A fun, quick reading about fitting in and making friends....a little unrealistic at times, but nice to see that the top dog doesn't always win.

I am honestly baffled by how bad this book is. I thought it was going to be a humorous satire but it is ridiculously stupid. Grown women acting like junior high girls scared to stand up to a bully even if it could cost them their integrity and marriages? I kept waiting for it to get better but it got worse. No plot twists, toxic characters, treating sexual assault like a joke….just no redeeming qualities. Thank you NatGalley for the ARC.

Did not finished. I read this book thinking it would be written for an older audience but found the contents to be rather highschool. I wasn’t fond of any of the characters and found most of the themes to be problematic and dark.

This book was...well, it made me sad. These women were just not good, and they had zero respect for themselves. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers of BooksGoSocial this ebook.

This book was something else. This turn a bit darker than I have anticipated. Mean girls but older. I didn't care for was how many characters there were and how toxic they are. So I couldn't connect or even like them.

I felt like I was transported back to where I lived when I was raising my daughter... Are you sure this isn't supposed to be an Orange County, CA neighborhood????? These women...... but I loved how Beth managed to navigate all of the pettiness and witchiness witha B from the neighborhood drama queens.. Laugh out loud amusing!

One of my all-time favorite books. Who hasn’t felt like they had a target on their backs when dealing with cliques? It’s hard to stay mad at the mean girls because the plot is pulling on you.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley to review.
This book had a familiar Queen Bee trope with some sharp writing. However, at times it became overblown and so less engaging as it was less realistic. I liked the different perspectives shown in this book, although it was frustrating that certain things were hinted at earlier in the novel but not followed through on. The book wrapped up pretty quickly too.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t really enjoy this book unfortunately, I found the characters unpleasant and totally unrealistic and the storylines were basic and a bit childish. Sorry 😞

I really wanted to love this book. I have a mommy clique neighborhood and I just thought it would be perfect.
However I couldn’t get further than 13%. There were too many characters to keep up with. And I didn’t really believe how mean the queen bee was.

Beth moves back to her hometown to take care of her ailing mother. She has no idea what else she is getting into. Elise is a mom who basically all the other mothers flock to - they gossip and do whatever they have to to be a part of Elise’s clique.

As a mom of school-age children, this was one that hit close to home. I have seen the stereotypical “perfect mom” that all the others flock to, and I know what it’s like to just want to fit in - not just for yourself but for your children as well. It was interesting to see all the moms involved in this “clique” and their insecurities brought to light.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the review copy!

Even mommies can be bullies. Jeez! One of my fear with my new upcoming journey as a mom is finding a group of moms that seem to have their shit together and me wanting to learn from them but they're complete assholes and bullies.

What in the world did I just read? I understand there are moms out there that are so superficial they think their world revolves around their social children's school lives but this was bordering on insane. The women have no respect for themselves, let alone their families and so called "friends". I sympathized with Beth trying to let her children fit in with other kids at school by using the kids at the bus stop as a buffer. Even so, Elise was a wannabe and literally lived for the drama of her life.

Elise's expectations to stay perfect so her husband won't cheat and yet she can't even trust him because he is such a go-getter to clearly hook other women into his charm is just so cringeworthy. Don't even get me started about the pool party. I honestly felt like this book did nothing to improve literature in general or the book community as a whole.

Some of the characters also do NOT respect their children's bodies and try to count calories so they will not gain weight, all very unhealthy to me to bring this up and continue to glorify it. I am also not sure what the author's intent was to write this. Did she go through something similar and wanted to talk about the group of moms that did her wrong? Maybe she could have written about how the moms ended up learning their lessons sooner rather than later or at least let their guards down once they learn about Beth's mother's situation and the fact that she has a lot going on moving back to her childhood town to become a caretaker. Maybe those ladies in her group could have seen themselves and looked within themselves to really find compassion for other people, but I just did not want to get through this garbage of a plot.

There were so many grammatical errors too near the beginning, it was all so cringe and I cannot recommend this book at all, to anyone! I pray Barbara is given another chance at writing another book with more depth and possibly not about mom social circles. I am leaving my honest review in exchange for an ARC, thanks to Net Galley, Barbara Altamirano and BooksGoSocial.

Thank you to Netgalley and Go Social Books for sending me this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly speaking, this book just wasn’t for me. These women were just mean, manipulative, vain and just plain toxic.
As soon as Elise thought that her daughter, who happens to be in 5th grade, looked a little too “curvy” and that she should probably cook up something out of a diet cookbook, I lost all interest.
I pushed through it though, hoping that somehow it would get better but sadly it didn’t. the way these women acted was just so wrong, they were setting such bad examples for their daughters.
Poor Beth and her daughter were treated like rubbish for no reason at all.
I did not finish this book after reading about 5 chapters & just couldn’t go on.

If you’ve ever been a preschool mom, a PTO Kim, wanted to fit in with all the snobby mommies / this is a story for you. The pace was a little slow but I enjoyed the character development.

This book is basically what happens when the high school mean girls grow up to become moms. It was a quick and entertaining read, definitely recommend.

2.5 stars, rated up to 3.

The premise seemed interesting, but the actual book was a lot darker, less humorous and too one-sided for this to be a light-hearted and entertaining read. The characters were just mean and passive-aggressive. Adding to that, our "target" character did not even have a group of outcasts to be with that could have added a little bit more humor and light to the story. This ended up being a classic bullying story with a revenge plot, and didn't really own up to the being yourself / standing up for yourself and winning redemption story.

Side note: Some of the characters in here were just downright awful and disgusting and this behavior was hardly acknowledged or dealt with it.
