It’s official, Sophie Gonzales is only capable of writing incredible books that bring you joy and make you feel all of the feels! If you’re looking for a fast-paced, YA contemporary book with the Bachelor vibes and a sweet sapphic relationship, look no further.
Never Ever Getting Back Together follows Maya and Skye, and their ex-boyfriend, Jordy. They both get a call one day to join a dating show called Second Chance Romance to compete against Jordy’s other exes for his heart. Maya, the ex Jordy cheated on, goes on the show for revenge. Skye, the girl Jordy cheated on Maya with, goes on the show to see if she and Jordy can recapture the spark they once had. But, as the competition progresses, Skye and Maya realize their time on the show may have a different ending than they thought.
Things to Expect:
Revenge against a cheating ex
Reality TV show setting
Rivals turned lovers
Laugh out loud moments
Never Ever Getting Back Together is such a fun read. Sophie Gonzales knows how to keep readers entertained from start to finish. I love how this book points out all of the misogyny in reality dating shows while keeping the tone light. If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile and laugh, check this out.

Maya and Skye forever, Jordy for never!
I've never been a fan of "The Bachelor" but there is something about Never Ever Getting Back Together to made me want to read it. Maybe it was the title (I've had Taylor Swift stuck in my head the ENTIRE time), maybe it was the promise of revenge, either way, I was not disappointed. Falling for your ex is so last year. Falling for your ex's ex. is where it's at.

The best way to describe how awesome this book is, basically boils own to this: Everyone watches reality dating shows. They are the guilty pleasure that keeps us glued to our seats, shoving snacks into our mouths and screaming at the screens the way some sports fans do when a bad call is made.
In this book Sophie Gonzales does what everyone has hoped for time and time again.
She made it so the m/m and f/f end up together as it should be.
There were tons of Bachelor references that made me want to binge old seasons, and the Taylor Swift reference alone was golden.
Certainly a quick quirky read that I adored.

This was one of my most hyped books of the year, and I am SO glad I made the time to read it - HOW FUN?! I love the setup of a dating show being central to the plot, and the added drama of two characters dating one another after bonding over a shared ex piqued my interest even more. I will admit that the characters came off a bit dry to me -- I wish they'd maybe been a little more fleshed out and had some sort of quirks or something that made them feel more realistic. That said, it was still super fun! I think the YA age range is a little odd, I can't imagine teens on a dating show being of any interest to... anyone really, outside of other teens maybe? Like dating shows seem more of an "early adult" age thing, but maybe that's just a weird thing I think, haha. Still, enjoyed this a lot!

Here’s the thing about this book - in theory, I absolutely loved it. This is the story of Maya and Skye, two girls who go on a reality show called “Second Chance Love” where they compete to have a second chance with their ex-boyfriend, but end up falling for each other instead. The concept is great, the characters are so well-fleshed-out, and the love story is absolutely swoon-worthy! BUT. I had a hard time getting my mind around a dating reality show that has 18-year-olds competing on it. That just feels too young! That aspect of the book gave me the ick, but other than that I really enjoyed it.

I love Sophie Gonzales’ writing so much. I think the premise of this book was so fun and the writing just made it better. I enjoyed both of the girls and despised Jordy. I definitely can’t wait to gift this one to friends.

Oh. This was Golden. I love a revenge plot turned love story. You’re telling me two scorned gals then start to fall in love on a dating show where they’re competing for the one that scorned them? Get outta here. That’s pure gold. I loved this book and this writing. I’d honestly been waiting for this book to come out for ages. I then got blessed with an ARC and it did not disappoint. I implore you to read it because it’s just a good time.

This was SUCH a delightful read. I genuinely had so much fun reading this, especially whenever it was from Maya's POV. It had me howling in laughter and holding my breath in anticipation. The perfect amount of drama, comedy, and romance! I greatly enjoyed the scheming and plotting to get revenge on Jordy. This can easily be made into a TV show (the book itself, not Second Chance Romance--we have enough shows like that).
Most importantly, Skye and Maya are absolutely adorable and I really enjoyed watching them go from enemies to friends to lovers. They had some of the most romantic thoughts I've ever read, particularly for a YA novel. Just so wonderfully written!
Also I would like to extend my adoration to Isaac, who is quite frankly the best. Hands down the best side character besides Perrie (who also has my undying love).
I requested this book because it sounded something like our teen patrons would read (especially given the virality of real-life examples of Bachelor shows having the bachelorettes falling for each other), and after reading it, I definitely see this one getting checked out a lot, re-reads included!

It took me months to get through this novel. The characters were likeable, except Jordy. The concept was interesting, but I just could not get into the story. It seemed to drag a lot through the middle, and by the end I remembered very little about the other contestants on the show. And, though the author is know for YA books, this is definitely not a YA novel.

A fun read!! Sophie Gonzales is really good at making characters that are just so fun to love. I really enjoyed the interesting plot and how the characters worked with others. All in all a good read!

Thank you to @netgalley and @Stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to @macmillian.audio for a free download of the audiobook.
In an interesting twist on a romance reality show, Jordy brings his exes together in an attempt to rekindle a past relationship. Some of the girls take it super serious, some learn they were brought back because they would make great villians, and some are looking for revenge. But then there are girls who get more than they bargain for, each other <3 A twist I was not expecting.
I really enjoyed the development of the relationship between Maya and Skye. The concept is good. The writing was entertaining. I couldn’t put it down!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one with the characters being SO young but I suppose that is how it is on shows like The Bachelor.
As a reality tv fan I loved this one - it definitely reminded me of the tv show Unreal! I highly recommend this read!

2.5 stars, I guess. I found the concept very special and unique, but didn't really enjoy the characters. The chemistry between Maya and Skye was compelling from the start, yet I felt the story was a tad too plot driven. I didn't understand the sudden change in the girls' understanding of each other, nor did I like how long it took for Skye and Maya to get close. I'm not a fan of Jordy (who is?) and I really don't get the craze for him. I kept hoping for this to get better, but it really wasn't worth it.
I received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publishers. All opinions are completely mine.

“What if you went on the bachelor but instead of falling for him, you fall for your roomate?”
That’s exactly what this book was and it was delicious. There were lots of places where I thought I was gonna cringe, but the author handled the awkward bits of the characters situation really well v

Never Ever Getting Back Together was a pretty cute romcom book to jump into. Definitely gave the vibes of the Bachelor but with exes instead of new girls ever seen a love triangle and just thought, "those two boys/ two girls should just cut their losses and date each other? This is that book and was totally worth it

This was so much fun. When Mya is asked to go on a reality show for second chance love with her ex-boyfriend Jordy, she sees this as the perfect opportunity to seek revenge for his lies and betrayals. What she didn't sign up for was to be roommates with his other ex, Sky, whom he cheated on her with. Sparks will fly between these two in both bad and good ways. Who will make it to the end of the reality show and end up with Jordy, and will they be able to shine the light on who Jordy really is? This was a fun adventure into a spin-off of The Bachelor theme. I loved the story line and the characters. Thank you, NetGalley, for the eARC. 5 stars.

This didn’t feel like a YA concept. I think this would’ve worked much better as a new adult book, or even with characters slightly older than that.

So much didn't work here for me. I could not connect to the characters for starters, which is always a death kneel for a book. Part of that just boils down to the age of the characters. They were written as just out of high school (side note, I did not realize this, or I would not have requested this book - I do not enjoy YA), had YA level drama, but also had moments of acting like more NA aged characters. I think this would have worked a lot better if they had been written up a few years - like keep the same basic story, but with characters in their mid 20s, and write them with the life experience and emotional maturity of characters in their mid 20's.

It was cute. I requested it for the Taylor swift title. I am not a huge romance reader but sometimes it's nice to break things up with a simple romance and that's what this was used for and it did its job.

2 stars for the bi rep!!
unfortunately this book just fell flat to me. I really enjoyed the premise but overall the relationship between maya and skye felt very rushed to the point i couldnt really connect with the characters.
hope to read some of sophie's other works as i did enjoy their writing style.
thank you to netgalley and st. martins press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
