Fun and fluffy this is a great read for teens and adults!
Sophie Gonzales manages to incorporate social media and modern technology in a natural and humorous way that some books find difficult but in “Never Ever Getting Back Together” the relationship between the characters and reality tv and social media is a main plot device and helps drive the story along.
Throwing typical “fake dating” tropes on its head, this story finds two girls, Maya and Skye, on a dating show where their mutual ex Jordy is trying to re kindle his past romances and hopefully find true love in an old love.
While Maya and Skye get off to a rocky and some might say hostile start, they find common ground as feelings between them grow instead of towards their “eligible bachelor” Jordy.

Sophie Gonzales could have easily taken a route that pit Jordy’s ex’s against each other in the reality dating show and I was excited and glad to see she did not take that route and instead, with a couple clever storylines, showed women supporting women and banding together.

A fun, light read this romance took an unusual route to a lot of YA romances in a way that will delight and capture readers. Queer representation is normalized and while an integral part of the plot, the characters and story are so much more than that.

Will definitely be recommending and adding to displays!

A sapphic romcom starring two disaster bisexuals in a messed up love triangle on a reality TV show that focuses on all the exes of a guy that is literally scum of the earth? Consider me very intrigued.
First off I think that the idea of this book was great and I think it was executed well in a lot of ways. I also think there were a lot of things that could have been done better?
- I really liked the romance in the later part of the book but I don’t think it was very well developed. Like it kind of materializes out of nowhere somewhat.
- I think Jordy is literally one of the most despicable characters I’ve ever read about and he can get run over by a truck. The entire time I was screaming in my head about how all of these girls could do so much better and it was so beyond frustrating to read them fawning over a guy like Jordy but I guess that was kind of the point.
- The main characters seemed a bit interchangeable to me at first honestly, I couldn’t really tell who was who sometimes at the beginning though this got a lot better throughout the book and I began to enjoy them both individually. Maya frustrated me a lot though because she wouldn’t even consider the fact that Jordy may have lied to Skye as well as her? Like it made very little sense to me. The side characters however were pretty interchangeable throughout the whole thing, excluding Issac and Perrie, I could not tell the difference between the rest of the girls or producers. Though I did really love Issac and Perrie heh.
- I don’t watch all that much reality tv but I did enjoy reading it in this book. However it did seem a little unrealistic to me how they had no cameras set up in the mansion like at all? It just seemed like for them to go through the trouble of putting Maya and Skye in a room together for drama that they would have no way of filming it. Other than that though I thought it made for good plot, drama, and readability so I’m not that upset about it.
- I liked the tropes Sophie Gonzales used and I really enjoyed how fun the writing was. It was super sarcastic and that made it really easy for me to read.
These are my main thoughts but overall I really enjoyed this and it was super quick to read for such a long book. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cute, dramatic, and fun sapphic read since we all know everything is better when it’s sapphic honestly. After this I am really interested in checking out Sophie Gonzales other works.

I really wanted to enjoy this book I just think that this one wasn’t for me. I wasn’t a fan of the main character which I think what pulled me away from the story. I enjoyed the plot of the book but I was a bit confused as to why they were so young and why it was a young adult novel. I personally feel like it would of been much better as a adult romance book. I felt very disconnected by the book and the characters. I love the idea of two bi girls falling in love but this book didn’t do it for me. I definitely feel like it a personal thing and I’m sure other people will definitely enjoy it. Just not for me.

This book was everything I wanted it to be. Absolutely had me cackling at the end. Loved the enemies to friends to lovers relationship between Maya and Skye. 10/10

I am a huge fan of reality show romance novels so I was so thrilled the get into this book!
It was a strong sell being a sapphic romance for me as well.
I did enjoy the overall story, but did encounter some things that brought down my rating.

Pros- I absolutely loved the themes and premise of this book. It was really fun to read about dating reality show challenges and some of the other contestants. Jordy was a great character to hate and I think that is pivotal in making him the villain of sorts!

Cons- I feel as though we didn’t get that much development of our main girls. With this being a dual POV book, I had a hard time distinguishing characters from each other and a lot of their motivations were hard to follow. The characters’ ages as well were a bit of a con for me as they seemed too young to be in this type of reality show. That being said, this is a YA novel so the ages and interactions can sometimes be a bit fickle and over the top, but hey, have you ever met a teenager? Because of these things I wasn’t overly attached to the characters and had a hard time picturing them.

Overall, it was a super fun read! If you’re into dating shows and revenge, I would highly recommend this book. It is a fun little romance that doesn’t take itself too seriously and has fun with its characters and content

I thought I knew exactly what to expect when I started Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales, but I had an entirely different adventure! I loved the fact that this book did not only focus on "getting the guy." In fact, Gonzales turns that trope on its head. I enjoyed getting to know the characters as they continued to learn more about themselves. Well, everyone except for Jordy.

In this story, Maya is invited to join a reality show where her ex, Jordy, will spend time with the girls he dated to see if maybe he had missed "the one." Maya is forced to confront the girl that Jordy cheated on her with, Skye, but it doesn't not turn out the way Maya expects.

I enjoyed the expected twists, and loved watching characters fall in love.

Gonzales's newest work is a cute, fun read with a nice little twist. Following bisexual young adult Maya as she enters a reality show to get revenge on her ex, Jordy, and vie for his attention against his other exes was a humorous and entertaining journey. Gonzales creates wonderful cast of characters that you will love and hate, seriously Jordy really is the worst, and will keep you turning the pages wanting more. The side characters are well developed, the European setting is vivid and fitting for such an outrageous romp through contemp. rom-com territory, and the conclusion is enough of a twist that readers will not be left disappointed.

The book Never ever getting back together By Sophie Gonzales releasing on Dec 6th 2022. Is about a girl who enters a dating competition to get back on her cheating boyfriend. This book is a teen Ya group type of book. But an enjoyable read and something I would read just for fun. I would have to give this book a 4.5 star rating so they some part of it the are corny but other parts of it that are great.

I would recommend this book to anyone who love reading YA this book is for you. I enjoyed this Book a something enjoy reading YA book my self.

I swear every book I read this year I'm like "Oh, new favorite book?"
This book was no exception.

Reasons I Love This Book:
• Taylor Swift themed title. Enough said. Drop the mic. Reason enough to read it.
• Awful guy gets what's coming to him.
• While at the beginning it may not seem likely, especially with the type of reality TV show it is, female friendships/relationships are forefront in this novel. Learning to not view each other as competition, learning that cishet men cannot be trusted...
• Two girls looking for some revenge on a guy get it in the best way - by falling in love with each other!
• This made me laugh at loud at some very awkward moments in time. But it was absolutely worth it for how witty this book is.
• Our two MCs grow throughout the entire book - even at the very end, they are learning more about themselves.
• The only lack of communication in this book is due to the fact that people genuinely cannot communicate with each other (everybody being cut off from the outside world, being separated for the finale, etc.)

In all, I love this book. It's so funny and is everything I’ve wanted from a reality TV show. And it's got such a satisfying ending. Cannot recommend this enough!

On the other hand, i really liked Skye! she was the only one who actually had a personality.
Jordi, well, i really hate him BUT i had a great time hating on him.
So, yeah, overall it was fun and an easy read!.

I read and really enjoyed Sophie Gonzales's last two YA rom-coms (Perfect on Paper and If This Gets Out) so Never Ever Getting Back Together was easily one of my most anticipated books of the year. Happily, it didn't disappoint at all! The idea of a reality TV show where some re-dates all of their exes is extremely fun, and adding in Maya and Skye's a revenge scheme to expose Jordy as a scumbag cheater made it even better. The way that the book explored the truth behind reality TV by showing how many moments were scripted or just plain fake was absolutely hilarious and really appealed to me as a lover of behind the scene trivia about movies. The contrast between Jordy's charismatic public persona and his asshole real self was so exasperating that I spent the whole book hoping Maya and Skye managed to use the show to expose what he was really like.

I think my favorite part of this book is the way that it refused to engage in girl-on-girl hate or fighting over a boy–Skye and Maya originally get off on the wrong foot because of Jordy's lies, but once they realize the truth they're happy to team up, and the other girls on the show are never made out to be villains because they're still interested in Jordy or want to become famous. I also loved the developing romance between the two main characters and how it evolved from simply plotting together to having real feelings. This book absolutely proves that "in cahoots together" is a delightful romance dynamic that more books should use.

Overall, this was such a fun read with so much humor, a really great romance, and an awful villain who I desperately wanted to see get his comeuppance. Sophie Gonzales really is emerging as a queen of YA rom-coms and she's already become one of my auto-read authors.

Sophie Gonzales is an instant read for me nowadays, so when I was approved for the ARC of this, I was so excited. Sophie has a really great ability to write fantastic characters and witty dialogue. For some reason, however, this book fell short for me. I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed all the characters, but Maya really annoyed me throughout this entire book. I wanted more growth from her, and I didn't see any of that until the very tale end of the book, and even then, it wasn't until the situation was plastered on live TV for her to realize that the path she was taking was going to be her downfall. I'm glad she finally got her shit together, but Lord, was my patience tested.

I did find it a bit unbelievable that none of these other women saw Jordy for who he was; it was statistically impossible. Then again, we just one of the biggest trials of the year show how much this country hates women, so actually perhaps it is believable that everyone was ready to wank off to Jordy because he was conventionally attractive white dude.

All in all, this wasn't Sophie's best work, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The bi-representation was great, and yay to W/W rom com. And not to spoil anything, but Jordy getting his just desserts was a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Reality tv isn't real. I really enjoyed this story about ex-girlfriends being given a second chance. I didn't like that this show within the novel was featuring young adults between 18 and 2o. Seriously, even if you felt your high school love was the love of your life, I don't see an 18 year old spending the summer before freshman year in college to go on a reality tv show trying to win back her ex. Obviously, she didn't plan to win him back and really wanted to expose him but still I felt it was a little farfetched. And the producer stated motivations such as people change, issues such as distance might not matter as much, and other excuses for breaking up that I just don't feel recent high school grads would be facing.

The relationships between the girls on the show were great. They start out with emotional baggage, but I felt that the character growth was organic and not too forced. I'm glad it had a version of a happily ever after ending even if it wasn't the ending I expected.

I’d call this “the most dramatic book ever”! If you’re a fan of any of the Bachelor franchise you need to read this! I devoured this book. Omg it was absolutely amazing. It felt like I was watching an episode of the bachelor! I’ve never read a book like this and I enjoyed it so much. It was interesting to read about all of the backstage stuff that more than likely actually happens when filming a “reality” show. All the characters were well developed and I definitely loved the enemies to friends to lovers trope. Jordy felt like every Bachelor guy that’s screwed over the women of the show and I absolutely loved that. He gave me very much Juan Pablo vibes (if you caught his season). All in all 5 million stars for this one. I can’t wait to read another Sophie Gonzales

I was so excited when I found out I got an ARC of this book from NetGalley (thank you, thank you, thank you!)

Starting off this story, we get to know both Maya and Skye. Maya is getting ready to go to college, and Skye is traveling around Europe. What these two women have in common is that they both dated Jordy, and neither relationship ended in the most mutual fashion. One day, they both get called up to join a new reality dating show where the contestant re-dates their exes to see if the spark is still there. Maya enters the competition with the hopes of getting her revenge on Jordy for all he put her through. Skye, however, enters wondering if there truly is something left between her and Jordy. Initially, Skye and most of the other girls are buying into Jordy’s “good guy” routine, but eventually Maya is able to break through to Skye. The two form a bond by deciding to try and win the competition before rejecting Jordy, and from there sparks begin to fly. I won’t talk too much mor about details because that would ruin the fun!

Something I love about this book is that it makes it 100% clear from the beginning that Jordy is trash. He cheated on Maya and then gaslit both her and Skye in a variety of ways. These are both described as facts, and many of the other characters notice Jordy’s disgusting behavior throughout the book as well. I find it interesting to read books that incorporate reality shows, especially why the story also happens to be LGBTQ+. As someone who is a fan of The Charm Offensive, this book hooked me. The struggles were realistic, the romantic development was so satisfying to read, and the payoff for Jordy at the end made me laugh so hard. I fell in love with this book as soon as I started reading, and I can’t wait to get a physical copy to add to my bookshelf!

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkk I see you! Lol Never Ever Getting Back together made me feel like I was on the Bachelor tv show! This “Second Chance Romance” show where Maya, Skye (ex girlfriends) of The infamous Jordy Miller get a second chance to be with him however Maya is just seeking revenge! I loved this book it had me hooked from the very first sentence I felt like I was binge watching a Netflix show! Jordy is arrogant cocky born rich and his sister married into royalty giving him the perks of being famous and thinking he can get away with every single kind of “player” manipulator narcissistic behaviour possible. Maya and Skye are enemies due to Maya thinking Skye broke her and Jordy up 2 years ago however the two find out some pretty interesting details of their relationship and how similar it really was! This book was fun, cute, and easy to read!

Ok. This book was fun, frustrating, flirty and fantastic. The road was windy but full of fun characters (and some assholes), and a delightful plot. I couldn’t see just where it was going until the end, but I loved the ride. And I think the ending was perfect.

Definitely a great read if you love a feel good, lgbt rep romcom!

Sophie Gonzales has done it again! As a fan of her YA work, I was extremely excited to see her branch out into the sapphic adult space and y'all, Never Getting Back Together did not dissapoint.

Maya and Skye feel like such complex, real characters that'd never expect to find themselves on this kind of second chance dating show and Jordy is the perfect "villian" that we love to hate.

I was worried at first how the author would handle the ladies' reconciliation since their initial reception is so chilly but Sophie does an amazing job at teaming them up and ultimately coupling them up 😉

If you're into catty girl fights ala The Bachelor, sapphics that'll make you swoon and terrible royal-adjacent exes getting what they deserve, then this book is absolutley for you!

Highly recommend, can't wait to see more from Sophie in the future.

This is essentially the premise for The One that Got Away on amazon. The main characters Maya and Skye, in addition to several other exs, travel to Chalonne to re-date their ex Jordy on a reality TV Sho. Jordy also happens to be part of the royal family there but this isn't a key element to the plot.

As someone who loves reality TV I thought this would be right up my alley but unfortunately I was wrong. This book is not very well executed. I almost DNF'ed this book a million times. Some things that bothered me:
- The context given on Jordy is pretty minimal, he meets Maya in America, Skye in Canada, and is from Europe (Chalonne, which they say is a country but?) they don't explain why he has travelled around so much or give much information on his meetings with the girls on the show.
- This is a dual narrative book but it is very hard to differentiate Maya and Skye
- This book just generally lacks a vibe and comes across very disorganized. You never really get a sense for any of the characters and they don't seem very fleshed out.
- The characters are mostly in their teens still. Who is trying to find love in their teens? How has Jordy had so many previous relationships at this point? They need to at least be in their 20s
- In a reality TV context this doesn't make much sense. They film and air the episodes on the same week by week basis? Where are they finding time to edit and make the narratives? Reality TV typically happens months before it actually airs. Also, they don't seem to have any cameras or recording occurring in the mansion they are staying in yet they purposely put the girls together to create drama. What is the point of housing them all together if they aren't even filming all of it? Part of me questions how much reality TV the author has watched.
- A lot of the events in the book also just don't make much sense - when Maya plans to rescue Skye in the Kayak? Maya gets "Stuck" on the cliff face? So poorly executed.
- The romance between Maya and Skye, essentially just materializes, it's not believable to me in the slightest.

I went into this story having no idea what to expect, as this it my first read by this Author. After reading it, however, I MUST read her others!

This is a story about a reality dating show where the male MC, Jordy, has to try to find love again among his exes. It begins with back stories of 2 of his exes, Maya and Skye, and why they are even considering going on TV with this guy. The show has us believing that Maya and Skye are supposed to be sworn enemies, as Skye is the girl that Jordy cheated with while he was still with Maya. Maya is out for revenge, but eventually she and Skye hit it off and strike up a deal to expose Jordy on national television for the creep that he is. But neither of them planned on finding love again! How hard will it be to see the girl you're falling for, flirting with the guy who wrecked you? Even if it is just for show? Is it worth it in the end? Read it and find out!

4 stars and looking forward to adding this one to my permanent collection!
