Thank you to @netgalley and @Stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to @macmillian.audio for a free download of the audiobook.

In an interesting twist on a romance reality show, Jordy brings his exes together in an attempt to rekindle a past relationship. Some of the girls take it super serious, some learn they were brought back because they would make great villians, and some are looking for revenge. But then there are girls who get more than they bargain for, each other <3 A twist I was not expecting.

I really enjoyed the development of the relationship between Maya and Skye. The concept is good. The writing was entertaining. I couldn’t put it down!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one with the characters being SO young but I suppose that is how it is on shows like The Bachelor.

As a reality tv fan I loved this one - it definitely reminded me of the tv show Unreal! I highly recommend this read!

2.5 stars, I guess. I found the concept very special and unique, but didn't really enjoy the characters. The chemistry between Maya and Skye was compelling from the start, yet I felt the story was a tad too plot driven. I didn't understand the sudden change in the girls' understanding of each other, nor did I like how long it took for Skye and Maya to get close. I'm not a fan of Jordy (who is?) and I really don't get the craze for him. I kept hoping for this to get better, but it really wasn't worth it.

I received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publishers. All opinions are completely mine.

“What if you went on the bachelor but instead of falling for him, you fall for your roomate?”

That’s exactly what this book was and it was delicious. There were lots of places where I thought I was gonna cringe, but the author handled the awkward bits of the characters situation really well v

Never Ever Getting Back Together was a pretty cute romcom book to jump into. Definitely gave the vibes of the Bachelor but with exes instead of new girls ever seen a love triangle and just thought, "those two boys/ two girls should just cut their losses and date each other? This is that book and was totally worth it

This was so much fun. When Mya is asked to go on a reality show for second chance love with her ex-boyfriend Jordy, she sees this as the perfect opportunity to seek revenge for his lies and betrayals. What she didn't sign up for was to be roommates with his other ex, Sky, whom he cheated on her with. Sparks will fly between these two in both bad and good ways. Who will make it to the end of the reality show and end up with Jordy, and will they be able to shine the light on who Jordy really is? This was a fun adventure into a spin-off of The Bachelor theme. I loved the story line and the characters. Thank you, NetGalley, for the eARC. 5 stars.

This didn’t feel like a YA concept. I think this would’ve worked much better as a new adult book, or even with characters slightly older than that.

So much didn't work here for me. I could not connect to the characters for starters, which is always a death kneel for a book. Part of that just boils down to the age of the characters. They were written as just out of high school (side note, I did not realize this, or I would not have requested this book - I do not enjoy YA), had YA level drama, but also had moments of acting like more NA aged characters. I think this would have worked a lot better if they had been written up a few years - like keep the same basic story, but with characters in their mid 20s, and write them with the life experience and emotional maturity of characters in their mid 20's.

It was cute. I requested it for the Taylor swift title. I am not a huge romance reader but sometimes it's nice to break things up with a simple romance and that's what this was used for and it did its job.

2 stars for the bi rep!!

unfortunately this book just fell flat to me. I really enjoyed the premise but overall the relationship between maya and skye felt very rushed to the point i couldnt really connect with the characters.

hope to read some of sophie's other works as i did enjoy their writing style.

thank you to netgalley and st. martins press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So, this was kind of sad for me! I wanted to love it. Really, I tried. I was so intrigued by the second chance dating show. Then to see it’s going to have even more drama.

Maya is just kind of rude and Skye is hard to like. The book felt slow at times, and I wasn’t a fan of any of the characters. It just seemed like the book was almost going to be amazing, but it wasn’t quite there. I just think it was hard for me to believe the romance when it had been done kind of like… oh. And I know you’re meant to hate Jordy, but it was just a lot of frustration on my end.

I love this author, and I would read more of her works. This one didn’t work for me, but it may work for those who like happy endings and based off reality tv.

This book was a sweet easy read, and a fun twist on a classic theme. I enjoyed that for the two female main characters, Maya and Skye, being gay isn’t “a whole thing.” They both already know they are. 10/10.

the reason this book isn’t a 5-star is that it was a bit bland. It’s missing a certain level of intensity and emotion. It’s not surprising or incredibly funny. The drama is engrossing but predictable. I would recommend this book to anyone someone who is feeling a bit delicate and wants a soft book with enough drama to keep them entertained, and a happy ending.

This book was so entertaining! I loved that it was set up like a reality show but with a twist. Jordy is trying for a second chance at love with his ex-girlfriends. Except Jordy is awful!!! Maya and Skye are two of the ex-girlfriends and after clearing up a miscommunication, their friendship and relationship grows.
I'm so glad this was dual POV between Maya and Skye so I knew what both of them were thinking and feeling. I switched between the book and audiobook and really enjoyed this one!

Never Ever Getting Back Together is an NA romance book about Maya and Skye, both of whom dated the same guy, Jordi, and got invited to a reality TV show where they get a chance to win him back. Except Maya isn't there to win him back, she's there to get revenge.

I am a BIG Sophie Gonzales fan. I’ve read all of her YA romance books and loved each more than the last. If you haven’t read Perfect on Paper and If This Gets Out, you’re truly missing out. This also meant that my expectations coming into this book were really high, but I’m really sad to say it was a bit of a disappointment.

👍
+ This was quite a fun read. It was funny and easy to read. Especially if you like reality TV, I’m sure you will find this very entertaining. It reminded me of The Charm Offensive in the way it was a forbidden romance within reality TV and bashing the industry for how fake it is.
+ Bi main characters getting revenge! In this sense, it was kind of like Payback’s a Witch.
+ The main guy was such a big asshole, like a misogynistic psychopath (not really exaggerating). This made the revenge aspects of the book feel quite satisfying. Though I wish there was even more!
+ I liked a lot of the side characters in the show. Especially Perrie and Isaac were the most interesting characters IMO (even more than the main characters).

👎
-I didn't understand why this wasn't an adult romance, the concept of second chance at love just doesn't work when you're talking about 18-20 year olds.
- I couldn't connect to either of the main characters. They felt one dimensional, in a way that I couldn't even tell their chapters apart.
- For me the romance seemed to come out of nowhere. Knowing what the pairing was gonna be, I was looking for signs for their growing attraction to each other, but it seemed like after a few “she's hot” comments, we jumped into them kissing.
- There's so much girl hate, especially at the beginning. It does go away but can we just not? Can we just move on from it, especially in this day and age...

Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5, rounded down

Thank you so much to St Martin's Press, Wednesday Books and NetGalley for the eARC!

This story was delightful!

I loved the concept, and the characters. It was so fun to read. I’m always a fan of a bachelor-esque plot, and this one did not disappoint.

This book is a love letter to hate mail for ex-boyfriends. If you have ever read a book or watched a love triangle movie and just thought “Screw that dude just date each other” That is this book. In general this book is just ridiculous fun. I read it in a day.

The story was entertaining and I think fans of the reality dating shows will enjoy it. I really had a problem with the characters ages though, this just didn't seem realistic for 18 year olds. These girls all dated Jordy when they were young teens....the concept just seems more fitting if the characters were all like 10 years older.

Thank you St. Martins Press and Netgalley for this eARC!

I enjoyed the story overall, I am not much of a reality tv person but I actually really enjoyed that aspect of this book, especially with the fun twist. I also loved that it was LGBTQ+. Of course I was drawn to the book by its title, it is very memorable. The cover is also very cute and would stand out to me at the bookstore.

The only thing that was very minor for me was Skye and Maya's age. In my head I kept picturing them as girls in their mid 20's even though they were 18. It seemed to me like they were a little young to be going on a dating reality tv show, but honestly after the beginning of the book I didn't really think about it much. So if that is something that you think will bother you, or has once you've started the book, I encourage you to keep reading because it ends up not being an issue.

I loved the ending, it kept me on the edge of my seat.

This was my first Sophie Gonzales book and I'm excited to check out more.

I adored the premise of Never Ever Getting Back Together. I've never been a big fan of shows like The Bachelor but when I saw this was about two of the contestants falling in love I knew I had to read it. Happy to report that Sophie Gonzales did not disappoint.

Maya and Skye find themselves on a second chance dating show, despite the fact that neither of them really wants their ex back. Which is valid as Jordy is no special gem. In fact all of these girls are better off without him. They're pitted against each other immediately as Jordy cheated on Maya with Skye, and we know how the shows love to up the drama! This puts Maya and Skye in the same room, much to their dismay.

Maya wants vengeance and sometimes this was frustrating as she could see nothing else. She has harbored anger against Jordy for years, and Gonzales did a great job of making that come through,

I loved as they started to work things out and realize that they have feelings for each other, which sets a lot of other things in motion, and I was here for all of it.

My only issue is this is classified as YA, and the main characters are 18 or just over 18, but it read older, I wish they had just been in their early 20's instead, with a little life experience.
