I didn't really enjoy this one. However I did learn a little bit about Hollywood and movie stars with this one.

This book is an archive of quick stories about movie stars that are dug out of archives and old interviews. Not all the stories were interesting (or surprising) and some were a little odd. It's a book to dip into and pick stories of the stars one would like to read more about. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

Though some of the stories are fascinating, It's hard to take them seriously when they're either told from third-person accounts or taken from biographies. I enjoyed them more when I released myself from the burden of caring if they were true or not.

Entertaining trawl through a few stories of our movie people. Some new, most have been told elsewhere. Few hours diversion.

As movie buff; I found this book to be a delightful distraction from real life. Split into smaller sections, it's easy to read a bit here and there without making a major commitment.
Many of the tales revolve around stars and movies from yesteryear so younger people may lack familiarity with some.
Overall, it's a light, breezy read and I recommend it to anyone interested in cinema trivia.

In the midst of all the turmoil in the world, this book is an absolutely needed respite from it all. Each of these 122 plus tidbits are like delicious appetizers - you don't have to read it all in one sitting or even sequentially -- just take pleasure in picking up this book and finding out some little known fact, a behind-the-scenes story or even a nice juicy gossipy tidbit about a variety of celebrities. Each story is only a few pages long. Such a fun read and recommend to all who enjoy stories about celebrities.

Extremely disjointed book of short pieces of what I consider mostly hearsay that ends up feeling like an advertisement for the author's own work. Judging by the way this book was structured, I don't want to watch any of his films or listen to any of his audiobooks. Gets a single star only because there were a few interesting stories about movie personalities.

Interesting, but not really anything new. Well written but many stories needed to be fleshed out more. It felt as if the author just wanted to rush the book out.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this copy. The opinion in this review is solely my own.

122 Surprising Movie Star Stories by Paul Kyriazi, 319 pages. BIOGRAPHY, SHORT STORIES. Ronin Books, 2021. $10.
Language: R (46 swears, 0 “f”); Mature Content: PG13; Violence: PG13
BUYING ADVISORY: HS - NO
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
Kyriazi relays stories about directors and actors. The stories are about events that have occurred on and off the screen – and even events that have determined what goes on screen.
I was surprised how well the stories seemed to flow into each other sometimes despite the varied subjects and sources. Unfortunately, I think I’m too young for this book – I only recognized a handful of names, and there were few stories that I found interesting without knowing who was being discussed. With such short stories, context is important, and Kyriazi assumes that his readers are familiar with the movie stars he talks about.
Kyriazi talks about and includes pictures of subjects from various backgrounds, though the people seemed to be predominantly White, which is probably reflective of those being hired through the earlier days of movies. The mature content rating is for mention of mention of drug and alcohol abuse, innuendo, nudity, mention of condoms and sex, and sexual assault. The violence rating is for mention of verbal abuse, domestic violence, gun use, suicide, and murder.

This is a fun, easy to read book. I wouldn't take it as a great reference source, but it would be a good lazy afternoon read.

I really struggled with this book, and have to admit I could not get through it. I assumed there would be some in depth stories, but the ones I did read were only one or two pages long. While some readers may appreciate this style, it wasn't for me. I did like the cover though! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to try.

OK this book was very amusing, even if you don’t know the actors/artists in question, a quick google search will bring you to date, some stories made me giggle, it was a fun read, actually it feels much shorter than it was.

Totally worth to bring the golden years of the cinema to life, and it gave us some insight in the life of some very famous people, like Elvis, ^__^ there’s a very funny story about Clark gable and a fan named Scarlett hahah :D yeah but this is only a small drop in an ocean of stories, and I highly recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC and this is my honest opinion.

This is a fun, light read which will be of interest to those interested in Hollywood history. So many interesting characters and strange to think how some of these situations would have played out in 2022.

Most of these stories would have been lost if not found here. They came from out-of-print autobiographies and interviews on talk shows. These movie stars are from the 1960’s and 1970’s. I found my favorite stars in fascinating situations, that shows them in a positive light (though the stories were all fascinating of the other movie stars). This book is fun to read about behind the scene stories by famous actors and actresses. It’s a fast book to read. It’s fun and superb reading. Enjoy reading this book as I did.

A quick fast and easy read about Hollywood and some of their elite. An enjoyable book that will take you back to some of the stars you love or loved.

A short book packed with amusing anecdotes about the great and the good of Tinseltown. Inevitably, some are better than others and it always helps if you already know who the star in each story is. But its all good fun and there's a whole section of anecdotes about Elvis.
Just don't expect it to linger long in the memory after the final curtain falls.

Thank you to Ronin books and to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

I enjoy all things old Hollywood so I asked for an ARC of this book.

I really enjoyed all of the quirky stories, some of which I was unfamiliar). It was an easy read and a fun book that would make a great gift. I would recommend this to anyone that loves Old Hollywood like I do!

I laughed, my mouth hung open in awe, and this book is just as entertaining as the famous actors and singers in Incredible, unbelievable anecdotes that will have you thinking about some of these celebrities long after you’ve finished.
