This book is excellent. Sally Hepworth does not disappoint. Her characters are quirky and fun but there is also a a
dark mystery brewing. You are drawn into the story right away and you want to know more about what happened and the backstories of the characters. I read this book in two days. I did not want it to end! I've never read a Sally Hepworth book I did not love! Highly Recommend.

When Sally Hepworth releases a new book, you better believe I am going to read it... and love it. This is my fourth book by her, and once again, she delivers. I could have read The Soulmate in one sitting, but I have a job and children, so unfortunately that could not happen. :)
Quick synopsis:
Gabe and Pippa live with their two little girls in a beautiful home on a cliff above the sea. It's a fresh start after some setbacks in their marriage. The only problem to their new start: the cliff is nicknamed "The Spot" for how popular it is among suicidal people. Gabe has a knack for being able to talk people down and "save them," until one day he is unable to save a woman from taking her life. While Gabe is distraught, Pippa is even more so as she is pretty sure she saw Gabe push her. As it turns out, the woman was not a stranger and Pippa must find out the truth of what really happened.
The ending to this one was WILD. I probably would've given this book 4 stars, but the last 10% pushed it up to 4.5. Sally's crazy, unpredictable, shocking endings always get me. Pick this one up if you are looking for a suspenseful domestic thriller.

I feel like I flew through this book! This is the first book I've read by Sally Hepworth, and I will definitely have to check out her others! The chapters were short, which I always love. Despite the chapters being from 2 different POV's and 2 different timelines, it wasn't at all confusing. I did think the "my husband is perfect" thing was a little over-the-top, and they forgave each other for things that just aren't forgivable in my opinion, but it's fiction right. Overall, a great read! (I also love the cover!)

I think this is my favorite book by Sally!
This was a true page turner, the characters were well written and the plot was fantastic.
A really great thriller/mystery and a character plot twist I didn’t see coming.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5!

This is my second Sally Hepworth book and I am quickly becoming a fan!
Gabe, Pippa, and their two daughters move into a beautiful mansion near a cliff but unfortunately, it is a popular spot for people wishing to end their life. Gabe, the sensitive and charismatic father becomes a local celebrity due to his ability to talk people away from suicide. One day, a woman is standing on the cliff and Gabe is unsuccessful in his quest to save her. The story quickly evolves into a suspenseful thriller with lots of questions and twists. I particularly appreciated Hepworth's treatment of mental health and its effects on those that care for those suffering.
A big thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Happy Pub Day to Sally Hepworth and her brilliant new book, The Soulmate!
Pippa and Gabe have recently moved into a beautiful home situated along the cliffs in a quiet, beachside town - a place that people go to getaway for the weekend and spend school holidays.
However, they quickly learn that their new backyard, nicknamed The Drop, may seem stunning and picturesque, but it has gathered a bit of a dark reputation as the place that people go to take their own lives.
Since moving into their new home, Gabe has been named a local hero, helping save seven people from jumping. Until one afternoon when a beautiful woman shows up to The Drop and Gabe goes out to help but he’s soon seen standing at the side of the cliff alone.
This event sparks a series of doubts in Pippa’s mind until she’s faced with the ultimate question: Is her soulmate really who she thinks he is?
This book was so good! Not only did it leave me guessing several times, but there were a few times I gasped out loud and got the chills! I can’t wait to read it again!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC! And thank you Sally Hepworth for transporting me back to Melbourne for a minute - I can’t wait for this to come out in the States so I can add it to my library!

I could not put it down. The story is told in dual POV’s alternating between Pippa and Amanda. This book left me speechless which doesn’t happen too often. It was refreshing to read a thriller that was actually thrilling.
This book is so full of twists and turns be careful not to get whiplash! I loved the juicy domestic drama. I found this book very hard to put down and kept making time to read it. It's gripping, shocking, dramatic, full of secrets, and left me with my mouth hanging open a couple of times.
Hepworth has done it yet again! This is now my favorite book by her.

Bring on the darkness and the good vibes for this book. This book fits my aesthetics for dark humor and tragic love stories with plot twists. I was surprised with how the author manifests the perfect approach to mental illness and dysfunctional relationships. This book is perfect for those who want a little dark twist in their lives. This is a cant put down until I finish book. There are a bunch of trigger warnings that should be labeled before the reader starts. I am so happy to review this before the release date and I want to thank the publisher and Netgalley for providing it to me.

This is my second book by Sally Hepworth, The Good Sister my first. While the Good Sister was a mind twister (in that good, can’t figure it out way) The Soulmate was full tilt, twists and turns. I could not put the book down until the end. I enjoyed the two coinciding love stories and how they played off one another as well as the different POVs that all become clear as Amanda tells her story. And Gabe! He and the cliff were such great foils for one another! He was constantly on the edge of one cliff or another. It was fascinating to read how his mind was all over the place! Pippa shows us how love is blind and how we endure even to our detriment, although honestly I admired her loyalty. This was an AMAZING read and I loved how everything was wrapped up neatly in the end. I am now about to read every one of her books! BRAVO!

This was just an OK read for me. Definitely not one of my favorite Sally Hepworth books. I didn't care for Gabe and Pippa with all their issues. The story was slow paced and the ending tried to be shocking but IMO it was unbelievable..
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. .

The newest novel by Sally Hepworth takes places in a rural coastal town. Pippa’s life feels pretty good. She’s crazy in love with her husband, Gabe, and they have 2 sweet daughters. But they live across from The Drop, a known suicide location. Gave is locally known for saving jumpers from taking their lives… until one person actually jumps and doesn’t survive. As the police investigation ensues, it appears that the jumper wasn’t a stranger to Gabe or Pippa and her husband insists she wasn’t suicidal. Through the POV of Pippa and Amanda (the jumper) the reader slowly learns that Gabe might not be the perfect soulmate that Pippa thought he was.
This novel was true to Hepworth’s style of a domestic suspense. I enjoyed seeing how the pieces all came together at the end. The idea of a perfect soulmate is explored through 2 very different marriages and I appreciated the different perspectives.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this early review copy. This novel is out in Australia and NZ on 10/25/22 and will hit the shelves in the US and UK in April 2023. This review can also be found on Goodreads and on IG @maria.needs.to.read

“Goes to show how dangerous it can be, thinking that you know someone.”
Gabe and Pippa seem to have it all. The perfect marriage, beautiful children, and their dream cottage on the coast. But just as ominous cliffs hide behind their house, something is hiding behind their perfect life. One unforgettable moment on the cliffs begins the unraveling that changes their lives forever.
This book started off strong and intrigued me from the beginning. Dual timelines and two POVs kept me wanting more. The pacing was fast and this is a very bingeable read.
There were little breadcrumbs left throughout the whole book and once the secrets were slowly revealed, they didn’t stop. One after the other, every chapter seemed to have a new twist.
I really enjoyed the suspense and how mysterious this was. I was very shocked by the ending. Overall I really enjoyed this book!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the eARC!

Sally Hepworth has never written a book that I have not absolutely loved. The Soulmate captivated me from page one to the end. The plot twists in this one will have you canceling your everyday plans so you can devour the story. This book is a MUST read!!
Thank you NetGallery for my ARC.

This is great storytelling mixed with housewife drama— twisted in goodness. I feel like I just binged watched a new show and I want the next season!
Soulmates. Murder, love, twists and turns. Loved it.
No spoilers here— don’t skip ahead when you’re reading, but my favorite part was chapter 79. Just loved the storytelling
Thanks for sharing early releases Sally’s masterpieces with me again! She’s so fun to read and this one is my favorite so far.

I definitely don’t see myself ever living next to a cliff and having to worry about finding someone jumping to their death every so often! This book was addicting and hard to put down but then about midway through it got really slow. Pippa, Gabe, Amanda and Max weren’t really memorable characters for me. Overall this was an okay read but just wished it picked up halfway.

Wow. This book was full of twists and turns and I never knew what to expect. All of the clues that were dropped were red herrings leading me to a shocking end where I was entirely wrong about what was going to happen.
I very much enjoyed the alternating chapters seeing the story play out in the past and present leading to what happened.
Huge thanks to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for this copy!

I enjoyed the premise of the book but there were certain aspects that fell flat for me. This was my first book by this author and I definitely enjoyed her writing style. I am looking forward to reading more of her other books in the future.

The Soulmate is my new favorite Hepworth novel by far! It had everything. Marriage, murder, infidelity, betrayal, mental illness, struggles of parenting, social pressure, and more.
Theres crucial information revealed till the very end and it adds so much more. The POV alternates between the two heroines before and after the momentous moment. This switch in POV’s really made the story what it is - it gave insight into the characters actions and the motives.
Primarily what I love about Hepworth novels is the domesticity of it. All the characters everyday struggles are relatable - the daily chaos that is having kids, marital bliss (or strife?), finding personal happiness and fulfillment; all characters can be your friend or sister simply going through life.
Hepworth has outdone herself with this one - I thought The Good Sister couldn’t be topped but here we are!

I can always trust Sally Hepworth to deliver a good story!
Gabe and Pippa moved into their cliff side home a year ago and in that time, Gabe has become known as a bit of a local hero. He has prevented seven people from jumping to their deaths from the cliff at the end of their property. So when another person is standing on the edge, Gabe goes out to talk to them and Pippa calls the police. But when she looks back out the window she notices her husband standing alone with his arms out and palms up. Did the woman jump or did her husband have something to do with her death. Trust your gut.
Written during the Covid lockdown in Australia, Hepworth wanted to write a story of marriage and murder. Who didn’t want some space (or worse) from their partners during lockdown!
As with all this author’s books that I have read, they read like domestic suspense. Characters and relationships are flushed out. The setting of a home near the edge of a cliff added to the tension. The story has a few twists and one big one but if you are really paying attention, you will find the giveaway sentence. Still, I really enjoyed the story and pacing and when the twist that I thought was going to happen came true, I only thought about how clever I was (haha!).
One of the characters in this book struggles with mental illness. It was done with care and compassion and honesty.
I always look forward to Sally’s books and her online presence. Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for an ARC of The Soulmate in exchange for my honest opinions. This one releases October 25, 2022 in Australia and New Zealand and April 4, 2023 in North America.

One thing that sets Sally Hepworth apart from other mystery/thrillers authors is she puts alot of heart into the characters making the reader invested in their lives . This book was no different. Apart from the mystery there is something special that the reader can connect with these characters.
The book concept was great but it was more slower paced than I would of like and so many things were going on that it lost the main focus of the story .
