I apologize but can not read this arc as we are dealing with a health scare concerning my husband at the moment. Thank you for the approval. Will read when this soulmate related drama leaves our household.

The Soulmate is a psychological & domestic thriller that I did not see coming! It follows two couples and their intertwined relationships that are full of secrets & unexpected twists. The author left little breadcrumbs gradually along the way, keeping me interested and wondering what was next. I loved that she revealed details often, but I still couldn’t guess what was going to happen. The story is presented in multiple timelines: Now, After, Then, Before. I expected this to be confusing, but it was the perfect layout for the secrets to unfold.

This story moved so quickly and really hooked me from the start. I flipped back and forth between the kindle and audiobooks, and the narrators were lovely. Didn’t love the ending (him jumping off the cliff, not Pippa leaving) …although I can appreciate things coming full circle.

I usually love Sally Hepworth's books, and while this one started out really promising and kept me reading, I must admit it felt a bit convoluted towards the end. Overall, it was still a good read though. I just wish the ending was done a bit differently.

Thank you NetGalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book! This one was an easy read and definitely had a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. Overall it was really good!

What an exhilarating thriller!!! This book does have substantial conversations/discussions about those that struggle with mental illness and how it affects others. This novel is told with alternating POVs (one is from the deceased), in short chapters. Using the deceased POV to tell the story from what really happened that night, is a clever way to progress the story. Amanda fell from "The Spot" (a cliff outside their home). There are some twists, some escalations, and I thought Sally handled the conversation in her novel well.

4 stars
I can't get enough of Sally Hepworth. Truly, every time I see there's a new book coming from this author, I know I'll love it (or at the very least really enjoy it). _The Soulmate_ is a perfect match with this trend.
Gabe and Pippa make a really bizarre decision (IMO). They buy a beautiful home with a view of stunning cliffs...that are known around town as a popular spot for people who are looking to complete suicide. What's weirder than their general acceptance of this environment is Gabe's engagement with it. He takes it upon himself to redirect folks who come to this cliff, and his success rate is excellent...until the start of this book. It's important to note that folks sensitive to any material relating to suicide might find even the general setting tough to process, so prospective readers should keep this in mind. Did I mention there are small children living in this house? They also have a concerning level of familiarity with what goes on just outside of their home.
The best parts of this book are the twists, especially because (1) there are multiple twists and (2) they're pretty intriguing. Any fan of Hepworth's is also going to expect - AND GET - some really great insight into family relationships here, which was a huge draw for me.
This isn't my VERY favorite from Hepworth, but I did really enjoy it and in the general world of thrillers/mysteries, it's still at the very top. I continue to be so grateful that Hepworth is prolific and putting out only the hits. I'm already hitting refresh constantly to see when the next one arrives!

I love all of Sally’s books (that I’ve read thus far.) so I sort of knew this book would be a hit. It had me hooked from the first chapter, which I crave in books because my attention wanders so easily. I loved the themes surrounding family, as a mom and wife myself I felt it easy to relate to the main character. I thought I had the “twist” sorted from early on, but then another shoe dropped in the end that I couldn’t have predicted. I was slightly annoyed by the main characters loyalty to her husband despite his continued disrespect towards her. But I loved the attention to mental health issues, I don’t feel we see that enough. Overall; loved the book, the writing, and the characters. Can’t wait for it to release in April so you all can get your hands on it!!

Obviously a trigger warning for suicide, metal illness.
This was a fantastic read. Yet another suspense where my jaw literally dropped. The twists! I loved this so much more than the the other novel that I read from her. The characters were so true to life and honest. This book held my interest and made me not want to put it down until it was over.

This book wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t great. For me, it was just kind of blah. This was my first book by this author, and she’s talked up so much so I had high expectations. While it is an easy, fast paced read, I wasn’t thrilled by this book and it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat. I did enjoy the varying POVs for the book – mainly, I liked reading the dead girl’s point of view after she died. I felt like that was a nice touch and something that I haven’t read before. I also did not see the twist coming at the end between Max (the dead girl’s husband) and Gabe. Overall, it is a decent read that I would recommend it.

⭐️: 3/5
Following a rough patch in their life and marriage, Pippa and Gabe move their family to a new house overlooking a cliff that happens to be a popular suicide spot. Gabe finds purpose in literally talking visitors off the ledge, and he’s always been successful…until one day he isn’t. When Pippa finds out that Gabe actually knew the woman who died, she begins to wonder what other secrets he’s keeping, and why.
This was the first book I’ve read by Sally Hepworth, and I really like her writing style for its readability, which combined with the super short chapters, made this a really fast read for me. There’s a lot of red flags that are made obvious early on in Pippa and Gabe’s relationship, even if Pippa as the narrator doesn’t see them, making Pippa out to be an unreliable narrator. I do enjoy an unreliable narrator, but in this case, I’m not sure if it was done to any real benefit or payoff. I am also not overly fond of characters with POVs after death in books, since I find it a little hack-y when it comes to big reveals and storytelling in general. I found Pippa to be a kind of annoying character honestly, with all her adamant claims about how ~good~ Gabe is, while we’re literally presented with alternative evidence that is right in front of her face. Her blindness to her husband and how people around her feel about him was aggrivating and honestly a little triggering for me to read. It didn’t help garner her any sympathy from me. The ending was satisfying, though anticlimactic, since it made me ask the question “but why though?” since it seems like a lot of the confusion and drama could have been saved by a single conversation. It was one big miscommunication trope of a thriller.
Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!!

This book had me in its grip. The characters, the plot, the what if and then it just evens out. It was disappointingly anticlimactic.

This was fast paced and kept my attention. I really enjoyed the different POVs between Amanda and Pippa. I loved that Amanda’s POV is from the afterlife. I was constantly questioning Gabe and Pippa. I wasn’t sure who could be trusted in the relationship. All of the backstory made me invested in the characters. The ending worked well too!

Oh my goodness, I LOVED this book! I’m a big fan of Sally Hepworth and I think this is my favorite of her books so far! Hepworth never fails to write story that makes you want to devour the whole thing in one sitting. The Soulmate was no exception and grabbed me from the very first page, and the way this book ended was pure perfection!!

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.
The Soulmate is the new thriller from one of my auto-buy authors, Sally Hepworth. The story follows couple Gabe and Pippa, who move to a house by a cliff that has a dark reputation. People often come to the cliff to end their lives. Gabe ends up saving multiple people by talking them down, until one day, he doesn’t save the jumper. Then it comes out that Gabe knew the person who jumped and Pippa starts to wonder who exactly she is married to.
The Soulmate starts quick and never lets up on the pace. I loved this mysterious and dark storyline, as well as the different POV and timelines that break up each chapter. The pace is quick, the twists are crazy, and the writing is impeccable. Sally Hepworth never misses.
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

ellow Reader,
Did you set a goal on www.goodreads.com for your year? I have been setting a reading goal for the last few years. I read a lot but I like to use Goodreads for two reasons. The first is that it keeps track of what books I have read. I will admit that sometimes I forget what books I have read. I can then look on Goodreads and see if I have read it. Also, I set a reading challenge every year. I have found that if I have slacked off a bit (it happens!) it prods me to read – I don’t want to not meet the challenge I set for myself! The sidebar along this post gives an update on the books I have recently read. You might notice that I have been on a streak of reading Miss Silver mysteries. I will admit I retreated into them for a week or two. I just needed something not taxing to read. They were written in the years between 1928 – 1961 (!) so the style is different from what we are used to. There are 32 books in the Miss Silver series and each has a little twist from the ones ahead of it. There are some reoccurring characters but you can read them in any order.
I was also given a copy of The Soulmate to read for my unbiased opinion. I enjoyed it very much. While reading the book, I kept wondering if the narrator was unreliable or if it was her husband that was unreliable. It kept me guessing for a long time. And then!
Gabe and Pippa live in their dream house in a sleepy coastal town. There is one big drawback to the house. It is located on a cliff and often people try and commit suicide by jumping off the cliff. As the book opens, Gabe is going out to try and talk another person out of jumping off the cliff. We learn that Gabe has been incredibly successful in talking to the others who have tried, out of jumping. But on this particular night, the person jumps.
Because the person actually jumped, there is a police investigation. Days later Pippa discovers that the woman who jumped is someone they know. But Gabe didn’t tell her that he knew the woman nor did he tell the police that he knew her.
Why?
Not only did they know her but she was the wife of Gabe’s ex-boss.
As the book progresses, we learn more about Gabe’s work and family history. What starts as the perfect marriage shows some cracks.
There were many twists and turns to keep you wondering what could be going on. What is truly going on here? And why are these people doing what they are doing?
I think this book is a good one for you to read. I enjoyed it and I think you will also.
This book will be released on April 4, 2023.
Thanks for reading!

First, I'm so thankful to NetGalley, Sally Hepworth, Macmillan Audio, and St. Martin's Press for granting me advanced audio access and an e-book of The Soulmate before the book hits shelves on April 4, 2023. This was my first Sally Hepworth book, and while I was enticed by the short chapters and the thrilling start, I was a little disappointed by the twist, but overall it was still a good read.
Pippa, her husband Gabe, and two children live in a gorgeous seaside home on a cliff. They've had no reservations about their home, other than that this backyard cliffside just so happens. It is a famous jump for s*icidal people. Over the years, Gabe has tried to save as many people as he can, pulling them away from danger, but one afternoon, Pippa spots her husband on the cliff with a woman, and after she falls to her death, it almost looks as if Gabe pushed her.
The woman in question just so happens to be the wife of Gabe's former boss, Max. Max and Pippa had previously had an affair, and Amanda was headed to their home to deliver video evidence of the event. Before you go pointing fingers on whose to blame here, buckle up because you're in for a wild twist of a ride.
Gabe is Pippa's soulmate, and they've been through so much together, but does she know the man she claims is her soulmate?

A gripping, twisty, and super quick read!
The Soulmate tells the story of Pippa and Gabe, a married couple who live on a cliffside in Australia that is a well-known suicide spot. Gabe has talked a few people down from the ledge, but that ends when a woman dies before him. The Soulmate is told from a dual-POV of wife Pippa and the woman who died, Amanda, which gives it a really interesting angle.
The story covers mental health, marriage, family, betrayal, secrets, lies, and more. The pacing is fantastic, and the twists and reveals are well-placed. This is not my first Sally Hepworth book, and it definitely makes me want to dive into more of her back catalogue. Highly recommend!
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for gifting me with an ARC to review. I couldn't put it down!

If you’re a fan of psychological domestic thrillers that slowly reveal the answers to a mystery, then give this a try.
This book was fine. I didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. The characters are blandly unlikable. Not crazed villains that create extra interest, but rather just people who make bad choices and are kinda meh And I felt voted for a big chunk of it despite the twists.

This was another excellent read by Sally Hepworth. While it seemed pretty straight forward on what was going on, there was some twists. I liked how the book went from present and past to get the full picture of each character. I really enjoyed the ending as well. Not my favorite of hers, but still a great read!
