I really enjoyed reading this book! I love that 3 women meet and bond together over their divorces. Their friendship was an element that I loved in this story. I also thought that the growth and development of each main character was well done.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Vanessa Jared took her emotionally abusive ex to the cleaners and never looked back. Sure, her self-confidence is in tatters, but she has two fellow divorcees who have her back. Her quiet life is interrupted when Michael Park turns up on her doorstep. His little sister is engaged to Vanessa's ex and Michael needs Vanessa's help to expose him before the wedding.
I loved that the leads were a little older and are racially diverse. I definitely disliked Michael's overprotective streak as Vanessa was still recovering from being under her ex's thumb, but what (perhaps irrationally) annoyed me was the coincidences around Michael being sheriff of the same small town where Vanessa's friends grew up, actually they went to high school together and ran in similar circles, actually he has two friends who have always struck sparks off her two friends... It felt contrived and distracted from what was actually quite a cute story about two closed off people opening up to each other.
Overall this was a sexy and fun read that mostly hit the spot. It's a great debut and I think the author has far to go!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I liked this book it was cute, had great plot but I was not feeling it when it came to the MCs. Their chemistry could’ve been better to be honest.

I like the age of the character and the overall idea. I was not feeling the chemistry/dialogue between the characters in this one as much as I would have liked to.

Grown folks acting like grown up and falling in love in an honest and mature way.
I’m so excited for this series!

First of all, the spice was hot!
One thing I was excited about was the book didn't so much as focus on Vanessa's divorce but instead on her growth as an individual, which showed how she was learning to love herself after a marriage filled with emotional abuse. It was a really good thing to see.
But when the sheriff steps into her space, everything changes — for both of them. They both are attracted to each other but find it hard to come to terms with it until they are forced to act on it.
The tension, the pacing, and the chemistry, everything was top-notch. I will definitely be looking out for book 2.

Okay, don't hate me, but this book, wasn't it for me. I really tried connecting with the characters, but I found them a bit annoying at times. I understand they are both trying to stop her no-good ex-husband, but goodness, they acted like fools at times. Don't understand their chemistry with each other too. One minute, they can't stand each other and the other minute they are pinning over each other. Like pick a pace so we can adjust the expectation for the couple to start falling for each other.

Vanessa and Michael have a very unconventional first meeting. Vanessa's exhusband is newly engaged to Michael's sister. But the ex has told Michaels's sister that Vanessa is no longer living.. This may be my first LaQuette romance, but it won't be my last. Is's great to read a book where the hero and heroine are in their 40's. And yes there are still sexy times between the two main characters.
I received an ARC from Net Galley but it in no way influenced my review.

This gave me major How Stella Got her Groove back vibes and I was all in! Vanessa is divorced, in her forties and trying to get her life back. Her life is thrown in a loop when a sexy sheriff appears on her doorstep asking her to stop his little sister from marrying the ex that she got away from. Vanessa does not want to touch this with a ten foot pole. She doesn’t want to get involved and she wants nothing to do with her ex, at all. That is until she sees a photo of her ex’s new fiancé wearing HER GRANDMOTHER’S ring. What in the fresh hell is this? It’s most definitely time to step in. What she doesn’t expect is to fall in love along the way. This was pure fun and I need it as a movie!
Thank you #stmartinspress and #netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't very interested in this one. I technically did not finish it, but I think I read enough to be able to review. I was bored with the characters, the relationship, literally everything. I don't believe it was a fault of the book because I was in a massive slump and only wanted to read fantasy romance novellas. I think many people will love this book, but personally I couldn't find it ion myself to push through.

This was pretty engaging and both characters had great chemistry. Strong and witty writing. Quite the page turner.

Give this a couple of chapters to get going because it starts out seeming like it's going to be a total downer when it is in fact a very light romance with an excellent empowerment message.
Vanessa is struggling to get over her bitter divorce from an emotionally abusive and controlling man, even though it's been two years and she has the amazing support of two great friends she made while attending a divorcee support group. She's struggling to move on with her life when Michael visits her home to ask for her help in showing his sister that her fiancee, Vanessa's ex, is a con man.
The chemistry between them is obvious from the start and seeing them slowly realize that there's no escaping it and then giving in to it makes for great reading. Not to mention that LaQuette knows all the right notes to hit when getting to the really fun parts (wink, wink).
I really enjoyed not just the romance but the growth that Vanessa experienced over the course of putting herself out there and living her life. It shows a great message that you can keep going even after your think there's nothing left.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable read with interesting characters, a solid storyline, and an even better message.
Happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the great read!

This was a great contemporary book, and I would definitely recommend it!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher.

Holy fan myself Batman! This book was hot hot out! With a diverse cast of characters and a story that kept me interested. Totally recto any romance lovers especially if you also love Spanish soap operas! Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this read!

This book was great. I’m always looking for new romances! I didn’t know if I’d connect well because the characters are are 20 years older than me but they were so well written and I adored them.

absolutely PERFECT!!! i need more books by this author immediately, i can say sometimes the dialogue was a bit cringe but other than that i thought this book was good. it has good friendships, i really want books about cree and janae to be honest, especially janae. this book actually has a plotline and the romance was done so well.

This was a cute, quick read. I loved the family and friends as well as the sizzle between love interests.

I really wanted to love this read but I felt like the storyline deviated from the synopsis of the book. I personally am not a huge fan of the love/lust at first sight so I wasn't completely convinced of Vanessa and Michael's relationship. I wish we got some more development between the two because it just really felt like lust the entire time.

I really enjoyed the idea of the post-divorce older woman character this story promised. Vanessa was definitely all of that. However I just don't understand the point of the story. There seemed to be very little plot, a lot of talking about how attractive the other character was, a little spice/smut and the conflict with the ex-husband/sister was very short lived. Honestly didn't understand why Michael and Vanessa found each other so attractive because they hardly spent time together.
Overall I think the story was written well as in the author was great at describing people, places, and such. It did honestly have potential, but it fell flat for me due to lack of substantial plot.

Thank you st martins press and netgalley for allowing me to read this book. This book is so refreshing! I loved reading about Vanessa getting her groove back after Karl’s abuse. Michael is so amazing and the main characters friends add so much fun to the book! I loved how realistic I felt this book was in the romance aspect! This was a cute quick fun read! I really liked the depth into the characters. I can’t wait to read about Vanessa’s friends and Michaels friends getting together in future books!
