Needless to say, I am actually addicted to this series!

The story starts with a wedding that is held in a hotel during the Christmas week. During the weeding, the bridesmaid, Rachel who also happened to be the bride's younger sister went missing after a drunken argument. Within few hours, Rachel's body was found, beaten to death. One of the guests at the wedding must be responsible for the murder and nearly most of the wedding guests had been not getting along with Rachel.

From start to finish, I was really gripped by this thriller. Though it is DI James Walker series, the author somehow introduces all the main characters at the beginning of the story so if you are a first time reader of the series, then you would get to know the characters before hand! I like the fact that the author did a good job of making the reader feel like they are a part of the story and I was really hooked into the story from the start to finish. The ending was completely unexpected and overall, this was a fast paced thriller filled with twists and turns and unputdownable.

If you are looking for Christmas thrillers or love reading Christmas thrillers, then this one is for you--worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

This is the third book in this series and they are getting better as the characters are bedding in more. The author has also become more assured with his writing style, which makes a read with plenty of pace and a gripping plot. Will definitely be looking out for more; this is a writer to watch.

3.5 stars
A big, fancy wedding just took place and it is now time for the speeches. Everyone is waiting for the maid of honor but it appears she has gone missing. DI James Walker is called in to help with the missing person case when they soon find a body. This is an enjoyable detective story with a good setting. Some parts were a little slow to me but overall it was a nice mystery. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone as I haven’t read the first two but didn’t have any trouble.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK, and the author for this ARC.

This was a fairly good police procedural, it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the Adam Fawley books by Cara Hunter but there were elements that reminded of them. I liked the classic setting, it yet again shows the influence Agatha Christie has on writers today. This is 3rd book in the series and in all honesty I won’t be going back to read the previous, it a good read but not brilliant. Would be good for a lazy winter day but don’t expect too much

I've loved both books in this series the past two years: stepping into a cosy small town at winter, only for the peace and quiet that they all know to be shattered.
This was a fast paced enjoyable read, it kept me guessing (although a twist that I saw coming...) and I enjoyed catching up with DI James Walker.

I wanted to get a copy of the first two books in this series, but haven’t managed to do so yet.So I was delighted to receive a copy of this book. The book starts with a wedding on New Year’s Eve, when Greg Murphy, the owner of the hotel chain, married his girlfriend Libby. Before long, the maid of honour, disappears. DI James Walker is called in when a body is found. He and his team investigate and discover many of the guests have a motive. Who is the murderer? I kept trying to second guess the murderer and it was the end of the book before i discovered who it was..
I really enjoyed this story. It held my interest, was an easy read and I felt I could connect with the characters. I was disappointed when it finished. I will certainly read the first two books in the series now.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Avon books for an arc copy of this seasonal story.

A Killer Amongst Them…?
The third in the DI James Walker series of mysteries and Cumbria is getting festive. Christmastime is past and the New Year beckons, a wedding is underway and Walker on festive leave. A phone call at the witching hour puts a damper on Walker’s holiday stint - a missing wedding guest is causing much consternation and it’s not too long before a lake is being searched for body. Is one of the wedding guests a killer? Enjoyable whodunnit with a well crafted cast of characters, an intriguing storyline and an engaging narrative. An ideal Christmas crime for the armchair amateur sleuth.

Having read the author’s previous two books I couldn’t wait to read this one. Lovely book cover. Sadly I felt this one was no where near as good as the previous books. I enjoyed it. But I didn’t have that hooked feeling where I couldn’t put the book down. It was very slow paced. The ending was abrupt also.

This book is the 3rd in the DI James Walker series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I really liked the mystery around who the killer was and the fact that there was several likely suspects. It had me guessed until the very end of the book. It’s a solid detective story that I would definitely recommend!

I found The Winter Killer impossible to put down. It’s a gripping thriller of a read that kept me entertained from start to finish. It’s a police procedural set in the Lake District and begins at the wedding of local businessman Greg Murphy and his bride to be Libby on New Year’s Eve. They’re in the middle of celebrating their nuptials when it becomes apparent one of the guests is missing. And as the clock strikes midnight, DI James Walker receives a phone call and he and his team are called in to search for a body. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

DI James Walker is back for a fresh Murder case in Cumbria. There’s a posh wedding in a posh hotel where the brides sister winds up dead. And it’s up to Walker and his team to find out who killed her, and why. And he makes some surprising discoveries along the way.

This is another page turner from this author. I love this series of books because they’re so simplistic. We have a murder and someone to solve that murder, without too many other confusing storylines, which can happen with some books. The chapters were short, but full of relevant twists and turns. The writing is good, and so easy to read because it flows quickly and well. The characters are all well written and likeable.I would highly recommend all this authors work.

The Maid of Honor is missing from a prestigious wedding, that is until she turns up dead. With tensions running high, the bridal party are in disarray. Luckily DI james walker is on the case.

I had read the first book in the series, the Christmas killer, but I didn’t read the second instalment, it doesn’t seem to of mattered as I kept up with the storyline just as well. I would say this book is for someone looking for a quick and easy read, with a basic ‘who dunnit’ theme. I personally didn’t feel connected or captivated by any of the characters in this particular book. Nor did I find the storyline to be exceptional. But none the less the story is worth a read from any mystery lovers.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope he writes more! I am totally hooked!

The Winter Killer is a gripping detective novel filled with interesting characters, police procedures, and a very cozy winter setting. This book is the third in the DI James Walker series. I had not read either of the other two but that did not detract from this book. Moreover, after finishing The Winter Killer, I will absolutely being going back and reading the other two novels.

In The Winter Killer, Jessica Abbott is attending the wedding of one of her fiancée's golf friends. After the ceremony, the maid-of-honor goes missing and soon Walker is called in to investigate. Friends, family, and guests are all questioned with many secrets being revealed. I felt I was part of the investigation along side James, and I honestly was kept guessing until the end. Definitely a fun, five star read!

This is the third installment in the series but can be read as a standalone. The police procedural works as it doesn't rely on standard plot lines even though I had worked out the killer, but I read far too much.

The ending sets up the new book so well.

I was given an advance copy by net galley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own

I'm not usually a fan of detective novels but this was decent. I loved the setting. It really set it apart. The mystery was riveting and kept me guessing to the final conclusion.

I am so glad I requested this book!

The third in the DI James Walker series this book was just S food as the first two. I love the Cumbrian winter setting in all of the novels and the way the author keeps you gripped and guessing to the end.

Alex Pine is becoming a must read author for me and I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a chilling crime thriller this winter.

Awesome 5 🌟
As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, DI James Walker receives a phone call that puts paid to his Christmas break. During the wedding of the year at a lakeside hotel, the bride’s sister has vanished. When Rachel left the wedding breakfast before her speech, newly-wed Libby was furious. But as the night went on with no sign of her maid-of-honour, Libby started to realise something was very, very wrong…Before the wedding night is out, the lake is being searched for a body. Something old, something new. One guest is a killer. The question is: who?
Loved it very much. Highly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me an advance copy.
