This book is The Bachelor meets John Tucker Must Die. Maya gets the opportunity to go on a reality dating show featuring her ex, Jordy, that cheated on her. After some misunderstandings with the other girls, they decide that Jordy is really the one in the wrong and needs a taste of his own medicine. Overall I really liked this book. It was an interesting plot and even had some LGBTQ+ representation. The book seemed a little drawn out but mostly a cute, fun read.

It was good but very predictable, so I can’t decide if I liked that. I liked the plot, but it just felt a little too long. All of the exes seemed interchangeable and even the dual narrators sounded remarkably similar. It would make a fun movie, but could have been shorter.

Special thanks to St. Martin's Press for the eGalley through NetGalley.

sophie does it again!!

this was an absolute delight. one of the reasons why sophie is one of my autobuy authors is that she writes so many nuanced characters and storylines and this is no different. this book was such a treat. so much fun and a nonstop delight from page one to the very end.

sophie also write bi characters in a way that is so authentic and relatable that is always so personally beautiful to read.

my only qualm is that this could've been na instead of ya? i love a good ya book but given the premise of a reality show about dating it felt a little weird. but all in all it doesn't make it less enjoyable!

and finally i believe in jordy's rights. rights to shut the hell up!

First off, thank you to NetGalley and St. Martian’s Press for letting me read this book early! I enjoyed this book so much and I will for sure be recommending it to people. I love Sophie Gonzales’ writing style and how she shapes her characters and stories. This is the second book that I have read by Gonzales and I will be on the lookout to read more!
This was exactly the kind of cute romcom that I wanted right now and it was such a fun read. I loved the twist on such a popular piece of pop culture and it was so entertaining to read about. I loved the relationship between Maya and Skye and how it was developed throughout the book. I was really happy with how the story turned out and I think it was really well paced and though out. I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who has interests that align with the story.

Maya is one of six ex-girlfriends who agree to star on a new dating show. Jordy, their royal-adjacent globally adored ex, is taking a second chance on romance. But Maya has a plan - he cheated on her and then lied about it and made her look foolish. She is not going to let him get away with it. Will things go according to plan? Especially when, on the first day, Maya finds out she is bunking with Skye, the woman he cheated with.

If you're a fan of reality TV , especially dating shows, this is a fun read. You get to know each ex (some better than others) and witness some of the banter and BS that goes in to these things. Overall it was a 3.5-3.75 for me, so I rounded up to 4. Each chapter is told from Maya or Skye's POV, and Maya is a smart MC until she isn't. Her motivations are clear if not well thought through, but some of her inner monologue didn't land for me as realistic to her character. It also felt like we only skimmed the surface in some areas and I would have liked to learn a bit more about Maya's school situation, for example. Overall though it was a fun read and enjoyed it!

This was such a cute book. A bisexual girl enters a reality dating show. She wants to get back at her ex. She falls for another girl in the show. I really enjoyed the romance. Such a great cheesy sapphic romcom. I really liked the main characters,

Thank you so much NetGalley for the arc!!!

I was so excited to read this book because the plot sounded amazing! I sadly didn’t fall in love with it. There were a lot part about the book that I enjoyed but there were a lot that I didn’t! I loved the characters, all of them but I wish there had been more of an insight into the actual relationship. Like they went from enemies to friends to lovers a little too quickly! There wasn’t a good build up. They ran through the trope. I also wished that the shit talking towards Jordy was more believable. It felt flat for me. I don’t know I feel like there some disconnects throughout the book that I wasn’t expecting. This in reality is more of like 3.70. Which I’m really sad about because this was one of the books I was most excited for this year.

As a reality tv dating competition junkie, I love books that have that component to them, and luckily for me so many books are being published that include reality tv completions. Never Ever Getting Back Together is different from the ones I've read recently because it centers around a contestant who is looking to get revenge on an ex-boyfriend. Jordy is an easy villain to hate. He is narcissistic, manipulative, and so full of himself. He cheated on Maya with Skye and then proceeded to lie to Skye and say that he had ended it way earlier. He also manipulated all of his exes to ensure they would come on the show, which was basically a second-chance at Jordy to find love with women he already dated and broke up with. I liked Maya a lot, and thought that she grew a lot from being laser-focused on revenge to discovering that she needed to take back her power. I also really liked Skye, although it did bother me how much she dismissed Maya's claims in the beginning and how she didn't understand Maya's actions towards the end of the story. I also loved Perrie, who becomes really close to Maya and ends up being a great friend and secret keeper for Maya and Skye. I thought that Maya and Skye's feelings for each other developed at a good pace and didn't feel rushed or forced. And I did like that in the end, there was justice for each of the contestants on the show. Overall this was a very enjoyable book that I would recommend.

You're in for a big treat if you enjoy the drama on reality TV, emphasis on the drama. I'm aware that in YA literature, having a lot of drama is frequently viewed as a negative trait, but in this instance, I assure you that it adds to the enjoyment!

Although I must admit that I don't really enjoy reality TV, for some reason I adore reading about it. And from beginning to end, this book was just... so much fun. I finished reading it in a single sitting since I was having so much fun.

I devoured this book in one sitting. The characters were so funny. Sometimes the MCF was a but immature and the love felt rushed, but I really enjoyed it.

Although the synopsis reveals WAY too much information, this book had THE best first chapter EVER!!

Anyways, I loved this book! There were such epic lines, the ending was amazing, with a great moral to it!!

Sophie Gonzales's latest young adult novel is told from the dual perspectives of protagonists Skye and Maya during their time on teen reality tv show Second-Chance Romance, where they compete against each other for a second chance at love with their shared ex-boyfriend Jordy Miller. Maya is only competing in order to publicly reject Jordy and get back at him for cheating on him with Skye, while Skye has hopes of getting her shot at an actual second chance with Jordy. When Skye learns of the cheating, however, the two decide to work together to take Jordy down, one way or another. What they don't expect, however, is to fall for one another in the process.

This book was so much fun! Both Skye and Maya are incredibly likeable characters, and it's impossible not to root for their romance. As an antagonist, Jordy is perfect as well, he's so misogynistic and ego-driven, with absolutely no redeeming qualities, guaranteeing the reader to root for his downfall and the success of Maya and Skye. This so easily could have been a book that pitted girls against each other, and Sophie's conscious choice to create solidarity and allow for friendship between all of the contestants made for such a heartwarming read. We love girls supporting girls! I also think this may have been the first novel I've read where both romantic leads identify as bisexual, and I loved how open both Maya and Skye were about their identities, and especially enjoyed that biphobia didn't play a part in the book.

A compulsively readable rom-com with a feminist message, Never Ever Getting Back Together has all the drama you'd expect from a reality dating show- and twice the heart. Don't miss out on this one!

Okay, I LOVED this book. Once I could sit down and read it, I sped through it. Maya and Skye are absolutely compelling, even if you’re not sure who you want to win more. The fact that Skye and Maya are bi and discuss relationships with both men and women means so much to me as we often see bisexual characters reduced to stereotypes that are untrue. I could really spend a whole book just hearing about the adventures of all the contestants on Second-Chance Romance.

I was lucky enough to read this Advanced Reader's Copy through my partnership with NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

If you like reality dating shows, then this book is for you. Maya and Skye are invited to participate on Second Chance Romance to see if she can rekindle her relationship with Jordy, their now famous ex-boyfriend. One is determined to seek revenge and the other is open to see if they can have another chance at love but then the two girls happen to fall in love with each other. Maya and Skye were relatable and you couldn’t help but cheer for them. I found this book entertaining and a quick read. I would definitely recommend!

All I can say is we needed less jordy and more of Maya and Skye! I definitely enjoyed this cute read! I was glad to see the girls give Jordy what he deserved! The book had great pacing and kept me interested!

If you love reality TV drama, with emphasis on the drama, you're in for a huge treat. I know having a lot of drama is often seen as a bad quality in YA books, but in this case I promise it's part of the fun!

The concept of this book - having a dating show where the contestants are the guy's exes - is so incredibly fun, and this book lives up to it entirely. Jordy was truly the worst, and I loved the main characters overcoming the drama he set them up for and falling in love with each other.

"Never Ever Getting Back Together" is the latest in a string of light romance novels set in the world of fictional "The Bachelor" franchises.

A group of six women is chosen to date Jordy, someone they at least briefly dated or hooked up with, in an attempt to rekindle whatever there was to begin with. Everyone has their own agenda but Maya and Skye are the only ones who seem to have been hurt by Jordy and have a connection. General mean girl behavior ensues until the truth comes to light, as well as some other feelings.

"Never Ever Getting Back Together" is a quick, mostly clean, fun romcom that's enough of a departure from the other similar books coming out that it didn't make me feel like I had deja vu. Four stars for keeping my attention and being just swoon-worthy enough.

** spoiler alert ** Thanks to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is a great hating-to-dating book because Maya and Skye legitimately hate each other the first third of the book. About halfway through they begin to acknowledge their attraction to each other, which is rare and something I enjoyed off the bat.

There is some really witty banter, especially when Maya is talking with Jordy.

After the initial misunderstanding between Skye and Maya is cleared up, there is really no girl-on-girl hating. All of the 'contestants' were very supportive and understanding of each other (it really helps that Jordy is kind of the worst).

I really enjoy a good takedown of a massive douche, which this book happily provides. It's a slow reveal of just how awful Jordy is which makes the ending even sweeter.

If you're looking for super steamy, this isn't it (closed door but lots of making out). Sometimes the chemistry between Maya and Skye felt a little forced, but overall, this book was extremely cute! I love the premise, the side characters were great and I would definitely recommend!

For being a YA (sapphic) version of the Bachelor, this was a fun time and I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading it. Was it perfect? No, not at all. Am I a sucker for all books that have a basis in reality-TV plots? Yes, 100%. Jordy was the most annoying, pretentious man of all time and it was so fun to hate him and have him get what he deserved. Skye and Maya were a lot of fun too, and their's is the only miscommunication trope that I 100% understand and believe contributed to the plot. Not much else to say except while I might not read it again, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick, fun, sapphic story that involves revenge, reality TV, jello shots, and awful ex-boyfriends!
