Carlos and Alexa have always been very influential in my life. I’ve followed their careers over the years as well as their YouTube channel. Being a Christian, it’s so hard to find celebrities that share the same values, morals and life goals as I do. And then there was the PenaVegas. I knew quite a bit about them from watching and reading about them, but this book has given such deep insight into who they really are and why.
From Carlos sharing his testimony, which brought actual tears of happiness to my eyes to Alexa sharing her relationship issues with her family and her experiences with an eating disorder, they are true to themselves and who they are with God guiding them.
They truly put God first in their lives and in every decision they make. One big thing about the PenaVegas is that if God isn’t in it, they aren’t either.
Making their faith the focus is such an inspiration to me. I love how open and honest they are in this book and sharing how even through all the hard times, God is still their number one.
I love the back and forth in each chapter of who is telling their stories.
Carlos and Alexa have such a beautiful family and making God the focal point made me want to read this book even more.

I finally got a chance to finish this. I thought it was a great way to learn about both Carlos & Alexa's lives both before and after they knew Jesus and each other. I loved getting insight into their careers and past relationships. I also liked hearing of their journeys to really knowing God. I love how they continue to prioritize God and make it clear in this book.
I do think that it felt like a while to get to the title of the book, with love being "the point". I also think possibly there are some things here that felt oversimplified... not to invalidate any individual experiences, but I think it's important to note that with something like an eating disorder, for most it probably requires seeking medical help to get into recovery. While Alexa does encourage people suffering to not keep the problem hidden, I feel like you're left with the notion that if you are very strong in your prayer and faith and open about your eating disorder that it can just literally go away overnight like it did for her. Again, not to invalidate her story, but I think it can usually take more than that for others and there was no mention or encouragement to seek any treatment services for those struggling.
Still I like the sentiments that they had about God and maintaining a good and strong relationship with Jesus. I think they did a good job getting their points across with their testimonies.

Being a fan of pop culture, and a Christian, I was eager to pick up "What if Love is the Point?", I thoroughly enjoyed hearing from both Carlos and Alexa's point of view, to see the ways in which their stories intersected and brought them together.

The behind-the-scenes peek into their experiences in the entertainment industry, coupled with the context of their love story and their commitment to living a life that honors God, all made this a book that I was delighted to read.

The book was an easy read and entertaining. But it fails to answer the question "What If Love If The Point?," until the last chapter. The other chapters are just background info on Alexa and Carlos' lives before being a couple, to dating, then marriage, then parenthood. They could have expanded more on their points, but only gave us a nugget of wisdom. This book could have been much more and just fell flat.

What If Love Is the Point? goes behind the scenes with Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega. From the stories of how they found fame (Carlos with Big Time Rush, and Alexa with Spy Kids), to the struggles they were fighting behind closed doors (eating disorders, drug habits, etc.) to finding Jesus and falling in love. They are down to earth and honest. This book is like a breath of fresh air; inspirational, spreads the gospel without being preachy, and shows you that these two are more than just pretty faces, and that fame isn't everything.

This book wasn’t totally what I was expecting. I thoroughly enjoyed it, in each and every way possible. Both Alexa and Carlos had real and raw honesty - especially Alexa talking about her eating disorder so trigger warning for that - which hit home in a few ways personally. I, personally, enjoyed how neither were pushy with their beliefs, they just talked about it a lot, so if anyone is on the fence about reading it for that reason, no worries! After finishing this book I was left feeling good, and with a renewed sense of faith.

Incredible!!! I have genuinely enjoyed reading this memoir of love, life, and Jesus. I have been a fan of Alexa since Spy Kids and fell more in love with these two after seeing them together in Hallmark movies. I knew they had something special so I searched them on Instagram and YouTube and started following them. Their love and family are something I definitely looked up to after witnessing their day-to-day life, so I knew when they were writing a book it was something I needed to read. I personally am in the early stages of my relationship with God and finding my spot in religion. This book made me feel less alone. I appreciated their honesty and how they themselves are not perfect but they have grown with God. I admire them as people and their relationships so much more after reading about their journey and all the setbacks. I found solace in their words and comfort in their beliefs in the last chapter. I learned so much and truly “love is the point.” It is the feeling you get when you read this book, it was written out of love and by two people who genuinely love each other. Highly recommend it for anyone on a spiritual journey or people who want to grow along with these two amazing people.

While this is not something I enjoy proclaiming to others, it is the best way of showing my sincerity and delight meant. I am dyslexic so reading is not something I generally enjoy - that being said, reading What If Love Is the Point?: Living for Jesus in a Self-Consumed World by Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega could not have come at a better time in my life. While this book does focus on Christian marriage, it goes way beyond that. I would highly suggest if you are an avid reader, strongly dislike reading, are Christian, are not religious at all, are single, married, or anything else in between to read this book. This book made me cry, laugh, gain understanding, and leave feeling like I have purpose and want to live life again.

Knowing Carlos and PenaVega were a young, Christian Hollywood couple who are parents, I was excited to read their book, What If Love Is the Point. It's an easy-to-read book that I found hard to put down and read it in a few hours. From page one, I was given a front row seat into the lives as Carlos and Alexa as they told their story. Throughout the book, each one takes a turn in writing their chapter and the last chapter is written together. Through the book, you learn of their background as singles, how they came to work in Hollywood, and in the music industry, how they overcame challenges of an eating disorder, broken relationships, and learn how their faith journey began. Los and Lex share how they met, dated, married and how their faith grew. As a married couple, they share how they balance each other, and how they lean on their faith. What makes them real is their honesty, raw and unedited; it is what makes them relatable. As parents, Los and Lex share how they are raising their children to not just love God, but be kingdom builders and give examples that we can all do, not just as kids.

As they tell their story, I was immersed in their highs and lows and cheered for them as they shared how God became real in their life, how He performed miracles for them, and what He is still teaching them. Their ups and downs are what I could relate to most of all and made them seem more down to earth. I thought the last chapter especially highlighted the book's theme of love. Carlos and Alexa share a list "Because love is the point,..." and then expound on how they use it in their life and invite us too also. These points are so good, I want them as magnets on my refrigerator as a reminder of how my life can be fulfilled, have peace, a purpose and help my faith grow! This book can be read over and over again as their is much to absorb and treasure. I was blessed to read their book and get to "know them" and appreciate where they started in their journey and where they are now - and I don't just mean living in HI! This book will appeal to Christians, but also to anyone wanting to read a good love story. I appreciate how the book made me examine what is important to me and what points I may want to reconsider.

This book was an easy read. If I didn't have 3 little kids of my own, I could've finished it in one night. I loved it. This book was incredibly refreshing to me. I think we all tend to put people in a box of perfection and think "they don't have problems because they have money" or "they have it all because they're famous". It was honestly so relieving to read that Carlos and Alexa are a normal married couple with little kids who struggle with normal things. I am thankful they are using their platform to speak out about something difficult like an eating disorder. I am thankful they chose to share how they pray and listen and wait for God. It isn't easy to love in this world, but Carlos and Alexa are showing how they love Jesus and each other and still have faith. I wish they wrote more, I could read about them all day.

Wow! This book was incredible. The real, raw truths that both Lex and Los shared really spoke to me and encouraged me to listen to their words. I'm in a season of my life where I feel like things are good and spiraling out of control at the same time. I love that they share the "simple" things that they do daily to listen to and follow God. I couldn't put this book down and it really made me think and ask questions to myself. I felt real emotion while reading. Some parts made me laugh, while others tugged on the heartstrings. I also liked reading from both prospective and getting to see a situation from every angle. I appreciate them sharing this story with the world. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for more out of life and love and want to see that living in God's word is really the true guidance you need!

Oh oh oh ohhh. (If you know you know.) When you're little, everyone thinks that these famous personalities with lights, cameras, fan base, attention, and money are the leading results to success. If someone is successful it means happiness, aka that was the point of living. As one gets older, we get wiser, how? By reading, the fans get to see what happens behind the camera or stage and ask themselves the following questions: Have you ever wondered what happened behind the camera to your favorite childhood actors? What were their thoughts, heartache, personal relationships, etc? Just because you see people on stage having “the time of their lives” in front of you at truly a concert that you will never forget or giving a red carpet smile for a picture when you saw their pictures on "the cover of every supermarket magazine", is genuinely fulfilling. Nope. The love that our creator, God, is the point. In this book, Carlos and Alexa Penavega show us that anyone can have everything but without God’s love then they have nothing. I genuinely recommend this book to any young person that looks up to any celebrity. Sadly, in popular culture, the mentality is having money, fame, and success is based on a limited time in front of a screen. But Carlos and Alexa remind us that the point of success and happiness is to have God’s love everywhere, anywhere, and of course all the time. So go and pick up a copy of this book because you will have a different mentality after reading it. Blessings :)

I admired Carlos and Alexa before I read this book, and I admire them even more now that I’m finished. I enjoyed every minute of their story.

I, like many others, follow them on Instagram. I’ve long admired their relationship with each other and their family relationship. They seem like the picture-perfect family, however I know that they have struggles just like the rest of us. Their story gave more insight about how they deal with those struggles and what has worked for them, especially turning to Christ.

I appreciated how raw they were and how they genuinely opened up about their struggles and successes. Hearing how Alexa overcame her disordered eating and how she knew one morning that it was really gone was really amazing. I enjoyed watching them each come to Christ and how so much of their lives were orchestrated for their good. I liked how they saw Christ in their lives and acknowledged His hand instead of passing it off as coincidence.

I think the part that stood out the most to me was their experience on Dancing with the Stars. It must have taken a lot of strength to focus on their marriage relationship when everyone else was telling them to put their dancing partner first. I thought it must have felt so fulfilling when they got fan mail thanking them for putting their focus on their marriage the week after Alfonso told Alexa to focus more on her partner instead of Carlos. It was remarkable that Carlos was able to share his testimony during the show. It was a huge risk, but they didn’t care about the risks; they wanted everyone to know who Christ was just like they did. I think that one of the things I respect most about Carlos and Alexa is that they don’t care what society says, they don’t care what is popular in show business. They proudly defend their values and accept roles that fit in line with them or turn away roles that put their values at risk.

Another part I really resonated with was when they told about how they prayed to put on the armor of God, what a great way to pray over your family. Overall, the book was truly thought provoking. I finished it wanting to evaluate my relationship with Christ, and to be a better person.

I've followed Carlos and Alexa since they appeared on Dancing With the Stars in 2015. At that point, I'd never heard of Carlos and barely knew of Alexa, but they really drew me in with the way they openly talked about their faith in Jesus Christ and their love for one another. I don't know them as celebrities but as really cool people who share their lives—which just happen to be different than ours—with their fans.

What if Love is the Point? walks us through both Carlos and Alexa's journeys to becoming youth celebrities. You'll learn about their families and their backgrounds, their teenage dating stories, the things they enjoyed about their lives, and the ways they struggled. You'll learn how each of them individually came to know Jesus Christ as Savior, and shortly thereafter met one another.

Because I've always known them as a married couple, I learned lots of new things about their growing up years. I also loved reading more about things that have happened since I've been following them, like becoming parents and their move to Hawaii.

Most of all, I'm so proud of them for releasing a story that unashamedly promotes Jesus Christ. They're honest about the things Jesus has helped them overcome, and how He has made good things happen from bad circumstances. You can feel their passion for Him and how much they want to honor Him with their lives. I have mad respect for that.

If you enjoy reading about celebrities or just two really cool people, I'd recommend this book to you.

I received my copy of the book from the authors. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I have always adored these two growing up to watching their vlogs and cruising! Their Wednesday study was so fun to watch as well. It is wild how it seems I was a kid watching Alexa kick tale on Spy Kids lol.

If you are new to faith and newly or even those who have been married for years, this book is definitely something I recommend. This book gives into detail of both Carlos and Alexa’s youth experiences from dreams visions and how they also shift in ways as they grow older. They talk about meeting one another and early dating into their marriage that of course now have three beautiful children.
They talk about their finding of faith and holding steadfast to their faith in God. I love how Carlos is positive and Alexa is full of love and encouragement!

With celebrities books it’s understandable to be stand-off, but this book has been a joy to read. It has proven to be sincere and heartfelt while pointing to Jesus and family. “What If Love Is The Point” a must-read!

Hi, my name is Chrystal, most know me as Jarlosgirl101. What If Love is the Point is Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega’s testimony of how the met each other, how they found Jesus and their life journey along the way. This book appeals to every audience whether or not you are a believer or not. What did I like most about this book? The rawness. What do I mean by this? Well, I love how Carlos and Alexa were bold enough to tell these stories and to share something in their personal lives with their readers. I know as a fan, I got to see who Carlos was as a person not just a celebrity. I got to see how Alexa and Carlos started out in their career and see that they struggle just like we do. I used to view celebrities as “perfect” but this book really shows that celebrities feel and do the same as any other person does. When I read this book I laughed, I cried, I put myself in their shoes. I have been a Rusher for 13 years and I always thought highly of Carlos, like he could do no wrong. I always viewed Carlos as a hyperactive guy who loved people. I was partially right! Carlos always had a heart for those around him and through his story you definitely can see that. My favourite story in the book was the very first one and the one about Carlos asking Andrew why he was always so happy. The first chapter talks about how Carlos started Big Time Rush and you can bet the Rusher in me jumped for joy reading about his audition process. Also, for Alexa’s part I loved reading about her moments on the Spy Kids set. It is funny but I never realized that she was Carmen Cortez until I saw Carlos date her, yet I was a big fan of the Spy Kids trilogy! This book helped me realize that Carlos and Alexa are just like us. There are moments where I felt a lot like Carlos and at times a lot like Alexa! This book was a page turner! I love to read so I definitely enjoyed. Anything I dislike about this book? NOTHING! It was so well written, so interesting to read and made me happy. If I had to give this book a rating out of 10, it would honestly be a 100000000/10! You guys broke my scale! Go purchase this book, you won’t be disappointed!

I truly didn’t know what exactly to expect from this book. I have known these two since my girls were young and followed them through them. Because of that, I knew some of their story. When I started chapter one, I didn’t want to put the book down. I wanted to continue reading. To know their whole story. They were so honest with their life story and how Jesus worked through the good, the bad and the ugly to bring them to Him and each other. Then their journey together and how they try and live a live that shines brightly for Jesus in an industry that doesn’t and doesn’t always support marriage in general. I really was encouraged and impressed with their faith, commitment and boldness to follow Jesus and remain committed to each other in-spite of the demands of Hollywood. This is definitely a book I’d recommend reading and one I could find myself reading more than once and honestly, I don’t usually re-read books due to so many books I read. I’ve honestly almost picked it back up again to read already again! I think this book definitely has something for everyone. I encourage you to take a chance and read it for yourself. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All views stated here are my own.

I went into reading this book with an expectation that I was going to hear about God and learn a little more about Carlos and Alexa’s lives, what I got out of it was much more than I could have hoped. They did an excellent job of seamlessly weaving God and their faith into stories about their trials and triumphs. I felt like I was in a room with them while they told me their story. There were moments I laughed, cried, and even verbally said "WOW".

Before even finishing the book, I was already telling my friends and family how amazing it was and the fresh perspective I gained following each chapter. I know this will continue to be a book that I reread through different seasons of my life and I’m already itching to lead a book study with their discussion questions. It looks like Christmas presents will be easy this year. 😊

First of all, I just want to thank Carlos and Alexa and the launch team for providing me with an advanced copy of this book before it was published.

After reading this book, I realized what a lot of people say is correct: social media is NOT real life. On social media, Carlos and Alexa definitely look like they have their lives together: happily married with three kids, doing what they love as their jobs, living on a beautiful island in a nice house, having strong, close friendships and family relationships, etc. When Carlos and Alexa started to talk about their stories, it really felt like they were having a one-on-one chat with me about my struggles: Alexa wanted to be seen and heard, and Carlos wanted to give up on God after a pipe burst. Celebrities are really just like us! But what’s different about Carlos and Alexa from a lot of other celebrities is how they handle their struggles, which is through their faith. At the beginning of my journey with God, I always wondered how Carlos and Alexa are able to live such perfect lives. As I continued to grow stronger in faith each day with the help of my wonderful church (and from reading this book), I figured out the answer: the PenaVegas’ lives aren’t actually perfect, but they seem perfect because they know God loves them and they can rely on God for guidance.

I read most of this book on a particularly stressful international trip where I would often be so focused in the moment that I would forget God is still there. Eventually, whenever I was able to be in a quiet place, I would remind myself that God loves me. Once I calmed my mind, I would read a chapter or two, reminding me that God can help me with all the stress and struggles I was going through. In fact, after seeing all the times Carlos and Alexa were able to solve problems by stepping aside and asking God for help, before I even finished the book, I started to pray short, quick prayers for something happening at the moment, as opposed to putting everything in my daily prayer before bed.

This book is a must-read for everyone: teens, young adults, parents, grandparents, etc. If you are going through a difficult time in life, I highly recommend this book, whether you’re Christian or not.
