A moody, time-bending fantasy about witches, love, and sacrifice. The writing is lyrical, though the nonlinear timeline can get a little confusing. Still, it’s haunting and magical if you stick with it. Perfect for fans of atmospheric fantasy.

I won’t lie—The Lost Witch took me a bit to really get into. But once it hooked me, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! The story follows Brigid, who starts off in the past before suddenly finding herself flung into the future—with no memory of what happened. Now, she has to piece together what’s missing, and that mystery kept me completely engaged.

The characters truly made this book shine for me. I absolutely loved Ophelia and Finola, but if I had to pick a favorite? Hands down, Fin—she was hilarious, had zero filter, and made me laugh every time she was on the page.

And then there’s Luc Knightly, the trickster god and a major blast from Brigid’s past. Let’s just say the chemistry between them was off the charts, and I devoured every bit of it. Also, I totally called one of the big reveals before it happened, which made the moment both satisfying and bittersweet.

As the ending neared, I was seriously nervous about how things would turn out for everyone. But I’m happy to say Paige delivered an ending that left me satisfied. If things had gone the way I feared? Let’s just say this review would’ve been very different!

*The Lost Witch* by Paige Crutcher is an intriguing blend of magic, mystery, and self-discovery. The story follows a young woman who discovers her hidden magical heritage and is thrust into a world of witches and ancient secrets. The premise is exciting, and Crutcher does a good job of creating an immersive atmosphere with its rich world-building and magical elements.

The main character is relatable, and I appreciated her journey of self-realization and growth. The plot kept me engaged, and there were plenty of twists to keep the story moving forward. However, the pacing at times felt uneven, and some of the side characters weren’t as well developed as I would have liked. The romance, while present, didn’t have the depth I expected, and I was hoping for more emotional connection between the leads.

Overall, *The Lost Witch* is a fun, magical read that will appeal to fans of urban fantasy and witchcraft stories. It’s entertaining, but it could have benefited from a bit more character development and emotional depth. It’s a solid read, but not as impactful as I had hoped.

In 1922, Brigid is a witch who ignores her goddess's advice, and makes a deal with a rival god in order to get what she wants most, a child. In 2022, she walked with no memories, and no idea how she's gotten 100 years into the future. Her sister's descendants live in her house now, and her town, once quaint and quiet, is now covered in monsters, which is because of what SHE did. Now, she's got to figure out how to help the town, close the gateway for the monsters, and find her daughter.

In all honesty, this feels weirdly disjointed. The story starts out making some sense, but then as it progresses into the future, the reasoning behind the storyline starts devolving into weirdness. I can't ENTIRELY put a pin on what went wrong. The grandnieces, Ophelia and Finola, act as though Brigid is this fabulous witch (oh, and the whole town thinks so too) but going after her daughter led to monsters coming into the town and ripening the townsfolk into those monsters! Why is Brigid so revered?

I think this might have benefited from some additional flashbacks, or more explanation of why the town acts so adoring toward Brigid. I also think Knightly's storyline (he's the god she made a deal with. And also her daughter's father...) could have been fleshed out better.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy via NetGalley in return for sharing my thoughts on this book. Thanks to the author and publisher for this opportunity!

The story has a lot of potential but it didn't go where I wanted it to or expected it to. I really wanted to like it more.

Very slow. I did enjoy once I got into the story but it was a very slow read. Probably won't recommend.

Crutcher has crafted a unique story! A witch wakes up 100 years later with no memories of what happened or how she got there. It was easy to get lost in the intricacies of the plot and who caused what, but it was otherwise a novel full of witches, forbidden romance, and good versus evil. I don't know that I'd pick up a second in the series, but I will watch what the author does next.

I loved how relevant, modern, and fun this book was. At first I was drawn in by the title and was not really sure what to expect but as soon as I started reading it pulled me in. Great read if you are looking for something fun and easy to break up reality with! I love the cover art and how nice the overall story is!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Paige Crutcher for allowing me to read and review this book.

This book follows two time lines: 1922 and 2022. The same main character is in both timelines. This book contains witches, time travel, amnesia, romance, covens, folklore creatures, and curses. The book takes place in a small town on a forgotten isle in Ireland.

The characters are well written and the story is very interesting. This is a story about a mother who will do anything to help her sick child, until things go too far and she ends up 100 years in the future with no memory of who she is. Brigid ends up in the basement of her descendants house. Together they work together to end the curse and get Brigid back to her own century.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book on time travel, witches, romance, and a mother who will do anything for her daughter.

"The Lost Witch" by Paige Crutcher is an enchanting tale that effortlessly weaves together elements of magic, mystery, and self-discovery. From the moment I was introduced to protagonist Lizzie Mitchell and her hidden powers, I was drawn into a world brimming with secrets and intrigue. Crutcher's vivid descriptions brought the eerie town of Haventon to life, and I found myself eagerly turning pages to uncover its mysteries alongside Lizzie. As she navigated the complexities of her newfound abilities and unearthed long-buried family secrets, I was swept away by the depth of emotion and suspense. With its compelling characters, atmospheric setting, and thrilling plot twists, "The Lost Witch" is a captivating read that lingers in the mind long after the final page. Crutcher's debut novel is a spellbinding journey that leaves readers craving more, and I can't wait to see what magical adventures await in future installments.

LOVED IT! I am always so drawn to witch stories and this one was so good. Loved the time travel aspect of this book, I don't see it too often with magical books like this.

I liked the worldbuilding and character aspects of this novel, but the plot fell flat. The story kicks off with promise, featuring Brigid, who finds herself disoriented in an unfamiliar era, grappling with amnesia. The pace falters when the narrative shifts to focus on the everyday activities of Ophelia and Finola, two local witches, against the backdrop of a magical lake. Despite the new depiction of demons emerging to possess the townsfolk, these thrilling moments seemed relegated to the backdrop of the story.

Brigid's romance with Knightley, while somewhat predictable, was nonetheless endearing, and I found myself cheering for their union. Knightley's archetype—the misunderstood lover with a willingness to sacrifice anything—may not break new ground, but his complexity added depth to his character. Ophelia and Finola brought to mind the beloved dynamic of "Practical Magic," encapsulating the essence of sisterhood and sorcery in their quest to aid their community.

I appreciated the enchanting setting and the magical elements Crutcher crafted, along with the generally appealing characters, but I was left wanting more substance.

A truly magical adventure - past meets present - finding the truth and trust in each other are all that can surmount the odds. And did we say witches? Of course it is all about witches - and magic for good or bad. Can't go wrong with this witchy fun tale of adventure.

i'm not going to lie, i had to fight to not DNF this book. at first, i was very interested but then it became so long and i was just really bored. the writing felt very odd to me and i just don't think it was the book for me. it was also very weird to have modern-day phrases, slang, and references when the writing felt older. i feel like there was so much but so little going on at the same time. it went extremely slow and that caused me not to feel as connected with the story as i would've liked to. the plot also confused me. i definitely don't think that i was the target audience for this book.

THE LOST WITCH is a spellbinding read (no pun intended). Crutcher develops wonderfully rich and real characters that leap off the page. Even though there is a fantastical element to this book, there is an honest and heartfelt narrative which makes it so good.

This just ended up not being a book for me. I tried to read it a few times, but couldn't quite connect to the voice or the storyline enough to finish it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book from the blurb - but I was absolutely BLOWN away and enraptured with the beautiful story. I read it in one day (staying up way too late), but I couldn't put it down. I mean there was love (in many forms and relationships), loss, light, darkness, magic (of course!), laughter, friendship, and so much more. This book was masterfully written and I cannot wait to read more from this author!

My Review: The Lost Witch by Paige Crutcher is a sci-fi/fantasy novel that gives. With mystical magic, ongoing conflict, snatches in time, and intriguing characters, this novel does not disappoint.

About the Book: The Evermore of old and the Evermore of new are connected. At the heart of this Irish town, there is a goddess, a healer, a curse, a conflict, a desperation, a battle, a sacrifice, a found family, and love.

Question to Consider: What lengths would you go to in order to save someone you love?

My Final Say: As a fan of temporal warps and mythological twists, I found this story to be appealing. I would love to hear the audio version. Readers who enjoy magical fantasy will go for this book.
