This was an amazing read. The characters are compelling and real and the story itself is authentic. The flow of events quickly pulls the reader into the story. It doesn't take long until the reader is fully engrossed in the narrative and the unfolding of events.

This was fine. It was scary and the tension was built well but none of the reveals were interesting or surprising and its use of DID as a jumpscare was truly awful given how stigmatized the condition is.

Johnny Hawk doesn’t know what life holds for him but after what he just learned, frankly he does not care. Looking for a new adventure, Johnny leaves his current life as a tech entrepreneur and along the way meetings Wendy Jag.

Wendy Jag works as a dentist in New Mexico. Wendy is just trying to keep her secrets and demons at bay. She must not let them run free. But how long can she keep them hidden?

Wendy and Johnny make practically an instant connection and Johnny feels like something real is there. Can he accept her past though? He may not have a Choice.

I appreciate it when an author can fit a story, that could have easily been 600+ pages, into a novella of less than 300 pages. There is an art to it. An art of leaving the reader wanting more. Davide Taristano did just that in his book, The Tooth Fairy. The character development that he created within this novella is allowed for the reader to catch on quickly. While I still wanted to learn more about Wendy so I could see how she ticked and why she is the way she is, it didn’t deter from the overall story. The reader can easily follow the thought process for both characters. The pace throughout the story lended to the idea of this book being a roller coaster for the reader.

I would recommend this book, after the trigger warnings are read, to anyone who enjoys a quick horror novella read.

This one was tough for me to get into. While the subject matter was interesting and thrilling, it just didn’t grab my interest, and I had to set it aside for a bit. It took me awhile to read and while it was suspenseful, it dragged in parts. I think ultimately the writing style just didn’t work for me.

I went it with not many expectations, and at first I thought Oh! This is good. But... the gory details gets lost in so much description, I couldn't finish it. The idea is good, but the writing needs to lose a few adjectives.

Today’s theme is dentophobia. Earlier I watched a movie called The Dentist. Now I’m finishing up my review of The Tooth Fairy, by Davide Tarsitano.

Remember that episode of Ren and Stimpy where Ren has a toothache and ends up grinding his teeth and waking with broken shards that shatter and fall out completely, leaving behind stinking gum holes? Listen, I don’t really fear dental work, but I have had that dream. The one where your teeth all fall out. You know the one.

The Tooth Fairy is the story of two people from different worlds who end up crossing paths, both getting more than they bargained for. Johnny Hawk is trying to get a fresh start after finding his wife with another man. He gets his business partner to buy him out so he can go road tripping until he figures out how he’s going to start over. Somewhere along the way, a niggling tooth pain becomes a big deal and he needs a dentist asap. He meets Wendy and things start looking up for him. What he doesn’t know is that she is a deeply disturbed woman with a dark past that is threatening to resurface. When he sees through her facade, he finds himself drugged and strapped to a dentist chair. I could tell you more, but where’s the fun in that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. This was a pretty good read. I was a little worried that it was going to be some kind of supernatural story with a tooth fairy boogeyman but it’s actually a psychological thriller humans are the monsters type horror story, and I love those. I look forward to Tarsitano’s future work.

WOWOWOW. Might be a contender for top 10 of 2022. The perfect book for spooky season - I devoured this book in 24 hours and struggled to put it down. Who doesn't have an aversion to the dentist? There are dark, sadistic and seriously horrific things that left me cringing and uncomfortable in my own skin. A must add to your library if you love a horror page turner. Fast paced and wildly original; I loved this book.

The way this book started had me instantly hooked. It was a fantastic introduction to the story. As I got more into it I was having a hard time continuing. It felt like there was so much unnecessary information like Jamie’s family or Ellen’s affair. Neither of those stories reached a conclusion so I felt like it was a waste of writing. The ending was a predictable one and I found myself strangely rooting for Wendy. She could have become a very good killer. I wish the writer have dove more into her inner turmoil. To be frank, a book titled “the tooth fairy” didn’t have as much tooth fairy related parts as I’d hoped. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely read more. Thank you for the opportunity to review.

My first book by this author & won't be the last. It has everything you want in a horror book; plot, suspense, creepy & twisted. Definitely one of those books that keep you thinking about it for awhile. It keeps you intrigued & on the edge of your seat. Also has awesome character development.

Johnny is on the run from his troubles, he thinks nothing of selling up and leaving everything behind for a new life. During his journey he meets the beautiful dentist Wendy, and that's when he really knows the meaning of 'Trouble'.

Well written, great introduction to the book, disturbing & gory at times, great for horror/thriller fans but I would say it has a wider reach.

This novel follows the thrilling tale of a simple man who is desperate to escape his circumstances, and how a simple road trip leaves him with nothing but a passionate yet dangerous encounter. As their attraction begins to flourish, it is unavoidable that the woman he meets begins to show a crack in her innocent exterior, as she slowly starts revealing the true parts of herself that she has struggled to keep hidden. Her past catches up to her and thus begins the struggle as those around her fight to escape with their lives, as well as their sanities.

For such a highly rated thriller novel, it is apparently inevitable that I would end up in the minority of those with opinions on this book. Needless to say, I didn't like it. First of all, I wasn't a fan of the writing style, and the pacing did not meet my preferences at all. The fact that the plot only truly began at around the 60% mark, was one of the reasons that I felt quite detached for most of this story, while my disinterest in the characters and their slightly bland development, was the other reason why I could not connect with this book as much. The ending was also extremely abrupt and open-ended which just led to my minor enjoyment of this book, and my final rating of 1.5 stars. It may just not be my standard, but this book is still quite an interesting concept that was developed for this author's debut.

Overall the opinions on this book appear to be overwhelmingly positive so my review should be read with caution and taken with a grain of salt. Even though I did not love this book as much as I expected, I am still grateful to Booksirens and the publishers for providing me with the opportunity to read a novel with such a unique concept.

A dark story dealing with abuse, mental illness and trauma. This isn't a light read or a make believe story but a heavy and powerful story that may cause uncomfortable reading for some. This book isn't what I was expecting and it's definitely not a book I can easily say I enjoyed due to the dark nature behind it but it is very well written.

We follow Johnny who suffers a betrayal in his personal life and sets off in a journey to literally anywhere but here. He ends up in a little town and meets what he believed to be the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Things seem to be on the up and up until they’re not.

I enjoyed this quick read. It was disturbing and a thriller/horror mix which I truly enjoy. It was well written and had a good pace without getting too bogged down in details. I recommend this for horror readers who aren’t afraid of a little gore.

The book seemed eccentric and mysterious right from the beginning. However, it was a bit slow paced in the beginning, so a bit tiring at times, but there was something about the writing style (+the anticipation) that I didn't feel like leaving it unfinished (I am a very impatient reader).

I'm glad I stayed patient while reading this one, as it turned out to be a very interesting read. Mysterious, creepy and gripping. Really liked the writing style (lyrical at times) and the execution of the story.

I adore this book. Every moment I was on the edge of my seat and I didn't wanna put it down. The name kind of thrown me off but once i began to read I was surprised on how good it was. I will suggest this book to everyone.

Ultimately this just didn’t hit the spot for me but it was still enjoyable. Wendy was an interesting character to get to know. But it was a slow burn and most of the time I don’t mind it but I really didn’t feel invested in the story.

I wish I could say this lived up to all my expectations, but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. Idk what happened but it started off so strong and then bam; downhill. I enjoyed parts but overall it was meh. I will pick up other titles from the author because I do think this may have been just a me thing with this book since I built my hopes up without really doing my research on it. 3⭐️

I just finished the Tooth Fairy by Davide Taristano

Johnny Hawk decides to leave his life behind and takes his dad's classic car on a roadtrip to start his life over. On the way he picks up a hitchhiker, who sees he is in desperate need of a dentist. Upon arriving in New Mexico Johnny meets the beautiful Wendy Jag who extracts his problem tooth.
Fireworks and passion fly and Johnny feels some serious contentment.
Little does he know that the woman he has strong feelings for has a dark and disturbing past… One he starts to discover when he finds himself drugged and strapped to her dentist chair….

I was seriously thirsting for something dark and sadistic and this book delivers some seriously horrific twists. Digging into the darkest psyche of a seriously deranged woman, had me flipping pages like a maniac!

I loved that the book didn’t need to dig into any of the characters' backgrounds to be a really solid read. I would have liked a bit more on Wendy and her father and how she ended up the way she did as I kind of feel that it was left a bit more abstract than I would have liked but there was gore galore and honestly, it was one hell of a read without it anyway.

If you love a book loaded with gore and will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you!

This tooth fairy is definitely not the one you remember as a child, or want visiting you in the middle of the night. Though predictable, the story builds in suspense and violence that makes you squirm in your seat. Typically I'm not a fan of horror type novels but this one had me hooked! It was a quick read and the twist was insane! Great debut novel and cannot wait to read more of Davide's work!
