Sometimes we grown tired of stories about wild and heartbreaking dysfunction--this book gives you the good vibes, but it isn't cheesy and silly. A great family story that doesn't leave you broken.

Julie is about to marry a man she doesn’t particularly like. She knows he is only after her inheritance. When her beloved grandmother, Aunt Edwina, suddenly dies the night before the wedding, she goes ahead with it for her sake.

Aunt Edwina has left Julie a painting and a riddle to solve to find out more about her family history. Julie and her cousin Gertie embark on an adventure that sees them travelling around Southern England. Each clue leads them to a place and person that was important in Aunt Edwina’s life. One clue leads to the next when a new riddle is found and must be solved before they can move on.

I have to admit this story had me completely lost. I didn’t like Julie at all. She admits not having feelings for Chris but marries him anyway, then leaves without explanation and complains about him constantly. We don’t get any information on Chris before the wedding so it’s hard to hate him.

I did love Gertie, the defrocked, karaoke singing priest. She brought some humour to the story.
The chapters on Genealogy and forms of research were interesting and informative. I found the story over described in places and really dragged for me. 2.5 stars

After the death of her beloved Aunt Edwina, Julie Fincher leaves her gold-digging unfaithful new husband to set off with her cousin on a family history treasure hunt in accordance with her late Aunt's wishes. This is a charming novel full of quirky likable characters. Although it is set in the present day, it has a sweetly old-fashioned feel to it. The story is interesting and in many ways informative about such topics as locations in Southern England and antiques. There is a sweet undercurrent of romance throughout the book. However, if you are interested in books where the romance is a more overt part of the story, it may not be satisfying enough for you. This book is the first in a planned series so read at your own risk if you don't like getting caught up in book series.

This book is a good pick for people who enjoy genealogy and treasure hunts. Julie Fincher is in a relationship with a man she is has her doubts about, but she marries him to please her family. She leaves him the next day for excellent reasons. Her beloved aunt passes away the day after the wedding, and has left a request for Julie, a mystery to solve that involves her haring all over the country following clues.

The book was just okay for me, as I could not understand why she would stay with a man whom she really didn't like. I enjoyed the discoveries she made about her Aunt Edwina's first love, and being reminded of the sacrifices British people made during World War II.

I received a review copy of this book from Friesen Press via NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I felt like I was going thru the English countryside as Julie and her friends followed Aunt Edwina’s clues that helped them find out their life’s purpose and along the way new friends and some adventure.

This is an Hines review of ARC I received from NetGalley.

This is a good, fun and easy to read book that I think most people would enjoy for what it is. It isn't in-depth but is just good light-hearted clean reading.

The story is one of adventure, friendship and fun and the story is very entertaining. A book to read when you just feel like a 'Feel Good' read.

I really wanted to like this story but I found it to be a bit unbelievable unfortunately. It was all a bit too easy how the lead character and her cousin were able to figure out these clues in a after-death treasure hunt.

This was a wonderful story of bringing the past and the present together. It reminds us how important knowing about our ancestors is. It is cozy and comforting while the characters go on a scavenger hunt to better understand an aunt who has passed away. The characters are likeable and multidimensional. The story is fun and makes you want to keep reading. There is heartbreak, and love. A quirky cast of supporting characters adds to the color of the story. You never know what they will find next on their hunt. It shows how we live in a big world, but are all connected in ways we may not anticipate. A heartwarming read that is an absolute must!

As I don't read the blurb before trying a book I didn't know what to expect but it is brilliant. Different storyline to many other types of novels but one that I will read again at a later date. Very well thought out and written, well worth 5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC

Once I got past the exhaustive list of characters, the story was funny and very well-told. I actually fond myself referring back to the list. however, it almost made me put the book down before I started the first chapter.
