I loved the storyline of this book and was really looking forward to enjoying it but I felt like it was dragging on. I think certain parts could have been left out and it could have been shorter. For me I guessed the twist early on too. Which was disappointing. Sadly this book just wasn’t for me.

The house on the cliff - it's beautiful, but with its flaws. And one of the flaws is that those who wish to end their lives come to the property to fling themselves into the water. Pippa and Gabe love their home, and Gabe is known as somewhat of a local celebrity for being able to talk people down from the cliffside. However, it doesn't always work, and this time, Gabe knew the victim. This leads Pippa into a spiral - why did he know her, and what does it mean for their marriage?
Overall, this was a good thriller that kept me reading because I needed to know what happened next. In fact, I stayed up way past my bedtime to figure out what was going to happen with Gabe and Pippa, as well as the woman who threw herself off the cliff. I always enjoy Sally Hepworth's novels, and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Five stars for The Soulmate!!! I can always count on Sally Hepworth to take me on a ride that brings me higher and higher only to have a free fall of twists, turns and an ending I wasn’t prepared for. The Soulmate is told through the perspectives of the two female protagonists in alternating timeframes of Then and Now and Before and After (the tragedy).
Pippa lives with her husband Gabe and their two daughters in a cottage high on the coastal bluffs known as The Drop, a popular suicide spot. Amanda comes from meager beginnings and with her marriage to Max she also marries into wealth. What really happened at The Drop? How are these couples connected to one another?
With themes of marital lies, secrets, suicide and mental illness, this fast paced domestic thriller covers these topics deftly and in a respectable way. Hepworth fans will love taking another ride with this queen of domestic suspense and for new readers, “Welcome Aboard” and hold on tight!

This is a must read. I usually listen to audiobooks, but NetGalley approved me for the digital read. I have spent my weekend totally enthralled with this book. Sally Hepworth never disappoints, and this one is no exception. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+. What to read next?!?!

This was my first novel by Sally Hepworth and it did not disappoint! The author hooks the reader right from the beginning and keeps you turning the pages to see what happens! The plot is told between two viewpoints of two main characters and goes between the past and present. I thought it was very easy to follow and I absolutely love the short chapters. Additionally, I think the author did a phenomenal job with character development and the storyline was original. I really appreciate how she didn’t waste time going on and on like some novels seem to never end, but not this one! The storyline never veers off track and keeps you engaged and wanting to find out what happens. I am excited to read more from this author and if you haven’t checked out this book, you NEED to! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

Sally Hepworth’s latest is so good. It’s her usual domestic thriller that slowly unwinds as you hear more parts of the story.
I enjoyed this the whole way through. Short chapters from a couple perspectives kept it moving and they were just brief enough that it kept you on the edge of your seat.
I really thought the ending was good. Without spoiling anything, it’s bittersweet and just as it should be.
Thanks to @netgalley for this eARC.

This book is full of twists and unexpected turns. The story is told from the alternating point of views of Pippa and Amanda and there is a huge focus on their relationships with their husbands. In the beginning, each couple’s love story is shared and you are kept wondering how anything so sweet could go so wrong. There was something ominous brewing during the first half of the book and the more I read the more complex everything became. I was kept guessing all the way until the end! If you like domestic or suspense thrillers-add this to your TBR list!
I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Mysteries are really something I have only started enjoying within the past few years but I tend so be particular so I am always on the look out for new authors. This was my first book by Hepworth and it wasn’t what I was hoping for. The premise sounded like exciting but as soon as we hit a chapter by a ghost it lost me and just kept getting more and more outlandish. With every over the top addition I found myself rolling my eyes rather than wondering what was coming next. This wasn’t a taut examination of trust and relationships. In fact the central relationships in the book made me wonder why they were all even together anyway. Clearly a Hepworth has a huge fan base and I am glad I was given the opportunity to give her books a try. Now I know they aren’t for me.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a huge Sally Hepworth fan and was so excited to receive an early copy to read! Holy plot twists! This book has a few of them and they were amazing! I could not put it down. The story is told in dual POV’s alternating between Pippa and Amanda. This book left me speechless which doesn’t happen too often. It was refreshing to read a thriller that was actually thrilling. Pippa and Gabe live with their two daughters in a house on a cliff known as “The Spot”. The Spot was a place where people went to end their lives. Gabe managed to talk a number of people down however, on this particular night he doesn’t. As the situation unfolds Pippa sees everything from the window and notices the outward position of Gabe’s arms. The death was rule a suicide, but Pippa isn’t so sure.
Pippa finds out Gabe knew the victim. As she digs for the truth more secrets come to light. What really happened that night? Can she trust her husband?

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I Liked It. I was caught up from the beginning where you find out where this family lives and what happens right at the start. Plenty of turns along the way. The ending kept me from liking it more, it was ok but seemed rushed with new info.

There’s a cottage on a cliff. Gabe and Pippa’s dream home in a sleepy coastal town. But their perfect house hides something sinister. The tall cliffs have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. Night after night Gabe comes to their rescue, literally talking them off the ledge. Until he doesn’t.
When Pippa discovers Gabe knew the victim, the questions spiral...Did the victim jump? Was she pushed?
This one is told from two point of views. Pippa and Amanda (the dead woman). Between the two of them we learn all the secrets. This one is full of twists all the way to the end. It also deals with mental health issues and how they affect everyone in the family not just the afflicted. I finished this one in just a couple of sittings as it was propulsive and fast paced.
I was given a copy to review from NetGalley and the publisher. My opinions are my own.

A "perfect" marriage or so it seems on the outside. Pippa believes that Gabe is her soulmate, the answer to all her questions, but is he really being truthful when he says that he had nothing to do with the woman who falls off the cliff just outside their home? I enjoyed peeling back the layers of their complicated relationship as we progress through the book. As expected, this was a solid, nailbiting psychological thriller with a few unexpected twists.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I'm really not sure what to write for this review. I did enjoy the book but it definitely was not one of my favorites. It didn't hold my full attention and make me excited to keep reading.
It was very interesting to see how different the two couples in the story are though. To see the outcomes from what could be considered a slow burn relationship and a fast one. I also did like being able to get into the mindset of both Pippa and Amanda. Especially being able to see the before and after on both of their parts.
Overall, while I might not have loved this book I would definitely give this author another shot.

What really happened on the cliff? That’s the question.
This story mainly revolves around two couples – Gabe & Pippa and Amanda & Max. The story switches between Pippa and Amanda’s points of view while also switching between ‘past’ and ‘present’. We are left wondering how are they connected? Little hints are given throughout the book leaving the reader to ponder all the possible scenarios. Just when I thought I might have figured it out, there is another twist. I love a book that keeps me guessing and this book did not disappoint.

Sally Hepworth never lets me down! This book was wonderful and i loved every minute of it! Finished it in one sitting.

I read this book in a day and a half! I could not put it down! It was such a compelling story! I have read this author before so I knew it would be a good book. She has presented a character with Bipolar disorder in such an accurate way, right down to the misdiagnosis before the final diagnosis. I loved the characters and really came to feel for Pippa as a woman in love who tries her best to love and support her husband through multiple episodes. I also like the extended family's involvement and the back story of Gabe's family. I was still surprised by the ending which is what makes a great book to me. That 'I did not see that coming' factor. Thanks Sally, for another great book. I will be watching for the next one.

This was my second book by Sally Hepworth and I just loved it. I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley and I am so happy that I did. This book has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 so I was super excited to read this early copy. I just loved it! What an engaging, original concept.
This story is about a couple, Gabe and Pippa, who live in a house on the coast, that happens to be right by a huge cliff. This cliff is famous for people jumping off it to commit suicide. But at the same time, Gabe, is known for going out to the cliff when he sees people about to jump. He literally talks them off the ledge. But this one day, when a woman was standing on the edge, he talked to her for hours out there, but she still ended up jumping anyway. Or did she? And who was this woman? Did Gabe know her? There are many secrets involved in this story, which in turn gives many surprises and twists along the way.
This book was great! I loved it. I loved the writing, the originality of the plot, and the suspense that kept me wanting more the whole time I was reading it. I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend it to anyone. This was a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for me!
I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I was absolutely glued to my Kindle while reading this. I couldn’t put it down and loved every second.
Gabe and Pippa move into a house with a huge cliff known as a place where people go to end their life. Gabe has a knack for talking people off the ledge - until one day he doesn’t. The twists and turns that follow make this a must-read.

2.5⭐️
I don’t read many thrillers, but Sally Hepworth has written two of my favorites in that genre (The Good Sister and The Mother-in-Law). So by that history, I was excited in opening this book and knew I could expect a good story. Sally has such a skillful way of pulling you into the story right from the beginning. She gives you just enough that you have to keep reading to find out more.
I found her approach to telling this story unique: told from two POVs, but one of them holds the view of between death and the afterlife - so she can tell the reader things that are going on that we wouldn’t otherwise know.
At first the multiple timelines (now/then, after/before) made it hard to orient to the story, but once I caught on I was actually impressed with the use of this format and enjoyed the way it revealed facts and details to the mystery of the situation.
Although these two things made for an intriguing approach to storytelling, I unfortunately felt icky (not in a good way) through the whole reading of the book. Be it the manipulative/toxic/codependent relationship, the marital deception/mistrust/strife, the various mental
illnesses portrayed, the shady criminal behavior, or the involvement of children in all the aforementioned - or all of the above - for me personally, it did not lead to an enjoyable reading experience.
Not to mention the ending of the book which had me upset and annoyed. It romanticized suicide and made it seem like an honorable choice. In my other reads by Sally, even though they can be filled with difficult topics and choices, they end with redemptive and hopeful elements. Perhaps that’s what this ending was intended to do, but I do not agree with that choice as being redemptive or hopeful in anyway.
To speak of the content itself, there’s a good handful of s-words and f-bombs but the language isn’t pervasive. There are sexual affairs and references to sex (sometimes used in an unhealthy way) but nothing descriptive.
Thank you to Sally Hepworth and St Martin’s Press for a complimentary ebook in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth follows Pippa who lives in her dream home with her husband, Gabe, and their two kids. However, The tall cliffs have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. Night after night Gabe comes to their rescue, literally talking them off the ledge. Until he doesn’t. When Pippa discovers Gabe knew the victim, the questions spiral...Did the victim jump? Was she pushed? And would Gabe, the love of Pippa’s life, her soulmate...lie? As the perfect facade of their marriage begins to crack, the deepest and darkest secrets begin to unravel.
Sally Hepworth's books are always quick, suspenseful reads for me that I always end up enjoying. While some of the twists in the first half of this novel really worked for me, the twists in the back half of the novel worked less well for me. I found some of the connections between characters really implausible and has some tropes that I tend to not enjoy.
