your own kitchen. This cookbook is a must addition for every library.

As a hobby baker who's addicted to watching the Great British Baking Show and ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the baking ingredients at my local Asian grocery store, I had high hopes for this cookbook to advancing my baking skills. After viewing all the recipes and making the staple Milk Bread recipe, I'm in LOVE with this cookbook! It was incredibly helpful, informative, and easy to read. This is a classic that sits on my bookshelf in my kitchen for years to come!

Thank you NetGalley and Quarry Books for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I loved this cookbook! The different recipes I found and made brought back childhood memories of cooking with my Uma. Being able to share some of my culture with my own family and friends is amazing and I'm grateful for the chance to review this cookbook early.

The recipes where easy to understand and follow along!

This book was such a great find! Loved the sense of community that was generated with this book. Lots of recipes that I wanted to learn how to make since they’re bakes that I grew up with! Thoroughly enjoyed.

I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet but I will eventually l.
This is a great cookbook. Recipes are easy to follow even for a beginner like myself.

Unfortunately because I live a a town that doesn’t have much international foods and ingredients in grocery stores so some of the recipes I can not try .

I do recommend the book though.

Really loved the aesthetic of this cookbook. The images were beautiful and the instructions easy to follow. All of the recipes sounded delicious and I wanted to try them all.
Easily a book I would get excited about and buy if I saw it on a store shelf.
I tried a few of the recopies and was very satisfied for the most part, one definitely didn’t turn out ( the pancake one) but I will give it another try.
Thank you for the advanced copy.

I love all the milk bread recipes, the five spice cinnamon buns sound absolutely delicious. A little too much matcha for me but I realize that's an unpopular opinion for an Asian baking book. Will definitely be trying more recipes and recommending to friends and patrons!

I sincerely looked forward to reading this as a member of the Subtle Asian Baking group on Facebook. Kat Lieu really put her all into this book to shine the spotlight on Asian baking - not only in the food itself, but in all the techniques from the various regions of Asia. The descriptions in the book are friendly to the most amateur of bakers and each recipe had its own story and image to it. Modern Asian Baking at Home is a cozy read, feeling like a family cookbook with how personal each and every page pours out a love for sharing food with others.

What a great book! Simple to follow recipes that offer alternatives to some of my favorite previously made items. The book is not overwhelming with choice, and is well laid out with beautiful photos. I was so excited for one of my favorite flavors, ube, to be included, and will be making these on rotation! Thank you for an advance copy of this book - I will be buying a copy for my shelf!

This book came out shortly after another asian baking book (mooncakes and milkbread)... so its hard not to compare them. Being so similar, I preferred the recipe choices in the other book. This book could use more savory recipes.. and honestly... it seems lackluster after perusing the other book

Any fan of Asian cuisine needs this cookbook in their pantry! This cookbook contains an array of recipes, spanning from cakes and sweets to breads and more. Fans of both sweet and savory flavors will find something they love in this book. Lieu includes a variety of traditional recipes, as well as modern spins on classics and fun new recipes utilizing traditional ingredients. Flipping through this book alone is enough to make your mouth water, and when you finally get to making the recipes, they do not disappoint. Every recipe I have tried has been a hit, and I know I will return to this book again and again.

Pick up this book for the pictures at the very least!

Pros:
* Cute intros to each recipe.
* Gorgeous pictures
* Easily written recipes.
* Well explained & substitutions given.

Negative:
* Not all ingredients are easy to find at a small town grocery store. (So you’ll have to plan ahead to order ingredients online)

I’m really grasping to find negatives because this book is great.

This is a wonderful book with a variety of recipes and beautiful photos for each. The directions are simple to follow, and even though I only tried two recipes so far, everything looks so delicious and I'm certain I'd come back to it to try the other recipes as well.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publiher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! I've tried some recipes but not all of them worked for me. It is an amazing book if you've always dreamed about trying easy, simple Asian baking recipes. I really liked it and I will try to get a copy as soon as possible. Thanks again.

I don't have a lot of knowledge on Asian baking, so I found this book really helpful! It has beautiful photography, clean presentation and many straightforward, mouthwatering recipes (some savory recipes in there too). I really enjoyed the inclusion of drinks and holiday bakes! In my opinion the book is a bit short, but I don't really mind that and it didn't stop me from enjoying reading it. Overall a really good book and a great addition to the collection of home bakers interested in modern Asian baking.

This book is amazing starting from a beautiful cover to a variety of different recipes. As an amateur in Asian (not only modern) cooking, I was thankful for explanation of different ingredients and techniques. Short but cute stories precedes each recipe, stunning and mouth watering pictures, the mention of other Subtile Asian Baking (SUB) cooks with their instagram nicknames and the list goes on and on. I believe the print version of this book would not only look great in the kitchen but would look astonishing on a coffee table.
