How much would you be willing to do for the one you love? This will definitely keep you flipping pages. It takes you on the journey thru mental illness and left me shocked at the connection between the two couples. The web of lies is real in this story.
Did Amanda jump or was foul play involved? You definitely need to check this one out to find out.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book, in about 4 hrs… I could not put it down. I went in blind, just trusting the author (yes I’ve read her other books and 🙌🏻) so I was not surprised to find this one just as amazing. The twists I didn’t see the coming. The characters. I will be making sure we get this one at our library when it comes out!

Gabe and Pippa needed a change. After a search, they found their dream house. It was perfect! But there was one drawback. It was next to what the locals call “The Drop”, a steep cliff off of which many suicide victims jumped. On a regular basis, Gabe would go talk the potential suicide victims out of jumping. He became a local hero. And, like every other time he did this, he went to talk the latest potential suicide victim off of the edge. But this time it was different. This time, Gabe knew the jumper! As Pippa watched his body language as he talke, she began to wonder if Gabe had actually pushed the jumper this time.
I couldn’t put this book down! Little-by-little, Sally Hepworth reveals to the reader more and more of the truth until the reader is totally immersed in the storyline. The characters she has created here are very real and unpredictably human. Her imagery moves the story along, thrusting the reader into the action of her story as they unravel the truth. I highly recommend this one!

I instantly liked this book. The characters were complex and interesting. The ending was a little too happy for me.

Sally Hepworth is becoming one of my favorite authors! I thoroughly enjoyed The Soulmate - it actually helped me out of a reading slump I've been in lately! This book has interesting characters, a lot of twists - some I saw coming and others I didn't. The story is told in dual timelines (past and now) from the pov of Pippa and Amanda.. Near Pippa and Gabe's home is a spot called "the drop" where many people have come to end their lives. Gabe has a knack for talking people down and convincing them to stay. This time it doesn't happen though and when Pippa learns the identity of the victim she has doubts if the woman actually jumped or if her husband might have pushed her. I was quite intrigued with the story and I also think that the cover of this book looks simply amazing.
Thank you for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book which I highly recommend.

I liked this book. Quick and easy read. I would recommend this book and the author’s other books as well.

The Soulmate centres on the family dramas of a married couple who live near an infamous local cliff. More suspenseful than thriller, this latest offering from Sally Hepworth is filled with domestic intrigue and complicated relationships. While I found it engaging, it wasn’t wildly twisty or fast-paced in my opinion.
This novel touches on a lot of mental health issues, and the marriage portrayed had a lot of depth and realistic struggles that I appreciated (in addition to the outlandish popcorn thriller features).
Overall, I know I can count on this author when I want a quick and mysterious story, although this wasn’t as gripping as I’ve found others from her to be in the past.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher to access to an e-arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review. It will be available April 4, 2023.

First off, the cover is absolutely gorgeous!!
I didn’t want to put this book down but… my kids needed to eat. I kept thinking of the book as I was cooking and #adulting.
This book is full of twist and turns some you see coming others you don’t. Loved seeing both Pippa and Amanda’s past and present perspectives. It helped to understand the characters more.
Sally Hepworth did a great job on this book!

I really loved this book! Finally, a thriller that delivers on mystery, gasps and tears. I loved it all the way through, it never lost steam. I was confused by the time jumps between past and present, and the fact that one of the characters was speaking from beyond the grave, but it all makes perfect sense in the end! All the fake outs make sense; there’s nothing left to chance, all characters have understandable motivations and they deal with mental health diagnoses in a respectful way (I think, having close friends and family who are diagnosed similarly as one of the MC’s.) I thought it was twisty and quick and clever and fun and even a little bit touching towards the end, I truly shed a little tear.

Wow.. The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth gave me CHILLS!! It was so good!! Great characters, suspenseful storyline, Could not put it down. Hepworth never disappoints! I loved the main character, Gabe and Pippa, loved their story, loved their turmoil. The setting overlooking the ocean was also a plus. There is nothing I didn't love about this book! Highly recommend!!

Any book by Sally Hepworth is an automatic read for me and this one lived up to what Sally Hepworth puts out. I read this book in a day and stayed up until 2 am to finish it and I don't regret it at all. I found myself gasping at certain parts and pacing my house while reading at others. Hepworth's ability to keep the reader guessing and throw them off the scent of how the book is going to end it why I love her.
Highly recommend to anyone who wants a book that is going to throw them for a loop in the end.

The Soulmate takes place in Portsea, Australia. Pippa and Gabe live with their two daughters in a cottage near a cliff known as The Drop. Gabe has saved many people from jumping from the cliff until, one day, a woman jumps after speaking with him. Pippa begins to wonder what happened on the ledge and whether it was really an accident. She also begins to look back and slowly question whether her husband is as perfect as he seems. This book was SO good and hard to put down. It's about marriage and the secrets we keep and the things we overlook in the name of true love. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth
I discovered Hepworth’s books a few months ago and read them all back to back. When I saw she had a new one coming out, I was so excited. I am super lucky that NetGalley allowed me to read this ARC. The Soulmate is what I’d call a “semi-thriller” and maybe a little more domestic drama. It had a good central mystery and there were both dual timelines and dual POVs which could have been confusing, but Hepworth handled it well. She’s a master at dropping little mini bombshells throughout the book, all culminating in a tense, twisty climax. I am horrible at summarizing books, so I’ll let the blurb speak for itself and just say that this one was worth the read.

4.5 stars!
Bingeworthy & addicting, in true Sally Hepworth form! I fell in love with her books years ago, after reading The Family Next Door Ever since, she’s been an auto-read, most anticipated author, that I look forward to every single year.
The Soulmate delivered her slew of peculiar (self-admitted – in her acknowledgements) yet interesting, and (mostly) loveable characters. She has a special way of storytelling that hooks the reader in these domestic thrilling plots, but also ties in a bit of sarcasm, and a bit of seriousness (ex – mental illness, etc). I always find myself learning while also being entertained reading her books.
The Soulmate was another propulsive, enthralling read, with alternating timelines, POV, and short, fast paced chapters. I devoured this one quickly, and highly recommend adding to your TBR when it comes out in April! (If you haven’t read her backlist books – add those too!)

I enjoyed this book
It was a domestic thriller but a bit of a slow burn for my taste. I expected a few more twists and turns to be honest. Overall a very good book

domestic thrillers are my favorite kind - there’s something about being involved in other people’s mess that always has me so entertained… and THE SOULMATE has plenty of mess!
i was hooked from the synopsis and knew i was in for a dark and twisty ride. the dual narrator and dual timeline works SO well here. you really can’t trust any of the characters and as the story unfolds, you find that everyone is hiding something. i did NOT want to put this down!
i figured out part of where the story was headed, but it didn’t bother me because there are so many moving parts with each character. i loved the writing and setup and was engaged throughout the entire book.
THE SOULMATE is the perfect thriller to binge if you need something to break a reading slump - you’ll def want to preorder and request on Netgalley! i love Sally Hepworth’s writing and can’t wait to read more of her writing!

Pippa and Gabe didn’t realize when they bought their cliffside cottage that it was near a spot where people come to end their lives. Gabe develops a reputation as someone who can talk people off the edge. One night, a mysterious woman comes to the edge and Gabe goes out to speak with her. But did she jump or was she pushed? Pippa’s husband has secrets that are starting to reveal themselves…but surely she knows everything there is to know about her soulmate?
I flew through The Soulmate- I couldn’t put it down! This was my first book from Sally Hepworth but will absolutely not be my last. Hepworth’s writing is twisty, witty, and there is never a dull moment. I felt so in tune with Pippa as she expressed her worries about Gabe, her daughters, and her family’s approval. Pippa is trying to keep so much going for her family, it is impossible to look away as the figurative castle on the cliffside begins to crumble. I loved that it was in Australia, one of my favorite settings!
I enjoyed having the point of view of Max and Amanda, especially as their connection to Pippa and her family is revealed. When a particular character is revealed to be neurodiverse, Hepworth is careful never to blame mental illness for anyone’s actions and makes it clear that their choices are their own. This is so important as thrillers often broadly paint people with mental illness as dangerous, which is stigmatizing and can have real-world consequences. I loved the satisfying ending of the book and will definitely reread it! I would recommend this to anyone, particularly if you enjoy Ruth Ware, Liane Moriarty, or Alice Feeney.
The Soulmate is available April 4, 2023. Thank you to Sally Hepworth, St. Martin’s Press, and Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
For publisher: My review will be posted on Instagram, Goodreads, Amazon, Storygraph, and Barnes & Noble etc

"The Soulmate" is a twisty thriller following married couple Gabe and Pippa and the supposed suicide of a woman who came to the cliffs near their home to end it all. You won't want to put it down.

Another winner from Sally Hepworth! The Soulmate is a twisty, domestic thriller about married couple. The husband, Greg, may have given a little push to a woman, a push off a cliff! I will definitely recommend this book to patrons at my library.
I am a library associate and received an advance copy from #NetGalley.

This one wasn’t for me. A domestic drama with no thrill, and very much a slow burn. It never really hooked me in - the stakes never got high enough. The characters were pretty one dimensional, and I didn’t feel like the “beyond the grave” narration worked. The whole story built up to something Amanda could’ve told us right away! For lovers of domestic dramas, this may be a hit, but for a quick moving thriller/mystery, look elsewhere. This is my first read from this author, so possible her style just isn’t for me!
